Has anyone's ressie been cancelled yet over "The Code"

I'll add to this mystery. I called CRO today to see about splitting my resort stay so we could stay a couple nights at POR and the rest at ASMo, which is where the ressie was for. She explained that it would cost more money because we would need to have a 1 day ticket for each of us to enable us to have the dinner plan for that day. I hadn't considered that and told her that I needed request a frig for our ASMo room. I told her I had read there was a butterfly garden at POR and that we raise butterflies in our home, so I was just hoping to spend a couple of days there, but couldn't afford the entire stay at $139.00 a night. I also went on to explain that I had already tried the pin code that isn't a pin code thing last week and that I have no pin code associated with that code (I said what it was) and that I haven't received any postcards since that time. I told her I would keep hoping for free dining. She asked if I could hold a moment while she tried to "adjust" my account. Didn't know what that meant. She came back on and said that it was done and that we were now at POR for 11 nights with the discount. I said "No, I'm not eligible for that discount. I don't have a pin code." She said, "That code is not a pin code and since you knew it, you are eligible." I've checked online and it shows us at POR for the right dates and shows our balance owed as being about $50 more than it was when we were paying rack rate at ASMo. I have written a letter with the girl's name and EXACTLY what was said in the conversation. I in no way attempted to get a code I wasn't suppose to have. I told her I wasn't eligible. She said I was, even though I didn't have a pin code.

So now I'll wait and see. I've printed the page from the internet that shows our dates, location, tickets, dining plan and balance owed after deposit paid.

Yeah!!  Congratulations to you!!!  Enjoy the butterflies.

Certainly Disney has the right to cancel reservations, however to compare this situation and the booking of concerige rooms for $50 and the BW situation is completely and totally misleading. Even if Disney had wanted to eat the cost of the computer glitch in that situation they couldn't as they taxes were more than the amount.

That situation was a computer software malfunction in the online booking system which resulted in ridiculously low rates, not discounted rates. Also it was only available on certain dates and with certain criteria imputed into the booking system to make the glitch appear.

If anyone wants to argue the possiblities as to why these discounts might be cancelled, then by all means I think everyone is willing to listen. But why keep bringing up a situation that has nothing to do with this one.

This promotion is legit. As to whether some have been given it that were not suppose to that is Disney's decision. But it won't be based on anything that happened with the computer glitch situation.

It is very possible that some that got the discount that some here feel were not entitled to were in fact given a discount that is unknown to all of us.

I hadn't thought about it earlier, but it's very interesting that when I was wanting this code for value resort, it was unavailable to me 4 different times, but the minute I call, talking about moving to a moderate resort, but can't afford rack rate, it is. They are getting a little more money out of me than they were before. Also, if they let people use this discount for those value times, they are saving money vs. not letting us use them and offering free dining for September.

might just be because the value resorts are sold out.. I called over a week ago.. and I could only get into sports with the code. Everything else was gone gone gone for my dates... so you can't blame us spreading the word around and the values being sold out.. because they have been sold out for awhile.. at least for end of may june

And worth noting this thread has been around for a few days now and so far no confirmed reports of reservations being cancelled for using the code inappropriately.

Over last couple days, I have actually phoned in on multiple occasions added on room requests, made payments (I am officially Disney poor now - paid off the vacation package), etc. Nothing yet.

A friend of ours going at same time and used the same code through their AAA agent have been working with their AAA TA for last couple days too and nothing either.

Of course, we may have some mysterious pin/code attached to our accounts, but no one has told us.

I was just thinking the same thing earlier. A lot of people have said the codes won't be honored, but so far that is just speculation, no one's has been cancelled (specifically because of the code issue) that I have heard of.

I wonder when the earliest trips people booked with the code (and aren't sure if they have a pin) are? I'd like to see how long until we know for sure someone booked and actually went on their vacatin without having the discount taken away. Or the opposite, someone who comes back and reports that they got to the resort and were charged more (I still can't see that happening, maybe Disney will contact people by phone, but wait until they get there, I find that hard to believe). Mine isn't until November, so I'm sure someone is before me.

What I do know is that my house is a mess and my kids haven't had a decent meal in two days because I've been stuck to the computer reading about this. :surfweb: My husband is about to call our cable company and tell them to disconnect our internet. I realize there is nothing I can do about it, I realize all the information so far is speculation, I'm usually a rational person, but I can't seem to stop reading it. I think this obsession is starting to fall under a mental illness category. Is there a 12 step program out there for something like this?

MuMom:

I know what you mean.. These boards can be addicting. For sure.

It's like watching a train wreck or reality television show.

That makes me think of the OJ white Bronco chase back in the a few years ago. I was glued to the TV staring at the car driving around southern California.

OK - I'm really getting tired of using the "close this thread" option!

Can you all please get it through your heads - this is Disney's screw up - not any other poster on this board. If Disney cannot manage their marketing programs any better than this why should we all get crabby with each other?

This situation has nothing to do with the BW situation last year. In that case there was no CM intervention - it was an obvious glitch - you had to enter just the right info/request in just the right way - and I'm sure if you look through the Terms of Use (good luck reading that) you all agree to by using the website - you will find Disney has covered themselves for a computer glitch.

On the bottom of the page on the web site it states:
Use of this site signifies your agreement to the terms of use (and it is a link)

This situation is one where CMs have been allowed to book this for over a week - are you really going to tell me that Disney could not have put a stop to this on day one - when we got our first report that a CM said these were not for public use?

We need to remember that this board is for discussing Disney Resorts Rates and Codes and not for legal discussions or speculation that raises hair on the back of peoples necks.

If you all cannot begin now discussing this civilly, without name calling etc - I will be forced to ask our admin to abolish all discussion of discounts and close this board!

OK - OK - OK that is an over reaction - just like a bunch of posts I've seen lately - obviously I'm not going to ask to have this board closed - but can you see where I'm coming from?

Thanks for talking some sense into this 'debate.' :)

I would be lost if these discussions go away. I mean, I might actually have to work at work.

I don't know how to do the quotes, but someone said this reminds them of watching the OJ chase.

I was in Disney World when that happened. My dad watched it in our room for what seemed like forever.

Withdrawl syndrome.... :surfweb:

Well, I called to verify my ressie after reading a few posts this afternoon. Wound up getting transferred to Guest Services. Speaking with someone right now. I'm on hold.

She came back. The Z code is definitely a pin code. She didn't say what would have happened if I showed up for my POR ressie and didnt have a pin code attached to my name.

Now I will just keep wishing for free dining and not worry about codes anymore.
