getting wet on Pirates

Note to self: wear poncho next time. Never have I ever gotten more than a few drops from POTC, but this thread.... Poncho. I hate being wet.

Rode a few times last week.

One time, my daughter and I in front row, me on right. I got fairly wet - more than a splash, but not soaked.

Another time, a soaking on one side from a cannonball.

But we noticed that they were not loading the back rows of any of the boats. Anyone know why? I asked and they gave me a lame explanation about pirate ghosts.

Somebody lost a finger a month or two ago riding in the back row of Pirates. Nobody has ridden in the back row since.

my best friend and I rode it at the beginning of the month. We were only in the front once, where we were shoved in with another two-person family. Jem was on the left-hand side of the boat while I was in the middle. I was fine - just my feet got wet and I was wearing flip flops - but Jem was soaked. We kept requesting to not be put in the front for the rest of our trip.

I find this really a drag. To me, Pirates was a water ride only in the sense that you were calmly traveling on it (kind of like IASW), but now it has to be dealt with like it was Kali River Rapids or Splash Mountain, in the "you are going to interact with the water" department.

I wear a poncho on Kali the one time I ride it per trip (and don't care for Splash so no problem there) but it's a hassle to have to bring a poncho to MK every time I plan to go on POTC! I really, really don't like to be soaking wet, or have squishy wet sneakers, and be in and out of air conditioning when I'm damp.

I don't care about FP+ or ADRs or Avatarland or 5 hour waits for Anna and Elsa or a million other things that folks commonly complain about Disney (not that people are wrong to be upset about those things!) but heavens, having a popular and traditional ride all of a sudden have a completely different outcome is ridiculous. It was never a "Guess what, you might get soaked" ride, nor does it have the words "Splash" or "River Rapids" in its name or any other sobriquet that would indicate that Whoops! You might end up with soggy sneakers!

The new boats seem to bottom out and cause water to come in, they clunk into each other with a newly won forcefulness, and oh by the way, a guy lost a finger. Maybe it's time to bring back the old boats, assuming they haven't unloaded them at the big CM warehouse store. ;)

I'm not sure the poncho will help... The water seems to be coming over the bow... We were from row and my shoes got soaked (socks too)... It was an uncomfortable squishy night!

We got wet last week. A poncho wouldn't have helped a bit. The water came over the bow and underneath from our feet up. Our tails and legs were completely soaked. And btw, we had people in the back row on the boats we rode. We only sat in the front one time.
