Freedom to Marry Day Protest Planned

Actually, I don't think we've been talking about different gods. This has been pretty much a Christian/Biblical discussion. The disagreement is about what God actually says & what, if anything it means to the OP.

:lmao:

Huh? I was the person who mentioned love, peace, kindness, generosity, humility, and reconcilation. You quoted me, and told me I was forgetting about judgement. Since I'm the person who wrote the post, I'm merely pointing out I didn't forget anything. Seems like you might be the one who needs to read carefully, not me. :confused3

Yes, you said Jesus taught about those things. I said He also taught about Judgement. You accused me of saying I could judge. I never said that.

Now, are you saying Jesus never taught about judgement?

Whenever I read threads where people aretrying to convince others that *theirs* is the ONE AND ONLY God, it really makes me think of two children:

Child 1: Mine is better than yours.
Child 2: Oh yeah, well mine says yours is false.
Child 1: No way! If you do not believe in mine, you will go to hell!
Child 2: No sir! Mine is the one true God and I am telling mom that you are not respecting MY God! MOM!

LMAO!:lmao:

Your exact words were that I forgot about judgement. Not that Jesus also taught about judgement.

Accused you? What are you smoking?! I did not accuse you of anything. I said the God I believe in has taught me not to stand in judgement of others, it had nothing whatsoever to do with you.

Geesh. Talk about someone reading into things. You really need to read more carefully.

You:

Yeah, thats my God too. Not to mention the one who teaches love, peace, kindness, generosity, humility, and reconciliation.

What did you think I was saying? It appeared you thought I was saying I can stand in judgement. However, I meant that while He did teach us those things, He also Jesus taught that judgement is coming.

:confused3

You:

You forgot one...judgement.

I dunno, looks like you were telling me what I should think, or what I forgot to think about.

Yikes. Back off, please. I'm not a mind reader, I can only go with what you typed.

As far as judgement coming, my God will not punish someone because they loved someone of the same gender. He may punish someone who stands in judgement though.....

It makes me feel great to read things like this because it reinforces the fact that walking away from organized religion was a gooood decision. :thumbsup2

You're right. I should have been more clear on exactly what I meant. I thought you understood I was replying to your word "taught."

Now, why do you keep saying "my God?" Aren't you (like me) referring to the God of the Bible, the Christian God? We may disagree on what He says about homosexuality, but it's the same God. Or are you a different religion from Christian?

Speaking of the Bible....

Leviticus 25
44 " 'Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.'

Does this mean God wants me to buy slaves from Canada and Mexico? :rolleyes1

No it mean's that we are suppose to buy slaves from the US and Iceland. Afterall, Canada is God's country. ;)

Knee-jerk reaction. Go back & read again. My post was in reply to another speaking of the teachings of Jesus. The poster cited love, peace, kindness, generosity, humility, and reconciliation. I then said, Jesus also taught about judgement. Please read carefully before responding to something I did not say.

Jesus taught about GOD's judgement, read the parable of the Sheep and Goats again. Jesus says that what we have done to the least of the brethren we have done unto HIM and we will be judged by GOD on those actions. I don't recall any place where Jesus teaches us to judge each other here on earth.

You know perfectly well what she means. Stop badgering.

I am going to step in here and ask that you all take a deep breath and maybe think before you type....make sure what you do type is exactly what you mean so there is no confusion here... discussion is healthy but without taking shots at each other.

If there continues to be argument, I see no alternative than that this thread be locked as arguing and personal attacks will not be tolerated...

Not the poster you quoted but I think that's what Jimmie meant, I don't think he ever meant to say/imply that Jesus said we should judge others. I think his point was Jesus also taught about Gods judgement in addition to love, compassion etc.. He can correct me if I'm wrong but that's how I read his posts.

Stepping back into the peanut gallery..............

Wow, I've really gotta start typing complete sentences.

My point was that while Jesus taught us about love, He also taught that God's judgement (not mine or any other individual's) is coming. We should be aware & live righteous lives.

Good point. I'll step away from this thread.

I should have taken your posting history into account before I responded and I aoplogize for that as well. You're not one that makes those kind of comments and I do know that.
