Free Dining Watch 2009 - Dates Released!! Update post 1

Free dining is the dining plan for free. The room and ticket price stays exactly the same. If you HAD a room discount you would lose it for the free dining but disney doesnt raise the price of anything to give you free dining

i have a question regarding the free dining-- for people who booked their package ahead of time and only added the code-- was it actually cheaper?

the reason I am asking- I have been looking at pricing for Sept and had a handle on what it would cost-- on paper---subtracted the dining cost for the week.

Anyways-- since free dining has now been announced --those prices I was seeing before are not even close to what the price I was looking at. there is a $600.00 difference in the totals-- Now free dining doesnt seem like its worth it to me.

Do the hotels raise their rates in order for the free dining to work?

No. There must be something else that is not the same.
Tax? Trip ins? different view or preferred vs. standard? Type of ticket?
Also, mid Aug -- end of Sept. is value season, Oct. kicks into the next level up, so that would affect prices.
Hope you get it figured out!

If you are looking at some of the prices people here are referencing please keep in mind that many people are only purchasing a one day base ticket per person, which is what is required to book the free dining promotion, which could also be a significant increase or decrease in the package price.

Also, if you are booking a package and you are not using AAA or a pin code or some other fantastic deal more than likely the cost of the room is at rack rate, then you factor in the season and the price also fluctuates. Hope this helped shed some light on the situation.

But, in short your answer is no. If you already had a package including hotel and tickets and you add the FD nothing should change in the pricing just you get DDP for free, provided you do not change hotels, dates, or ticket options.

We've never gone during free dining so I have a question. I know there are different codes you use for the basic dining and the deluxe dining and the wine and dine plans. With the free dining does that mean you get your choice of regular or deluxe and it doesn't cost any extra?

No. Only Reg. Dinig plan, or pay extra to upgrade.

Thanks for the answer. I would have thought that QSP would be considered a downgrade from the Reg plan instead of an upgrade. Do you have any idea how much the difference would be if we decided to upgrade?

The free dining deal gets you the "regular" free dining plan for each person in your party (1 TS, 1 CS, 1 snack per day).

If you want, you can upgrade to the Deluxe Dining Plan for just $32 per adult per night and $10 per child age 3-9 per night.

You can also add the "Wine & Dine" Plan to this package at full price.

Hmmm, do you know if you can combine that credit with the DVC discount on AP's?
We were able to use our 1-day tickets towards our DVC AP...the person we had even did a renewal for us, which saved even more (they are not supposed to do that though--I think--but I did not complain!)

Regular dining is free. Deluxe and wine options you just pay the differance

So I'm new to all this - first time visiting Disney in about 10 yrs! (And first time onsite! ) What are the chances that they'd extend that offer into early December? Any hope? Or even into November??

Last year they did have a free dining offer around this time only for Disney visa cardholders.

HLAuburn and mbanks21 thank you for your answer. That's what I thought but was confused when I saw the different codes.

Last September Disney Destinations sent out some emails that offered free dining pin codes for select dates in October, November and December, 9/28-10/11, 11/9-11/22 and 12/12-12/20 to be exact . These emails were random, not for the general public, and the codes were non-transferrable. About two weeks after that Disney Visa sent out a free dining code for their card holders for the same select dates in October, November and December. Those pin codes were not part of the regular Fall Dining promotion and there was no general public fd code offered for any of those dates.

So darn happy! I booked this morning at like 7:20 after receiving an email from Chase. We will be spending my 30th birthday in WDW!! Booked POFQ from August 19-26 with deluxe plan (which was discounted). YES YES YES! There are not enough smilies to show how happy I am! party:

We already have a Grand Gatherings ressie (and just paid off) for Sept 20th to 26th. I have noticed most are booking FD for POP, we are staying at Poly. I have to wait until Monday to try and snag FD. Does anyone think there will be a problem getting our GG FD for Poly?

There are three individual ressies under our GG for 9 people. When I paid off our trip on Tuesday, I asked the CM how I would go about getting all three individual ressies FD. He said the person that set up the GG (luckly my wife did:love:) could call in and add it to all three ressies at once. Is that true?

BTW, this is my first post but have been lurking for some time. Thanks to everyone for such a good Disney forum.
