Hi All,

I think I read a thread a while ago about the new boats on Pirates - and that the front two rows of passengers get soaked from the knees down.

Is this still happening?

Just ride in July, and no one got soaked...,splashed some yes, but nowhere near being soaked :thumbsup2

You don't get soaked by any means. That's a far exaggeration. If you're in the front row, your legs might get a little wet at the bottom of the drop, but not soaked from the knees down. It's about enough to wet you, but then be completely dry by the end of the ride.

Second row shouldn't get wet at all. Maybe the two people on the outsides get their arm wet, but nothing serious.

I've rode in all the rows since the newer boats, and I've only been wet one time while in the front row. I've seen people on here compare it to going on splash mountain and there's just no way lol. So if someone is pondering if they'll get wet on Pirates, it won't be nearly enough to worry about.

I sat in the front last month. Bottom of my legs got wet and so did my bottom. I think there was water in the seat already, but more my have gotten in. It was actually a little refreshing.

It's just that the water appears (and may actually purposely be) so dirty and grimy! You can't blame people for not wanting it on them. The Splash Mountain water is filtered and pretty looking.

And my other big concern are the posters that said what got soaked were their sneakers! There are very, very few things that could spoil a day for me in Disney...but having to walk around in wet, soggy, squishy sneakers all day would be one of them.

We rode it 5 times in a row late last night. Our family of four had a boat to ourselves each time. :cool1: Nobody got wet feet. We were in the first, third and fifth rows. Our bottoms got wet from the seats and I got the back of my shirt pretty wet twice (from the shooting cannons - but not from the drop).

Splash Mountain?

We rode the other day, and were in row three. My Dad was sitting on the right side, and got a pretty direct shot of water from one of the cannon balls. His shirt got Splash Mountain wet on the right side of his body.

I have read a lot of info on the new boats and it seems hit or miss. Some people do get fairly wet and others don't. My plan is to bring a towel for us to sit on and to wear ponchos. We might look like morons but I'm not taking any chances with these new boats and the water cannons. Frankly- I think this change is a PIA. I liked that it was a boat ride with no chance of getting wet.

You're comment made me laugh , but good call if you want to stay dry.

On our last trip we were offered front row and declined, after reading these boards. Next people on line were very excited to sit in the front row. They got soaked :guilty:

I think it varies how much water gets into the boat each ride, but if you sit in that front row, be warned.

Towel, yes. But you really don't need a poncho.

I was a bit upset. We had a 2 month old baby with us. They put us in the front row with no warning. The baby was drenched. We never would have brought him on that ride if we had known about the new boats.

i never heard that and i didn't experience that.
my most recent trips were dedcember 2013 and july 2014.
oddly enough i was in the first two rows every time i went on it and i got no more that a sprinkle as usual.

maelstrom on the other hand.... now thats one that i always be careful of.
i've gotten absolutely soaked in the first row TWICE.
the CM's could not believe it.

This is very weird. It seems to vary so much. We have NEVER gotten wet on it, new boats or old. Damp yes, drenched no!!!

I've sat in the front row of the new boats multiple times and have never been "drenched." There has been some spray from the big drop, and some sprinkles from the cannonballs, but nothing that wasn't dry shortly after disembarking.
The last time I rode the seats were wet and gave us nice water spots on our bums, but we didn't get a drop on us on the actual ride. :confused3
