GTY STATS--When are room assigned?

We live in just over 50 days and still don't have a room number. Does anyone know when they generally make room assignments? We are booked for a 09B on the Fantasy.

Anytime really but normally around 45 days. Not to worry you I have seen them up to embarkation day, but from what I see around 45 days as cruise documents go out shortly after that.

Depends on what sort of guarantee you have. "Regular" GTY (where you have specific category selected, 9B GTY or 5A GTY, for example) are typically assigned around 45-60 days out.

Last-minute restricted fares (OGT, IGT, VGT) are typically assigned around 2 weeks out.

All that being said, any guarantee booking can be assigned at any time between original booking date all the way up to, and including, embarkation day.

I have personally done two GTY cruises, and two GT cruises. Both of the GTY cruises were booked well ahead of time, on the first one the room was assigned at about 60 days, on the second one it was just over a month before sailing. I was a little surprised the second time, because I had also been told to expect around 45 days. The GT cruises were booked much closer to the actual sail date on the first our room was assigned about two weeks out and on the second five days ahead. But as we had only booked that one nine days ahead, five days seemed like a pretty good deal to me

Can anyone tell me how often they upgrade the GTY rooms? As I said, we're in a 09B because I like the location of the rooms. We were originally in a different category but I didn't like the room we were assigned. The only rooms left in a place I liked were 09B and they were only GTY.

I'm hoping they don't upgrade us. Unless of course the pixie dust wants us to be able to upgrade to something with a veranda at the port. That I'll take! Haha

For the most part, if you book a guarantee room, that's what you'll get. Upgrades (pixie-dusted ones) are not as frequent as they seem here.

You can also call DCL and ask them to put a "no upgrade" notice on your reservation. There are no guarantees, but I'm told that this can't hurt....

Can you change a GTY room once its assigned? Like pay for a different cat?
