Ghost Hunters Thread & Personal Ghost Experiences & other Paranormal Talk.

Has anyone here ever been to Lizzy Borden's house in Fall River, MA? It's a bed and breakfast now. My sister, friend, and I spent the night there a few years ago. We didn't even know it was supposedly haunted until we were there, taking the tour!
When we were in the room where Lizzy's father was killed, I suddenly felt really sick, like I was going to faint. I had to sit on the stairs for a minute. Then up in the attic, I felt that way again. I had to quit the tour and go lie down in our room.
That night, we were in our beds, and it was dark in the room. (We had Lizzy and her sister's bedroom--it was like two rooms, joined together.) The bed my friend was in had a manequin beside it, wearing an old-fashioned dress. My friend said, "This manequin is creeping me out." The instant those words came out of her mouth, there was a brilliant flash of light in the room. After a second of stunned silence, my friend said, "What the f--- was that?!" Then she ran out of her room and jumped in bed with us.
I don't know what that light was. It didn't come through the window; it was just there in the room, and it lit up the whole place, like a flash bulb went off. I didn't sleep much that night.

jumoo- that is really scary. LB the world's creepiest story in the 1st place.

Great story jumoo!:scared1:

The TAPS guys went to LB's house but I don't remember what/if they discovered anything. Does anyone remember?

Nope, my memory says this is one time they found nothing, but I've been wrong before - at least once or so;) .

Donald...really...That is a very scarey thing to have gone through. I have never experienced anything like that but have heard that houses that have been renovated often "wake" up spirits. My mother used to SEE things as she would say and she said the difference is that when you see a spirit/ghost or whatever you want to call it, something deep inside you knows it is and you don't have the same fear as you would if an intruder was in front of you.

Jumbo... I have seen things about the Lizzie Borden B&B and we hope to one day go there. We go on ghost walks etc...usually never see anything and just do it for the fun and history of a place really. Now that I hear you might actually have an experience there...I might just chicken out. Baaaac Baaac

Diva, from your professional experience as a paranormal investigator, why are we having so much activity (I haven't mentioned all of what we experience in our house) in a new house. Built 8 yrs ago and we're the only owners - we contracted to have it built. I thought stuff only happened in older homes, but there's some weird stuff going on.
No investigator here but I've heard theories about this type of thing.

There could have been something there long before you built. Another structure could have existed or even if not, something could have happened on that property.

Also, some people think that spirits can attach themselves to objects rather than places. I've even heard that a spirit can attach itself to a person, literally following you home as they say in the Haunted Mansion. I find that one a little hard to believe though.

We live in a house that was built around 1870 in Maryland. We are just below the Mason Dixon Line. Even though it was built after the civil war- I was worried that there may have been slaves (or post slavery slaves- meaning even though slavery had technically ended I am sure slave conditions continued on many farms around here...) We have a tiny room that has a back staircase and when we 1st toured the house the realtor said-that may have been the slave or servant's quarters. I LOVED the house but that made me kind of sick. I didn't really want to live in a place with that history. (Not because of ghosts- just because... I don't know- it is just a terrible thing.)

Fortunately- I later learned that the house was built and owned by Quakers and they were anti-slavery even when it was very unpopular- even before Abe Lincoln and the civil war...

I have never had any paranormal feelings... in this house- but my daughter (the same one who saw the mist in Savannah) says that we are not alone in the house. She says she is always seeing a shadow move out of the corner of her eye in our hallway (near the steps- seems alot of people have activity near staircases in this thread)- but I don't know- she is a little drama queen- but after hearing breezy's ghost description matching hers so closely- she may have a heightened sense of perception. She also says that she isn't scared of whatever it is- she just swears that it is here. She thinks (and I agree) that our house has a nice happy feeling, a pleasant energy.

Still my logical side can explain all of this away. I love the fact that there are still mysteries out there. Makes anything seem possible, you know:goodvibes

This photo was taken by my co-workers in Elk County, PA. They were in a State Park looking for elk. They came across a very old tree, with a pine bench in front of it. It looked like the oldest tree around them & it was the only tree with a bench. :confused3 don't know what the significance of the bench was. My one co-worker took numerous photos of our other co-worker & her daughter in this same location w/ in seconds of each other. Only one had this 'orb' in it. It to me does not appear to be a flash, there was nothing on her camera lense, it was not raining, windy or humid.
they were in the woods- so no real sun spots/shadows
I checked w/ the ladies in the photo they said it was ok to post the whole photo.

Now this is just getting creepy. DH and I constantly see something on our catwalk when we're sitting in the greatroom watching tv. I've seen it since we moved in. You never quite catch it dead on, but it's something that always makes ya look. DH and I saw it for a couple years before we talked about it with each other. Funny story actually, DH and I are both sitting down and both turn our heads quickly to look up at the catwalk. We looked at each other and asked if the other just saw something too. We laughed when we told each other we'd been seeing it for awhile and neither one wanted to say anything. Whenever we catch each other looking at the same time anymore, we just roll our eyes and laugh. I have a lot more stuff that happens, but I'll tell y'all later.

BTW, our house has a warm feeling too, so I don't think "whatever it is" is bad.

Here's my first ghost experience in the old farm house in northern Mi: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=25208173&postcount=70

After that night there were many nights that a presense could be felt in that house. It didn't feel evil or anything like that, but just knowing 'it' was there creeped me out a little bit. I always knew when it was around because my cat would go nuts. He'd lay in the middle of the kitchen floor and meow very loud while lying on his back just like someone was petting him-this was out of the ordinary for him.

The last night I saw it my sister was over. We had just gotten back from an all day trip shopping in Saginaw (about 100 miles away). It was around 10 at night and she decided to stay while I put one of those large video cabinets together that I just bought. We were in the living room which was small, about 10x12. She was sitting on one love seat and I was on the adjacent love seat. I looked at her (she was next to the front door) and something caught my eye. I looked up and what appeared to be a large circle of smoke was above her head. It was like a shadow on the wall but it was wiggling yet staying in the same spot on the wall. The circle was about 10 inches across. I immediately pointed to it and said "look at that, do you see that?." She said "what in the heck is that?" and got up and came over to where I was sitting. We both sat their with our mouths hanging open. After a couple of minutes it didn't seem so scary anymore. The size shrank down a little bit, probably to about 4-5 inches for about another 3 minutes then it got larger again and stayed there for about 3 more minutes. I said to my sister, that there has to be some explaination for it. So I started moving the lamp around to see if it was some sort of strange shadow or something. It didn't change at all, we could still see it just fine.

I started feeling brave at this point because my sister was there. I started saying in a loud voice "Go toward the light, you don't belong here". I said that a couple more times (with a nervous laugh no less) and it disappeared.
Never again did I have any activity in that house.

My sister denied it for a while when I told anyone about it because she didn't want people to think she was crazy. I think she was more scared about it than anything though. I have to add that she didn't come over for a LONG time after that, if I wanted to visit I had to go to her house.

jumoo- that is really scary. LB the world's creepiest story in the 1st place.

At Lizzy Borden's they say sometimes people will feel a ghost kitty walking across their bed in the middle of the night. Lizzy supposedly throttled a cat once.

Sorry I haven't answered...tough week.:guilty:

Planogirl is correct.

And, yes, beware of hitchhiking ghosts.....LOL! I used to think it was joke too but that is how I got into this field; to validate my experiences, beginning with a "hitchhiker". And, trust me, just when you think you've seen or heard it all, you are always proven wrong. LOL!!

I love the history too.
My hubby and I went on a ghost tour at Williamsburg once. I loved it! Our tour guide was telling us about one ghost there who was quite the fashion plate back in the 1700's, and today she really likes people who wear unusual clothing with embellishments, etc. I happened to be wearing a shirt with big red buttons down the front. As we started to walk away, I felt something poke me in the chest!
So I just wanted to say, if you ever go on that haunted walking tour in Williamsburg VA, wear something fancy, and maybe you'll be poked in the chest by a ghost, too!

( I just realized as I was typing this that I sound like I was walking around with my clown suit on. "Big red buttons down the front"! LOL!)

Here's the story I promised. :goodvibes

This was when I was living in Mikado, (very rural) Michigan in the fall of 1993.

I was living in an old 1 story farm house, it was more of an old cabin that was added on to a few times. This house was out in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road, the nearest neighbor was ½ mile away and there were no street lights around either. The kitchen/dining area measured about 10x20 feet. I was sitting at the dining room area talking to my sister on the phone, it was already dark outside. I’m facing the kitchen sink which has a large window over it, about 4’ wide, it’s at the opposite end of the room from me. All of the sudden a large shadow came out of the wall, just to the left of the window, slowly went across the window and went into the wall on the right side of the window. The paper towel was hanging on the right side of the window and when ‘it’ went into the right side of the wall, the paper towel that was dangling started fluttering like a large wind just came through.

I told my sister what was going on while it was happening.( I guess I was telling her in a very high-pitched excited voice too because she made fun of it for a while after that. ) I just couldn’t believe my eyes. I then informed her I’d be spending the night at her house. She lived about 15 miles away at the time. I couldn’t get my shoes on fast enough to get out of there that night.

This was my first sighting in that house...

Has anyone ever seen the non-fiction book titled “I Never Believed in Ghosts Until…”
Well I totally know what they were talking about with that title now. I always thought it was a bunch of hogwash until I saw it with my own eyes.

I have not been on this thread for a while but do you know who wrote the book you mentioned? I have a gift card from Barnes and Noble and would love to get it today.

That was pretty spooky ward. The fact that it was just hanging around for awhile would have creeped me out. Sounds like you did the right thing though, since you haven't had any more activity.

I'm going to get that book for my summer read - thanks for mentioning it and thanks to the PP who reminded me about it.

Oops, I had started a thread about this very show and didn't see this one. I LOVE Ghost Hunters!!!!
