Getting ready for Thursday... Or could you all wait to call until I do?

One question, why whould it be a good idea to get on the phone 10 minutes ahead? Are they answering yet or will they all be strolling in to work to 20,000 phones all ringing at the same time?

It seems to me you might as well call a minute ahead and that the Que would start not in order of those holding but whomever is calling when it opens. Or are you all saying it opens early and it is a good idea to call 10 minutes ahead?

If CRO is anything like the big call center where I used to work, there won't be "ringing phones." The operator has to log-in and press a button to indicate they are ready to take a call before it will ring through to them. But that was about 5 years ago, so the technology may have changed since then.

I'm not sure if there is any advantage to calling early or not. Other people were posting at 6:45am yesterday that they were on hold, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I really think it's more a question of when the operators log on and begin taking calls.

I guess it is a question of when the que starts answering instead of saying to call back maybe.

That is absolutely correct. Any calls coming in before the lines are "open" will get a recording that basically says "thanks for calling, our operating hours are . . . ." But if you go ahead and dial in, then you can just hit the redial button until you get the recording that says something like "thank you for calling, for reservations, press one . . . ."

I'm so glad I'm out of the loop on this one. Keep your fingers crossed for me when the AP discounts come out.

This is going to be as much fun as trying to win a prize on the radio show:rotfl: .
Now I just have to figure out my cover story as to why I'm on the phone so long since I don't plan on telling the kids;) .

I can answer that quite easily for you, Detroit is a big mess! Very big airport, no time to get in the lane you want to get to where you want, long walk from security to terminal. They do have a cool moving walkway though.

I think I'll hold out and wait for southwest to open up than. I love Buffalo it's so small and straightforward.

Oh yeah I'd pick Buffalo over Detroit any day but I didn't think Detroit was that bad... Of course I am used to Terminal 3 in Toronto where you have to walk 5 kms to get from your plane to customs....

The last time we flew out of Detroit we parked directly - and I mean directly - across from the door to the terminal. We were about 20 steps from the door. I think it depends on which terminal you fly out of....

Definitely worth waiting for Southwest's flights to come out for Buffalo, or check with Airtran...
