For those of you who paint on clothes

Is there a particular brand of paint that works better than another?

Any tips (like what type of fabric or treatments to avoid or pre-treat with to make colors stick better or avoid xxx type of paint on xxx type of material) that I should be looking out for?

I've done some airbrushing on fabric years ago, but now I want to try to paint shirts for our upcoming trip, and other than using those squeezy paint bottles to write words and simple designs with the kids, I haven't actually tried any artwork.

I'm thinking about jean jackets and tee shirts....
