getting fit for your trip - a place to share & ramble

I walked DS to school today, have done a load of wash, will wash my car then who knows...

But a 35 minute walk to start the day was nice, it's a lovely day today, a bit of warmth in the sun and no chill in the air :thumbsup2

Agreed! Todays been a beautiful day! But alas, i've been stuck inside all day selling pencils :coffee: Am hoping to get to the gym at least 3 times this week, but this horrible cold I woke up with yesterday is telling me otherwise  Hopefully afew early nights and some yummy (and healthy) soup will kick it out of the water by the end of the week :)

so have been really lax on the exercise again, and totally kicking myself for it, but while i'm battling this illness, i find that i have practically no energy and it's hard to exercise when you're worn out just getting out of bed

have been keeping good with the diet though. yesterday, i had an omelet for lunch, and fish & steamed veges for dinner. this morning i skipped breakfast (naughty of me) then stir fry veges with some noodles for lunch. dinner might just be some tuna salad.

i've gone out and bought some new clothes for the trip this year, and i have some existing clothes i want to take. i normally hate to wear long sleeve tops or jumpers, but since we're going in november/december, i'm going to do lots of light layers. i'm finding pants an absolute nightmare to try and buy at the moment but the tops are fitting really nicely.

capri pants... who invented these monsters?? i'm 5'10" - capri pants on me look awkward and wrong, like i made a mistake hemming my pants.

tonight i have a vegetable dahl & saffron rice for carlo, but am trying to avoid carbs as much as possible myself, so maybe just the tuna salad for me :)

hope everyone else had a productive day.

Hi all,

First up, thanks to all for the well wishes:flower3: You guys never fail to make me smile , so thank you :shamrock:It means a lot when you know there are people out there that sympathise. So, it was back to the hospital today for the results of all the poking and prodding and..................GREAT news, got the all clear with no changes to my levels and am now back and full steam ahead to reach that goal before October 24! I have been on the treadmill for an hour the last 3 days, and have been and bought some yummy salads and veggies to take to work for lunch this week!

I actually purchased our halloween party tickets this morning and we are now down to double figures of days to go at just 98, so it is all getting very, very exciting!!!

I really can't think of a better incentive than that!!!:cool1:

Yay MinnieSue! :cool1:

Alicia, sounds like you are doing well with your diet. Give your body a chance to recover before you try and get stuck into the exercise.

I'm feeling flat today. Tired and sluggish. I wish I could have stayed home, slept in (not likely with the boys, but it's nice to dream!) and then gone for a run to get the endorphins pumping. Alas, I'm at work, staring at a computer screen and dreaming of Disney....

I'm so excited about my shrinking tummy though. Poor DH hears about it all the time. It's good that it keeps me on track, although I'm far from 'slim'. Slowly but surely :)

I have a question for those of you with kids. Did you try and get them use to walking a lot before your Disney trips? Maybe I should post a thread on this.... I'd like for all of us to go for walks as a family when the weather is a bit warmer. It'll be hard for us to get them to give up their bikes for a walk, but I think it would be nice, not to mention to help prepare them for all the walking next year at Disneyland.

So this week I am doing/ have done

mon: squash
tue: step
wed: tonight pump....
then...
thur: squash
fri: fat burner

sat & sun rest........

:sad2:

Not much movement for me tonight, but I do spend 8 hours on my feet so as long as I don't eat crap i'm ok :lmao:

So cold outside.

Saw a friend tonight and she said "WOW you're looking slimmer" :hyper:

:thumbsup2

Woohoo! :thumbsup2

A good workout last night. I'm wanting sugar today though. Must be getting hormonal. I'm drinking tea instead. Hopefully I can stay strong!

Agrh I did this huge post last night and the system ate it.

5ofus - yes we are in kiddo training for DL. Our two are 4.5 years. We talk long walks down to the beach and along it without the bikes. I let the kids set the pace and we have the dog with us. The kids keep extending how far they go and we do potter a bit looking at stuff (as you do when you are that close to the ground). We eventually get so far we call Dad to collect us. They know it's a big walk when they get to the States and they know I'm NOT carrying them but it's okay to say 'I'm tired, lets have a sit'. My chief worry is footwear as the kids live in gumboots and I can't see them doing that in Sept heat in SoCal. I think I'll get them Crocs and pair them with socks for comfort. What are you thinking for in terms of footwear.

Minnie Sue Oz - you take care coming back up to speed, hospitals whack the stuffing out of people. The fitness will come back, you have the perserverace for it to do so.

Alicia - I hear you on Capris. I'm the same height. I also hate 3/4 sleeves. If I wear a combo of them I look like I've stolen a 10 year olds clothes. Capris are evil, unless you are stick thin you look like you've got giant carrots for legs and that you've wrapped them in canvas.

AFM - lost 2.3kg this week. So I'm nearly back at where I was two weeks ago before the ovary went mental on me and blew me up. I've done something to my Achilles tendon and I'm struggling to walk uphill, so I took the day off running today and just staggered behind the dog. I blew up at about 5km on the run yesterday, I remember less than a year ago I'd have been stoked to run 5km but now I look at it as a blow up. I need new trainers as my left one has a hole in it almost thru everything and that's got to be stuffing my Archilles.

I don't know what we'll do about footwear, I guess it depends on what time of year we end up going. The bride to be is looking at every month between March and October, so there is quite a bit of a difference in what the weather could be. She'll be setting the date in September so I'll really be able to plan then. I've just ordered more sneakers for all the boys and some new sandals/thongs for the big boys (love Endless.com!). DS1 has a pair of those clown-crocs that he loves so I might end up getting them all those if it's the middle of summer when we end up going (pray that it isn't :goodvibes)

When I told them last night that we're all going to start to walk to the park when it gets warmer, DS1 was horrified like only a 5 year old can be :sad2: I just don't want to push them too far, and have to put up with the whinging. DS3 will want to walk as well and I'm sure you know what it's like to walk anywhere with an 18 month old! - we might make it home by dawn :lmao:

They have a few months to get use to the idea though. It's dark when I get home at the moment, and weekends are so busy with swimming, soccer, football etc...

Not much to add, I had bourbon though tonight...but with Diet Coke, does that make it ok?

Finally starting to kick this cold! I feel fine but my nose is still a bit stuffy >.< I think it's time for a trip to the gym tomorrow morning before work!!!

Urgh, I'm still after a sugar hit today - what's wrong with me???? I thought I was past all this :( Fighting it hard...

hey:badpc:

glad to hear we are all still kinda on the wagon :hyper:
i am home AGAIN with this bl00dy cold, seriously someone just shoot me in the head:furious:
so no gym tonight....went last night for TTT, my shoulders are killing me.:sad2:

and yes, diet coke cancels out any alcohol, so really that was a no calorie drink:thumbsup2
