High Heels--am I crazy?

To each their own. If you can walk for a long time in them why not.
I personally prefer sneakers. I once went around WDW in a pair of sandals fancy ones and ended up regreting it.:sad2:

but if you do decide to wear your heels be aware you will be considered a winner in someone's game of "bad shoe"

That's what I was about to say! People will not be looking at you like "oh how stylish she looks", they'll be looking at you like, "oh good grief!" I loved the thread on bad shoes at the parks...hilarious!

I'm actually more comfortable in high heels then ballet flats(they are cute with skinny jeans though). We usually go in the summer or Fall time and I wear platform sandal all day and have no problems. I hate Jeans with sneakers too, totally understand. Unless there my coach sneaks, cause there too cute. What about getting a pair of coach sneakers???:confused3 Very stylish too

Since we are going in November I don't really know what the weather will be like but I will probably have to wear jeans and I can't stand wearing sneakers with jeans--I always wear high heeled boots (like stilettos) or just high heels...am I crazy to walk around in a park like that--I normally wear my boots/heels for hours on end.

Nope, I would do the same thing... but I would make sure they are comfortable, lol. Like a wedge boot or a low heel.

If you're used to it, I don't see how that's crazy at all! I'm actually more used to walking in heels and flip flops, and sneakers really hurt my feet. As long as you know that you're in for tons of walking, it's obviously your decision! Maybe go with a chunkier heel instead of a stiletto? Like some of the PPs have said, the ground can be pretty even around WDW. My biggest concern would be rolling an ankle!

Even if you *are* overly concerned about what other people think, in this case those other people are going to think you're crazy! So it's lose-lose!! ;)

SO true! lol

I see women in heels at NASCAR races, again, what are they thinking? Mud or gravel parking lots, concrete and asphalt, drunks falling on you ... consider the possibilities!

I love my Crocs at Disney! They really are comfortable.

Two points - November can be variable. Early November still is pretty much shorts weather - late November is more long pants weather.

That said - jeans a mixed prospect any time of year. They are HORRIBLE on the water rides. Every time I go to WDW I see another person in the rest room near Kali and they are standing in their underwear trying to dry their jean under the hand blow dryer until they realize the effort is furtile. Ofen there is actually a line of similar folks wasting time in a line for the blowdyer. Talk about looking silly! You often see the sme thing outside Splash MTn. Even denim shorts are a poor choice onthe water rides. Sneakers on Kali are equally a bad idea, by the way.

The other problem with jeans is the pockets. They don't hold anything. At WDW, pockets are your friend. You are much better off wearing something like khakis, which has some secure pockets. I hate fanny packs. First I try to carry only the minimum. I try to avoid carrying any bag at WDW, but if I must carry anything, it should be something hands free: a mini backpack, or something that hangs across your body. (Like a mini messenger bag)

As far as shoe choice, if you don't like sneakers there are some great walking shoes out there. I personally find the best thing is to alternate between sneakers and high quality sandals. If you injure your feet your trip will be ruined. Keeping your feet in good order is one of the most important things at WDW.

Don't forget to factor in the rain and the heat. Heat can make your feet swell, especially when you are walking miles on end. Wet feet can be uncomfortable in any shoes, but in heels it can be torture.

Find some nice low shoes you can live with. If you don't you may find yourself buying a pair of Crocs at the parks.

They are your feet. only you know if you are crazy to wear a specific pair of shoes. if you can walk and stand for hours at a time in them, power to ya. don't be surprised if you end up on badshoe.com however. or get stares and eye rolls, or outright comments.

but then who cares, as long as you are comfy that is all that matters

I think you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Everyone will have opinions on whether you should wear it or not. But it's really up to you.

Personally, I would never wear heels with jeans anywhere, but that's me. At Disney, if it's cold enough to wear jeans, I wear them with athletic shoes/sneakers. And I'm comfortable.:)

I must admit that when I see someone wearing heels at a themepark, I often wonder why? The sad thing is that I see many who don't know how to walk in heels. Obviously, they don't have much experience with them. Otherwise, they would know how to walk in them. So I cringe :scared:at the pain they must be in as they manoeuver through the park's uneven ground. I don't think that would be a fun vacation.

So if you're comfortable wearing heels, then wear them. Just be prepared with an extra pair of shoes just in case you realize it's too much walking for heels.

I love Crocs, and they have some high heeled versions - might give you the best of both worlds - higher heels but cushiony comfort.

I don't like the whole jeans and tennis shoes either, but Disney is a different story. I find that the white tennis shoes are the worst offenders with jeans. And to answer your question, yes that would be crazy.:)

Ok...I'm confused!:confused3 What's with all these people saying that jeans are not cute with tennis shoes???? I think that nikes are perfectly cute with tshirts. Now, I do agree with no tennis with dressier tops, but come on...casual it's cute!!! I like to think of myself as a VERY fashion forward gal. I'm also a hairstylist/make-up artist who loves her coach and prada's when she dresses up...but casual jeans and tennis shoes ARE perfectly fine for casual weekends and vacations like Disney! :goodvibes

Yes you are crazy! And you will be pointed out and laughed at all day. Disney is not a place to wear heels..let alone stilettos..

I wouldn't wear high hells(ooops!high heels-freudian slip;)) in the parks. Heck, I avoid them as much as possible at home..only wear them for special occasions. I must be doing something right, because I have nice feet.

They make some real cute athletic shoes these days..I took a pair of the Ed Hardy sneakers last trip and wore them every day.

Would you wear high heels while hiking? You will be doing some serious walking at WDW on uneven surfaces for a long time (possibly in the rain). If you think you will be comfortable, go for it. But even with the most comfortable shoes ever, you may get blisters under those conditions. Take moleskin with you.

If you are used to it I say go for it. However after my recent experience it is something I will never do again. I was there this past weekend for a DIS group meet. Saturday night I went back to the room with the two girls I was rooming with, they wanted to dress for dinner. I was wearing jeans, flipflops and a top. I decided to change as well because I thought after Biergarten we were all going over to Atlantic Dance Hall anyway so I should look a little nicer.

After dinner I ended up meeting another DISer at Magic Kingdom instead. When I got to the park I thought about running into one of the stores and grabbing a pair of flipflops but the park was only open for another 90 minutes. I thought I would be ok.

Well let's just say after a round trip from the front of Epcot to Biergarten, 90 minutes running around Magic Kingdom (btw it is not very easy getting in and out of rides with heels on, especially the wet ones and moving sidewalk ones) and than another hour or two at Atlantic Dance Hall my feet were done. I had some of the worst blisters I have had in my life...4 to be exact.

One of the DISers is a local and kindly went to Target and got me some moleskin. Without it I would not have been able to walk around. I had to wear flipflops the rest of the weekend because of my feet...even though it was freezing Sunday night at the Halloween party.

So for me...lesson learned...never again...flipflops or sneakers. :)

btw these are shoes that are well broken in that I wear to work and out often.

Once upon a time, I was accustomed to high heels all day, and could walk a long distance in them. The problem was standing still in them for long periods of time, which is what you do at a park.

Use this opportunity to find some cute flats or low heels.

After working in the banking industry for 36 years and wearing high heels every day for 30 of those years, I have now found that it is extremely painful to even put my foot down in a normal flat position. Never mind the pain of wearing heels to Disney, get out of them now before you end up like me! I have tried to stretch my tendoins back normal, but they will never get back. Your tendoins are slowly getting shorter on the bottom of your feet when your foot is in an arched position. You may look good now, but it will come back to haunt you. Trust me...

I almost never wear tennis shoes. But, since my daughter started dancing and I have to walk in parades, I bought a pair of nikes which I wear with my jeans. Do i feel short? yes, but it is so so so much easier to walk on pavement in tennis shoes than boots and heels. I wore 4 inch heels today to my daughters birthday party and was on my feet maybe 5 hours and i was shaking my feet hurt so bad before i took those things off.

It may be to warm during the day in November to wear jeans. Lightweight capris or shorts maybe more appropriate too.
