Freedom to Marry Day Protest Planned

As usual, the left ignores the point I made (PC allows bigotry against the right, but not the left).

But even given that, I'm willing to answer the question above.

No.

But interestingly, I've never heard a homosexual apologize for hijacking the adjective "gay" - so I guess they're proud of that.
:surfweb:

I know I am sweetie.

And I'm proud of our use of the rainbow and the use of the word "pride".

And no, PC does not allow bigotry against the right at all. PC does not allow bigotry. You seem to not understand that.

And I made an inquiry directed at you and was hoping to hear your response.

And those in our government do. We as a people have given them (directly or indirectly) such authority. And we usually vote on changes.

This is a Democratic Republic, designed to protect individuals from petty, immoral mob rule, such as is currently imposed on homosexuals right now. We are moving away from that, thank goodness. I really believe that somedat soon, we will have equality for all.

That said, I still believe that government should get out of the marriage business altogether.

The 14th amendment applies because gays do not have access to the equal protection that marriage laws grant them. Simple. And the courts (those darned activist judges) have been ruling that way. I guess you haven't been paying attention. Read up on the recent NJ ruling. :cool1:

Just to keep things straight, (no pun intended), the NJ ruling had to do with the New Jersey Constitution, not the federal Constitution.

But interestingly, I've never heard a homosexual apologize for hijacking the adjective "gay" or calling anyone who disagrees with their political agenda a "homophobe" - so I guess they're proud of both.
Just curious as I haven't been following this subthread.

You are actually upset that the word "gay" is used to describe homosexuals - and you think this is something homosexuals should apologize for? Really?

My question was why have not all courts ruled this way if it's so cut and dried.

The good news is that if we accept what Jesus did on the cross (see John 3:16), then all of our sins are forgiven and eternal salvation is ours. :cool2:

That's lovely, and very true but it doesn't address the issue of why you feel that your beliefs and only your beliefs should be law.

That's very true--the Supreme Court has yet to rule on this. Joe was referring to "courts".

Depends on the Christian.

:thumbsup2

What I always find interesting is how the old testament is nearly ignored by a lot of Christians until the issue of homosexuality comes up.

Which courts have not ruled in favor of gay marriage? Probably ones in states where the state constitutions have been altered by voters to specifically prohibit gay marriage. (I don't have a list of all court decisions on gay marriage. Do you?) This is why the Prez has been all hot and bothered to make an amendment to the US Constitution.

I know. Pretty darn strange, isn't it?

Henceforth it's going to be darn difficult to take future posts seriously.

I finally get it! If I accept him into my life I can be as hateful and narrow-minded as I want! It would not matter how I treated people because all of my sins would be forgiven.

See, Joe, this is the damage you are doing. You DO make people think this. You and other Christians like you. :sad2: Is this how Jesus drew in the masses? I think not.

No, and I completely disapprove of it's use in that fashion.

Gay is not an insult, unlike the bundle of sticks word. How is using that word to refer to homosexuals who accept their sexual orientation an attack on the right? At the time of taking on the sexual orientation meaning, it was a word that was becoming increasingly uncommon in modern parlance. The use of the word gay to describe festive or happy, appears to have been most common in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Homophobia is more controversial. Not everyone who disapproves of homosexuality has a phobia of homosexuals. But many people do react to homosexuals out of fear. In fact, the right-wing has been instrumental in the "phobia" explanation via the "gay panic" defense that condoned the physical assault of homosexuals.

And I thought I was misleading the brethren!

I'm thinking there must be a version of the Bible that reads:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life (except for gays).

And

Judge not lest you be judged (expect when it comes to gays - then it's OK to judge)

or anyone else that doesn't believe the EXACT SAME THINGS WE DO.

I don't care how you try to disguise it I don't care what book you quote or what so called moral high ground you stand on to deny same sex couples the right to marry is an act based in hate alone. Use religion to justify it if you want to. There are so many human beings denied basic human rights in this world based on a groups religious beliefs. There are women being killed because they were raped because of religion. What makes anyones denial of human rights right because there religion is different from the other religions that deny human rights? You might as well be apart of the taliban.

When are people going to learn to follow there own moral compass. My heart and mind tells me that if 2 human beings love eachother and are commited to eachother, then they should have every right to be married. No book marred by the hand of man will ever convince me that I should have rights that another human being should not. One day this injustice will be buried and dead just as slavery is in this country which incidentily was supported and upheld by religion and it's institutions ("the cursed tribe of ham", "Slaves obey your masters" read your bibles). I thank God that the human heart prevailed and people had enough real morality and not book learned morality to fight it and overturn it like devil in religious clothing that it was.

This is one of the last upheld injustices in this country and it is a stain on democracy and the constitution. It is a stain on everything this country was created to be. We all need to be fighting for gay rights. If they don't have the same rights as all of us, what makes any of our rights secure. What other group will be singled out as inferior and undeserving. If it can happen to one of us, it can happen to all of us. We all live in this country. This is not two Americas, one for those whose lifestyle you don't agree with and one for you and your clique. This is one nation, it should have one set of laws to govern all of it's citizens.

Other words that have had their meanings changed and the groups I blame it on:

Groovy. Full of grooves. Damn those hipsters.
Pot. A thing to put plants in. Damn those Deadheads.
Welfare. Good fortune, health and happiness. Damn the poor.
Drive. What you did to a car. Or cattle. Damn those Computer Scientists.
Hot. What it got in the summer. Damn those cuties in their bathing suits.
Christians. One who lived a life full of love and free from sin. Damn those, er, um, Christians.
