Where and how close is the handicap parking for the MK? My sis is going and has a handicap sticker and trying to decide if it's easier to just ride the Disney Transportation or drive to the park (she has a knee thing) and fight the traffic. This is for MVMCP.
Use WDW transportation. The buses drop you off right by the front gate. If you drive you have a very long walk to the TTC and then that whole mess to get there.
The buses are the way to go for MK and a handicap. ug:
Yep, take the busses to MK. If you drive, you have to go down, then up, a fairly steep ramp as you cross under a roadway to get to the TTC. Then you have to board a monorail or boat. The bus drops you near the park gates.
Another vote for the bus. Handicap parking is quite a distance from the TTC, probably further than the bus stop to the turnstiles. The bus is faster, a shorter walk, much more convenient, avoids traffic--the hands down winner! Enjoy!!
I agree with the folks above that the handicap parking is a long walk to the TTC and indeed, there is no tran service. BUt, there is another option to the buses.. when you pull in the parking lot, tell the CM you would like to park right by a tram stop and why. They have parking spaces blocked off for that purpose. Then you can just get on the tram right to the TTC.
That's why I didn't suggest it.
The boat is quite a long walk from where the tram lets you off and the monorail is a long walk up a very steep ramp (the monorail station is at 2nd floor level) and down the monorail ramp once you get to MK. There is no monorail elevator at MK or at TTC.
There are two categories of handicapped parking at parks,
(1) The handicapped lot for guests who must stay in wheelchairs is the lot closest to the park entrance (or ticketing area for Magic Kingdom) but some of the spaces are a distance away. Wheelchairs (and scooters) cannot be rolled aboard trams so trams do not stop here.
(2) (Near a tram stop) For guests who can board the trams the painted area on the ground before the first space in each aisle is a handicapped space you can ask for.
(I'm unsure whether a wheelchair that folds up and can fit in front of a tram seat can be carried on board, I would think yes.)
