Freedom to Marry Day Protest Planned

Ah, the old, "but what if you had the same attitude about african americans, and look what happened to them". Sorry, you cant compare a race of people to a chosen lifestyle!!!

I'm sorry, what evidence do you have, scientific evidence please, not some biblical nonsense, that homosexuality is chosen? Not that it matters, since the choice issue is a red herring, as we've already discussed on this thread.

Furthermore, what if the sentiment was that the chosen lifestyle of christians should be banned? Would it be fair to put it to a vote? I say, "Heck yeah! BAN IT!" It's not natural to believe is talking burning bushes and entire oceans parting and the whole world flooding and a pair of every living creature being on ONE boat and mortal men walking on water. It's dowright sick, and a danger to other religions to boot. ;) :thumbsup2

Luckily there are only a few of you!!

This gleeful, smug attitude of being one of the mob will someday come back and bite you. Someday it will be YOU are are in the minority, seeking to protect your rights from the mob...see who comes running to your aid.

Why is it if you are against the gay lifestyle, its hate?
Because there is no such thing as a "gay lifestyle" that you are opposed to. You are opposed to people being born gay. That falls under the category of hate.
What are your thoughts on what the Mass Supreme Court did about gays getting married? Did they do the right thing or did they over step their authority?
They struck down a law that was unconstitutional - of course that is in their authority
Why cant there be a vote on it?
Because the MA Constitution prevents discrimination. Even if the will of the people is to discriminate, the Constitution trumps that. Now, people can change the Constitution - and some are trying - but the Constitution isn't something you want to change on a whim, so it takes time. Personally, I hope we never change the Constitution to embrace discrimination.

but if you are against them, you get clubbed with the hate label.
You are "against them" for being born. If you don't like the word hate, what would you use to describe it?

No, but many see it as selfish perversion of an adjective. Which is just as bad.

I actually just want to thank you for being on our side. ;)

I see what you're doing. You're doing the old "parody the crazies to show everyone how absolutely nuts they are." (shh, don't let anyone else know the secret)

I like you're strategy--putting forth the ridiculous claim that calling hateful names is the same as a group taking a word and giving it a new slang meaning :lmao: Good one! Next you should start comparing calling African-American people the N word to the use among African-Americans of the word "crib" to mean "house" :rotfl:

So thanks for the help! We'll be seeing you at the next PRIDE march, right? :thumbsup2

The Bible is the Word of God.

God and His Word are one. He's awesome enough to make sure His Word is done right.

You just totally ignore anything which is inconvenient!

Even Christian theologians have no problems in agreeing ther were many contemporary texts and subsequent writings which were considered for inclusion in a anthology of religious writings now known as the Bible,

And you talk about lots of laws given by god but I thought that God only gave 10 commandments the rest were told by the prophets I suppose they were all infalible and had no other motives.

Sorry Gang the break was I had to get hme from work, go shopping and cook dinner for the kids and me

Wow ... "a certificates of inequality" that is a powerfull statment.
Makes you proud :sad2:

Why should iy be it wasn't in Christ's time on earth?

Well, it used to be Saturday, but that interfered with god's weekly bowling league so he whispered in Paul's ear and got it changed to Sunday instead.

One of the perks of being the almighty. ;)

Oh I do sweetie. It would just take too long and your question is not worht my time.

Edited to add: I don't typically respond to folks who have been banned from the DIS under one name only to appear under another, hence my lack of desire to answer you. You were banned for a reason.

Inquiring minds want to know. Who was EPCOTopian previously?:listen:

No, but many see it as selfish perversion of an adjective. Which is just as bad.
Many? Really? I'm just stunned to learn this. I never knew there was anyone - much less "many" who are upset about the word "gay" being used describe homosexuals.

You learn something new every day.

Funny you ONLY mention AZ....um, werent there quite a few states that went the other way???

I was referring to another poster's stating that Arizona passed a gay marriage ban, silly. Re-read the post.

FYI to iloveboardwalk--I did a search, and Proposition 107 did fail last November.

Voters rejected Proposition 107 in November, making Arizona the first state in the nation to reject a gay marriage ban at the ballot box.

I finally get it! If I accept him into my life I can be as hateful and narrow-minded as I want! It would not matter how I treated people because all of my sins would be forgiven.

Alright! As for me, I can continue to be an atheist. If there is a god i'll be forgiven.

I'm glad you're starting to understand why there is this visceral reaction to religion, specifically when someone describes themself as a "Christian". The Joe-kind "Christians" have done more to dirty up Christianity than a non-believer like myself could ever do.

Whenever someone tells me, "but real Christians aren't like that", my standard answer is "I respectfully suggest you tell them that and not me".

How many people went from church to a KKK meeting? How much damage has the fabulous Rev. Ted Haggard done or Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson or Oral Roberts or Jimmy Swaggert or Jim Baker or the child-molesting priests and the ones who covered up for them ............. this is certainly a long list and this is just getting started.

What I have never understood is how real Christians let the nutjobs dirty up the word Christian. Maybe these last umpteenth pages of this thread has finally made enough people mad so they start to fight back against the religious right, their bigotry, and hijacking of Christianity.

I think the moderate Christian voice is like the moderate Muslim voice-we just aren't as interesting as the nut fringe. I know many good Priests who have spoken out against the child molesters, but I only see them in the Letters to the Editor-not on the Front page or on the evening news. A priest in my parish where I grew up was very vocal to the parish about Jerry Falwell and that whole crowd because he believed they were dangerous. The Pastor at the parish I'm in now often speaks about the danger of the Church becoming embroiled in politics because it is not our place.
We're out here, and I take much comfort from the other Christians on this thread that have repudiated the nut fringe posts.
