Hakuna Kidani, What a Turtleful Phrase!

I'm spending this quiet morning (quiet since no one is up:rotfl2:) catching up on my favorite reports. And hungry after the last update. Makes me want to pack the car and drive to the World. Looks like we won't be back until Nov 2014:sick:

Glad you got to catch up with the happenings with your Distown friends. You may not be going back to WDW soon, but from the pictures I see on FB, you guys stay pretty busy with lots of other fun things.

Have I already asked you if you have tried at the Wilderness Resort and the waterpark in Gatlinburg? We need to check that out one of these days. I still want to go to Dollywood. We had that DIS meet planned there, and then the wedding changed the meet to being in Nashville. We also want to go to St. Louis to see that zoo and the Gateway Arch. We also want to go to Mall of America and see some fun things up north. There is just this little matter of money.......:upsidedow........and whenever we get any, we still want to head to Disney World.

Okay A) - you NEED to come up to the Mall of America! We would be there for sure!!! It's about 20 minutes from my house. And there's a Disney store!

B) The cars actually look kind of cool - Dave would enjoy that.

C) on gifts from fellow DISers...Not a DISer but I have a story to share. My friend's daughter just got married - 22 years old, fresh starting a teaching job this fall. They were going to FL on their honeymoon (IN JULY!!!) and she asked me for tips about Epcot b/c that's where she wanted to go. So I sat with her one day at lunch and she's writing down all this stuff (you know, where to eat mostly!!) For part of the wedding gift, we gave a Disney gift card. During her honeymoon she texted me and asked for my address. I thought, that's weird, she had it for the invitation and I put it in the guest book, why does she want it now? Not for one second did it occur to me that she would be sending something from WDW. A couple days ago, we received a cute postcard with a really sweet thank you note for the WDW info and GC! So thoughtful! She's like that - her whole family is. Just wonderful!!!

Okay, I'm done.
The picture of Sophie with her blanket scrunching up is so cute!!!

Off to Vero! YAY!:woohoo:

I am officially caught up (even though I have tons of laundry to do and a dishwasher to unload).

Let's see what I can remember...

Gaston T shirt - different for sure.

Dont bother me I'm on vacation T shirt - Could that work if I wore it TO work? :rotfl:

Last picture of sophie in the purple ears - priceless!

Shopping pictures - no one takes better pictures.

Chip in the mug? Really? I guess I better read about that. When is that starting? I'm always the last to know. :rotfl2:

AoA resort - very, very cool. Hope I eventually get a chance to stay there.

Love the car pics. We always go to Olde Town when we're down there to see the old car show they have every Sat. My dh loves old cars. Today we went to Menard's (home improvement) and what did I see in the garden center? Mini mingos, and that's exactly how it was spelled on the box. There were 2 in the pack and they are meant to go in outdoor flower pots. Gave me a smile as I thought of Bella and her mingos.:)

MINGOS COVERED IN JEWELS! Hehe The most sparkly mingos ever! :goodvibes

The Precious Moments Disney dolls look so... precious! My mom used to have a lot of those and so did my Nana so they remind me of my childhood. Don't have much interest now, but I must admit those eyes are just so perfectly puppy-dog-pouty perfect (haha, you think I've used perfect enough already lol)

What a cool idea for Father's Day Weekend, a car show! I'd probably just end up waiting in line to see Mater and Lightning myself, but who knows... I could use this a ploy to get my dad in Disney though I'm not sure if his car interest goes beyond my own

I've heard so many good things about that theater and now I kinda want to see if one day I'll be able to check it out. I have a "dine-in" theater like that near where I live, but it doesn't look anywhere near as nice as this AMC in Disney.

Love the Lightning McQueen topiary, wondering if they recycled that from the one that used to be out front at EPCOT (unless it's a still there... it's been awhile ya know.)

Can't wait to hear about the "Turtleful" part of this trip! :mickeyjum

We had come to Downtown Disney for the specific purpose of seeing this car show. We really have little interest in cars, except for that we are glad to have them to get us from place to place, but this was something different in Disney World (for us), so we wanted to experience it.

You forgot to mention how very expensive, I mean free, this was! ;)

How many of you have seen a movie here?

We have not done that yet.

I have! John and I saw Chicken Little there on our 2nd anniversary trip.

This is what Sophie does when she gets in her car seat.

Sweet baby!

When you said you wanted to be past Atlanta by a certain time, I knew you were from tn:) that was always our motto before ditching that car ride for an airplane!

We have talked about a trip to Mall of America for several years. I wish we could make our Disney trips and go to all these other places!

Drew would have enjoyed seeing the cars, too. I am going to show him all the pictures whenever we cross paths and it is convenient for him to sit down and see them.

Disney packages or Disney postcards - both are very nice! :cool1: When we send packages, we get pleasure out of thinking of the recipients smiling (hopefully) as they open them. :)

I think the Minnie vacation t-shirt should be made as a poster. ::yes:: I would probably buy that.

RFID mugs - that's a big topic right now. They are going to be priced by day up to four days, and after that the price will cap out at $18.99. They will be good at all resorts. The design didn't change, which is the biggest drawback to me. I was ready for a new mug design. Paper cups will have a four limit refill within the hour you buy them.

I think Distown will have to put in a mingo pond at the city park. :goodvibes And for the men, we will bring car shows to town several times a year. :car: We want our Distown men to be happy. :thumbsup2

Jill has several Precious Moments figurines. They are adorable.

Chip Foose, who is some guy who is a big deal on the cars/Cars scene, was there giving autographs. There was a long line to see him. I actually saw a video clip that he made at Art of Animation over by the Cars area. I wouldn't have known who he was had I walked by him, though.

We want to try the dine-in theater experience, as well as do some Disney bowling. Not sure when we will get to either of those.

Sweet baby!

I think I did not know you had seen a movie. :)

Sorry you spent your hard-earned money for me to see those cars. I am eternally grateful to you for the sacrifice.

Yes, she is a sweet, smiley baby! Can't wait to see her in a few hours!

When you said you wanted to be past Atlanta by a certain time, I knew you were from tn:) that was always our motto before ditching that car ride for an airplane!

We normally fly, but since the trip was going to be chopped up into three places, we needed a car this time. We'll be back to flying in December. I have to admit, when we first started flying, I was against it, but it only took 1-2 flights for me to be convinced that less than two hours of fighting my claustrophobia was worth getting on down there!

!

Well, first of all if they are going to put a chip in them then they should definitely change the design. I pity the poor unsuspecting fool who tries to use an old mug. :rotfl: Why even set someone up for that possibility. Plus, it is definitely time for a new mug design.

Question - if I buy a mug at resort A and change to resort B then later resort C in the same stay, can I still use the mug? I am literally changing resorts 3 times in October (hope to get it to 2).

I know they can be attached to a meal plan, but what if there is no meal plan and you are staying like 14 days at different resorts. I wonder how that works.

Not that it really matters that much as I often find the soda refills inconvenient and just bring my mugs to mix my own adult beverages. ;)

I've seen TWO movies there. The first was Up and the second was Alice in Wonderland. I love the seating, being barely five feet tall it is important to be able to see over anybody sitting in front of me. :rotfl:

The theater is very nice. We went awhile ago to see The Princess and the Frog. That was before you could get served real meals inside.

I wonder how the food is in there?

We saw two movies there, Love Actually, one of my favorites ...could have skipped the porn stars in it! LOL! But that was funny, how blasé they were. The second movie was Runaway Jury, or something like that. I guess we had so much time because it was when our older son worked in WDW, so we went more often.

DH would have enjoyed the cars show. We have seen 1 movie there. We saw the third Pirates in 2007. It's easy to get lost in there, it soooo big and soooo many screens. The picture of Sophie in her car seat is just precious.

It does not give me much hope that there will be a new design any time soon. I have read different things about the mugs, and one article did discuss the changing of resorts. Seems to me they could just activate the chip for however many days at the original point of purchase, but the article I was reading, and I really don't remember where this was, indicated the cup would need to be reactivated at each resort. I sure hope that is not the case. That seems like a hassle. Like anything new, we can read about the speculations, but we'll have to see how it really plays out.

Way behind again but don't want to miss the fun! :wave2:

You've been busy running around to ballparks! Hope you guys have had a most wonderful summer! Mine is over with as of tonight.

I'm tall, so I always scrunch down a little to be sure people like you can see. :goodvibes

I have not read reviews on the food. We'll have to give it a try sometime. It would be cool to see Saving Mr. Banks down there at Christmas! Jill and I might have to think about seeing it later one evening when the girls have already been put to bed.

No, porn stars are not who I want to see at a Disney theater. :faint:

What Disney job/jobs did your son have?

I got to see sweet Sophie today. Trent, Brandi, and I met Jill and her bunch at a Cracker Barrel at the halfway point and had brunch. Sophie chowed down on some pancakes, and Brooklynn ate a normal breakfast. Bella, the little bird-sized girl took a few nibbles of a sausage biscuit and was ready to get up and visit around the table. She beat me in a game a giant checkers out on the porch before we left. ;)

One of these days, I hope to make it inside that theater to check it out myself.

***********************************************

I hope you have all had a good weekend with family and friends. This is New School Year's Eve for me. We are back to in-service days tomorrow. Students report August 1 for a half day, then return on Monday. Friday, we have team meetings and the offices have time to work out any kinks that occurred on the half day as far as transportation and zoning issues and such.

Along with a new school year, I have picked up a part-time job to help pay for my Disney addiction. I won't say what it is, due to certain privacy issues that we seem to have had a problem with recently, but it will be anywhere from 2-4 nights a week, depending on what is going on that week. I won't make much, but every little bit helps when it comes to saving for Disney, right? :earsgirl:

So, the report will go on ever so slowly. There will be batches of pictures all at once, and then there will be lulls. No one is holding their breath to see any of this, so we just hope you will enjoy the pictures when they come. We hope that they bring you Disney happiness, thoughts of things to come on future trips, and good memories from your own past trips when you see them.

Have a good week ahead!

MeMom, I am another of those long-time lurkers who really enjoy reading you and your daughter's trip reports. It is so true what others have said, I feel like I know you through reading them. I love when you talk about Pop Century, or shopping, or seeing a show, and I can picture exactly where you are. Keep entertaining us when you have the time, and good luck on another school year. Take care.

Good luck for the first day back at school! Seems ridiculously early to me considering we have over a month to go!

Anything for extra disney $$ right? Hope it goes well!

I'm always looking forward to your pictures, but I'll try not to hold my breath.

I posted a while back and wanted to let you know I am still here reading, just not really posting cause I have a lot going on. The girls are all so cute though. Everything that you do with them reminds me of things that I used to do with my grandma when I was a kid. I know they will cherish those memories forever. You are starting early and my college is starting the latest it has ever started I don't go back until August 26. Hope you have a good school year and the kids don't give you to many problems.

Summer went by SO FAST!! I can't believe it'll be August this week. Just wild.

I don't know if I've said, but I sold my condo & I'll be moving in the next few weeks so in my free time, I've been packing boxes & doing Goodwill runs. :) I'll live with my parents for a few months while I decide what place I want.

I'm glad you got to see the girls this weekend -- that's nice you're close enough to meet halfway.

Anyone use Garden Grocer? Do the cold foods stay cold when they are dropped off at the resorts?
Haven't decided whether or not we will rent a car or take a taxi to Walmart.
Seems easier to have things delivered.

I haven't used Garden Grocer but here's what I know from CM experience. When Garden Grocer delivers to the resort and the guest isn't in the room, CM will keep cold groceries in a fridge until delivered to the guest.

No chocolate chip pancakes, how sad.

I like the one with the all pink handles.

The snow white shirt is cute.

So sweet of the nameless DISfriend.

I don't know much about cars either but some of those look nice.

I have watched a movie there. It's my favorite AMC theatre. But that was before there was Dine-in theatre options.

I want to do Disney bowling too.

Good luck with the new school year at the PT job.
