I called and asked and I was told that during the testing period you can use both the paper( Legacy) and FP+. Call and speak to FP+ Customer Service and they will say the same thing.
This was my experience as well.
The CM I spoke to specifically said it is a TEST haha NO WAAAAAAAAY?!?! *sarcasm* and both systems are available to those who've volunteered to test as a courtesy and as backup.
If you've never been involved in developing software or new policies and procedures let me let you in on a few little secrets....
They're testing
MDE and Magic Bands functionality not FP- or FP+. They know FP(+/-) works regardless if you pick up a paper ticket or schedule your experiences beforehand or at a kiosk. They know it saves time thus giving you more opportunity to give more money to The Mouse. That's why "double-dipping" is not a big deal. If anything more FP's give you more down-time to spend more money on that $4 bottle of water that would have been unavailable if you were in an hour long line. Haha. They don't need to count the number of times you experience attractions, that's a mute point in regard to if or if not MDE needs more tweaking or not.
Can you imagine tens of thousands of people relying on a FP+ reservations through MDE with no backup if MDE crashed. *GASP!!!* Yes folks, it could happen. In fact I have randomly lost reservations 2x now and I'm not even there yet. If I were going to ToT at my scheduled time that I planned my ADR's and entire day around and my MB decided to fritz or MDE goes down taking my plans with it and there is no other option except getting in a 90 minute line and I know I'm only testing this as a favor to Disney, you can add me to the annoyed guest count for the day and a bad survey result when I get home. Disney knows this, they're S-M-A-R-T. Hence the KTTW card. A courtesy and a backup.
Also, we ALL know how inconsistent information from CMs can be. They can barely consistently communicate about their current procedures and policies. There are awesome CM's that take their job to the next level making it their job to know (ChesireFigment, *fist bump*), but most know what they were told even if it's old or wrong and nothing more. Not picking on Disney, all huge companies go through similar things, it's just that people don't go on a message board and compare conversations they've had with customer service from AT&T or Wells Fargo like they do with Disney. It's going to take time for everyone to be on the same page and even then there will still be the rogue and new CM's struggling to assist us know-it-alls.
I really have a hard time believing a CM heavily involved with testing isn't aware of the functionality of a KTTW card and that it still works for FP-. I know communication is sparse, but really? Where has he been for what the last 10-15ish years? Haha. Seriously lady, tell your son to chill out. I get the IT world and the testing phase, if you're higher up there on a project it's "your baby" so to say, but since you said in another post he's going to work with RunDisney it sounds like this is not the case. Chill out and breathe. No one is abusing anything and for the most part people around here are morally sound.
Geeze to Pete. I got a little sassy and long winded, but really people, you're killing me haha.
48 hours until I toss my morals out the window! *skipping*
Haha.
