Still Day 5, February 17

And another snack - this time from the Boardwalk Bakery

After our snack at Sunshine seasons we got on a few rides and then walked the countries.

Look what we spied in Germany!!

IMG_4368.jpg

They now nicked one of our Austrian trains!!! This is one of my pet peeves, what have they (the German Pavillion people) borrowed now.
They used to sell Haller Tex - which was clearly marked "made in Austria".
They still sell Ferrero chocolate - which comes from Italy.
And Toblerone is definitely Swiss!
End of rant!

After our leisurely visit to Epcot we took a Friendship to the Boardwalk to pick up another sweet treat.

IMG_4377.jpg

I had originally thought of getting a small Mickey Head cake but then this caught my eye!

IMG_4413.jpg

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake! So I went to try this - It sat in the fridge until the next morning, but it was still moist and sweet and peanut buttery. Very yummy. And it was quite a HUGE piece and rather on the heavy side, so I could not finish it for breakfast - I had about a third of it before I gave up and had to put it back in the fridge! ;) Don't worry, the rest did NOT go to waste! :lmao:

Next up - Fulton's Crab House

Still Day 5, February 17

Dinner at Fulton's Crab House

We went back to the resort and had a little rest time before we got changed and ready to head to Downtown Disney for our dinner at

IMG_4396.jpg

We arrived at the restaurant a little early and the reception area was packed! Having an ADR helped a lot as we were seated immediately while lots of other people had to wait.

Our hostess took us to a table overlooking the lake and handed us the menus. The server was on hand about 30 seconds later, we had not even had time to have a look at the menus. Now that server was extra sweet explaining away after we had told her that this was our first visit.

We ordered Diet Cokes and while we were discussing what to order our server brought out the drinks and this .......

IMG_4381.jpg

Fulton's Crab Boursin with crackers! Boy, this was GOOD!!!!!!!! :cloud9: We both loved it and luckily they give you the recipe!

IMG_4383.jpg

Next was this slightly warm sourdough bread, which was really tasty with the butter.
It did not take much longer for our main courses to arrive!

IMG_4388.jpg

Tom had Fulton's Crabhouse Seafood Trio - A taste of everything: perfectly seasoned wahoo, grilled shrimp and a super lump crab cake with basil cream and Yukon gold whipped potatoes. May I add that he was SUPER pleased with his decision and that he LOVED his dinner! The wahoo was really nice, moist and cooked and seasoned perfectly - the crab cake was to die for and the shrimp were yummy too.

I had thought long and hard about what I was going to eat. There were the crab claws everybody had raved about, but then I had NEVER had them before and it looked like a large dish and this was one of the main reasons I was undecided - I had NO idea on how to eat them! ;)

Well, as I mentioned before our server was really sweet and when I told her about my concerns she told me that I could order a half order and that the claws came prepared and she would show me how to open them properly. Now guess what I got :confused3

IMG_4384.jpg

YES, I did get the half order of crab claws - more than enough for me and they were WONDERFUL!!! :thumbsup2 Sweet and juicy and when dipped in butter ........... :cloud9: I don't think I will have a hard time deciding on what to get next time! ;)

IMG_4386.jpg

As I was only ordering a half order I thought that a side would be nice to have with my main course and since I love my veggies I got some grilled asparagus, which was really yummy and so much that we could easily share them.

IMG_4391.jpg

IMG_4390.jpg

See, I DID like it very much! :rotfl2:

Tom didn't want any dessert, but he wanted to have

IMG_4395.jpg

a cup of coffee and found this to be real nice coffee.

IMG_4394.jpg

I on the other hand have a very sweet tooth and dessert is my favourite part of the meal! ;)
So it did not take long to convince me to try the Milk Chocolate Creme Brulee - Our classic milk chocolate custard, dusted with sugar and caramelized into a crispy candy glaze, topped with fresh berries. Very nice Creme Brulee, even though I found the actual custard base a bit to thick. But that might just be me, the berries went really well with the milk chocolate, and let me tell you that I was not able to finish it! :scared1: It was just too much!

They do accept the Tables In Wonderland Card and after applying our discount we left and drove to Animal Kingdom which had Extra Magic Hours that day. We were lucky enough to find a spot to park our car real close to the entrance, so we did not have to wait for the tram and walked right in.
We went on all our favourite rides and did the Festival of the Lion King Show.

IMG_4406.jpg

We left shortly before EMH was over and went back to the resort to find turndown service had be done.

IMG_4399.jpg

IMG_4397.jpg

IMG_4400.jpg

All week we could not get over the fact that they had turndown service at a moderate resort!! :wizard: Adds lots of pixie dust to our vacation!

Next up - beverages at the coffee stand in the UK

How are the prices at Fultons? I am hesitant to pay OOP for it. We usually get the meal plan when we go and probably will be taking advantage of dining when we go in 2011. I really want to try TREX or Fultons but am not sure which one we want. (I am up for my normal insomniac Disboard session at 4am what time is it there?) The claws look yummy!

It's 10 am here! So, good morning! :goodvibes

Fulton's is a bit on the expensive side! A FULL order of the crab claws was a bit over 50 $ if I remember correctly. Don't remember what they charged me for the half order and Tom's was around 40 $. I remember the asparagus being 6.95, but then it was really yummy!
Do you have a TIW? It gets easier with the 20% discount and thankfully they just decided to accept it this year!

TIW = Tables in Wonderland Card

Available to Florida Residents and Annual Pass Holders. Gives you 20% off of most TS restaurants and some CS places.

We always buy one, even when we are on the DDP - it's good for adult beverages and any extras we might order.

Here's the link to the DIS page about it: http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneydiningexperience.htm

Great Fulton's review!! It remains one of our favorite places.:goodvibes Johnny & I are considering purchasing AP's so we can then purchase TIW's. Do we both need to purchase one?

Fulton's has made it on our "good list" as well! :lmao:

If you are purchasing APs only one of you needs to get a TIW. It is good for up to 10 people. You need to have one check and cannot split it beforehand. They do add an 18% gratuity, saves all the maths! ;)
It's good for all alcoholic beverages as well. We LOVE it! Actually after 3 or 4 meals it has paid for itself and the saving begins! ;) Love saving some money for Mickey! :woohoo:

BTW - I am working on my trip report (on my homepage - link in signature) and I hope I can put up the day we met you, tonight. :)

Okay, it is 10 in the morning here and my mouth is drooling over the crab claws! Unbelievable -- they are so good. Mark and I are so glad that you enjoyed Fulton's. I somtimes worry about recommending places because every one has different tastes, but this one is such a good one that I usually don't hesitate.

As for the turndown service at a moderate, that is NOT the norm. I think you got a little extra pixie dust at the CSR. :woohoo:

Those crab claws were unbelievable. Especially unbelievable as I have never seen any that BIG! :lmao: But then I haven't seen many anyway! :rotfl2:

I can't believe it's not the norm to have turndown service at the CSR!!! :scared1:

We had it every day and kept joking about how we never had it when we stayed at AKL! CSR is unbelievable - and we will definitely go back! Thank you so much for recommending it!!!

We don't have a annual pass and live in WI but it sounds like a good idea for those who come down there more than once a year:)

The AP definitely pays off for us as we usually stay for 3 - 4 weeks and now even go twice a year. :goodvibes And being Scrooge in our family I always make sure TIW pays off, even if we only use it for extras! ;)

You are very welcome. Now you see why the CSR is our "home away from home." :yay:

That Shortcake is so mine in Sept/Oct :teeth:

Fultons looks great and the Creme Brulee looks delish :thumbsup2

Maybe its just as well that we are not there at the same time, can you imagine if there was one slice left. Oh the carnage :rotfl:

Actually, that strawberry shortcake is mine, Walt said so:lmao:

Lots of joy over on the Dibb at the mo' because one of the UK travel agents (CompleteOrlando) is offering the 40% off SS/OKW deal and free dining in Feb, May and Aug-early Nov for 2011! Apparently Disney UK will be following in the next few weeks:cool1:
