getting fit for your trip - a place to share & ramble

So, have been going strong on the old treadmill, so why I am disappointed:confused3
The scales are telling me I have put on 200 grams, however, my measurements have gone down.
I suppose it is a good thing that Iam losing centimetres, but I would like the scales to match!
Oh well, I will keep it up and see what happens next weekend......

Hope everyone else is doing well and that Karen has finally shook the dreaded bug!:thumbsup2

Still slow and steady here :thumbsup2

DS rode his scooter and I walked/ran tonight and I am tired but I feel good.
I think my work is keeping me on my toes, i'm constantly moving, usually only drinking water and eating fruit on my breaks, I bought new pants last week and they're getting a little looser around my thighs :thumbsup2

Looking forward to being more comfy in the plane seat ;)

I might (might) use the gym on The Fantasy, 30 minutes a day on the treadmill is better than nothing, but we'll see about that later.

i was so good with my diet yesterday... had lots of water, and just a cup of tea and an apple for dinner, since i wasn't feeling the greatest.

today, i've been ... not as good. i had mini chicken quesadillas and have been trying to resist the lure of the small tub of berry sorbet in the freezer...so far i have succeeded, but i hate trying to resist the sugar cravings.

stupid hormones and pms.

tomorrow is another day though, and i intend to kick start my new exercise and diet tracking regime. each day, an entry into my diary of what i've eaten & how much i've exercised so i can keep track of my progress...

Hi all :wave2:
I have just read through this thread from the start (laughing out loud quite often I have to say!) and am keen to get on-board this weight loss bus if you'll have me!

My story is pretty much the same old, same old: love food, hate exercise, eat too much, too often = too fat!

Have tried WW, Atkins, Dukan (which was the best but really hard to maintain long term) and ended up yo-yoing up a few kgs after every diet - so here I am at 93 kg, with dodgy knees which crap out when I run - or even do squats or lunges now (Jillian Michaels DVDs were my last big weight-loss effort and they shredded my knees big-time - shame, as I was kinda enjoying Jillian yelling at me and was definitely feeling some benefits in the rest of my body - just not my knees!)

Sooo I have recently gone back to fulltime work for the first time in 12 years (eek!) and worried that sitting on my butt in front of a computer all-day is going to see the kgs really pile on. At least I have no time for baking now, which has got to be a good thing!

Currently I walk for 30 mins every morning before work (with my trainer - see pic on the left!) Swim for 30 mins once a week in my lunch hour and do yoga once week. I bike to work but that is only about 15 mins each way.
Once it starts getting lighter I'm thinking I should go for a bike ride after work to get my heart rate up as walking really isn't doing that.
I also do a hill walk for at least an hour in the weekends.
DH has a pretty good home gym = treadmill, weights, so I should probably do some weight training but not sure where to start.

My goal is to lose 20 kgs before our WDW trip next May - or at least be well on the way.

Welcome Saskiwi :goodvibes

Looks to me like you're pretty active already :thumbsup2

20kgs by May is totally doable :yay:

Good luck in your weight loss and your trip planning, we're always here to listen :goodvibes

remember muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are exercising, you are toning and creating more muscle while burning fat..therefore your weight will go up but your size will go down.....so good work you:thumbsup2

and i still have the flu......I hate winterpirate:

welcome to heartbreak thread......we laugh, we cry, we avoid ice cream when we can.

i do love your trainer..where can i get one that likes to walk, mine likes to lounge surf and eat so no help whatsoever.:confused3

walking is the best and cheapest exercise by far, although I just dont have the patience for it....it bores me...thats why exercise classes are my torture of choice. Also with dodgy knees, make sure you have good shoes, especially if walking on hard surfaces....you may have to go and get fitted by someone who knows, but they will cushion your knees from the shock of walking on concrete.

I also recommend water..lots of it...BTW I HATE water....but it helps with the hunger pains and flushes out the toxins.

I also have started drinking tummy tea from T2...has helped with my bloating and water retention....

yesterday I went to the gym for 50 min....was great there was no-one else around, had the place fairly much to myself:cheer2:

Good work girls, and may this week be as positive as the last :grouphug:

BTW: to calorie count heres the website we use

Went for a run this morning (my first in almost 2 weeks, as we went away last weekend and I was too busy at work all week), and I am sooo unfit compared to this time a year ago, it's quite sad. I have 2 months now to put my best effort in and be as fit as I can be for our trip (and also my 20 year Year 12 reunion conveniently on the weekend before we go away). Haven't been too bad with the eating this week but I need to put in more of an effort there too.

you'll be surprised how quickly your fitness will return...:yay:

i hear you re: eating.....its this cold weather that makes us want to eat comfort food..they say on average we put on 5kg over winter.....and 10kg in the first year after marriage:upsidedow

Speaking of getting fit ;)

I have my workout mix playing for the yapping dog and his owners next door :rotfl2: I hope they're enjoying it...

I was going to go to the gym before work today :/ But it's raining.
So I stayed in bed...and had a nice big warm milo :)

...I'll exercise tomorrow :rotfl2:

So THAT'S what happened! So true! I'd also started to stack on the weight pretty much as soon as I met him :lovestruc . Right, it's all DH's fault!!! :rotfl2:

Welcome Saskiwi :flower3:

I did not have a good weekend  I got a stupid cold  Jinxed myself last week by proclaiming we'd been lucky with illnesses of late and then *whammo*. Just me at the moment, thank goodness. I don't want the baby (or any of them really!) to get ill. They seem to have inherited my husband's amazing immune system for the most part, so here's hoping...

Anyway sick me = unhealthy me. I had a wee binge yesterday. Not of disgusting proportions like I use to have, but still not good. Haven't exercised because I lose my breath just standing up. Feeling a bit better already today so I'm hoping the worst is past and I'll be back at it soon. :)

Was thinking at lunch time today that I might go back to 'clean eating' for a few weeks. Even though I find this mildly un satisfying, I feel so much healthier and well....cleaner after doing it. It's definately not a lifestyle that I could have perminantely. But doing it for 2 or so weeks every now and again as a 'detox' always makes me feel better. So grilled chicken and steamed veggies I shall be having for dinner tonight.

I'm having stew tonight
& hope your feeling better 5ofus.....

gym tonight, pump class.....i feel like crAp....oh well, may as well feel bad at the gym than sitting on the lounge at home feeling like crap:sick:

I know what you mean, I try and eat food as close to it's natural form (except for the meat ;)) although today I did eat pickled octopus with kimchi for lunch and 1 sushi roll, not ideal with the white rice but brown rice is

Did I mention my sister bought over caramel mud cake yesterday because i'm helping her plan a trip for next year :rolleyes1 ?

:rotfl2:

So two weeks ago I went gluten free as it was recommended for my arthritis which has been a total PITA lately so am willing to try anything. Most people lose weight when they stop eating gluten, of course this doesn't seem to apply to me...sigh...
I am now the heaviest I've ever been, heavier than the day before I gave birth :(
So needless to say this getting fit and healthy thing its not going so well, on the bright side I've had a massive improvement with my arthritis in the last week so I should be able to get my ample butt off the couch shortly
