Flooded POTC boats

For those trying to reach out to Disney and taking the stance of a safety related concern rather than sharing you prefer not to get wet, you can try reaching out to Walt Disney World's SafeLine. SafeLine allows Cast Members to anonymously address safety issues with the company. In addition to emails sent to Guest Experience Services, the phone number for SafeLine is 407-WDW-SAFE.

Safeline is for cast members only. It is more about unsafe working conditions. Please don't call that number simply because you don't want to get wet.

Yes, I'm aware it is typically used for Cast Members hence the reasoning behind the verbiage used. I also stated that someone shouldn't call SafeLine if it is in regards to getting wet but only to report a safety related concern.

Unless you are a cast member you should not be calling that line.

SafeLine is interested in any safety related concern regardless of who it is coming from. I've never been asked for my perner when calling into SafeLine, nor is it stated on the back of the company ID that its use is reserved strictly for Cast Members. It simply states "To report safety concerns: Dial (407) WDW-SAFE / 407-939-7233."

I gave up riding POTC this trip....drives me crazy to see the mist fall with Jones be broken every single freaking day.

I was looking forward to this a lot too. Was anxious to see Jones back. It shouldn't take all week or more to fix this kind of effect.

I wish I read this thread about a week ago. I rode POTC last Friday and after the drop it was if someone had dumped a bucket of water on me!

I keep checking back into this thread hoping there will be a report that Disney has come up for a fix for this ride. So sad to see that still isn't the case and that it's still a soggy situation. Less than a month to go. Here's hoping something changes soon!:fish:pirate::sad:

I wouldn't mind so much if it was only about getting wet. I wouldn't like it but I could deal.

However listing boats and excessive water and slippery ramps seem more like safety issues than just some discomfort. Whatever number is used I hope that people continue to express their concerns. So far it appears that Disney isn't listening.

We just rode last weekend and thankfully didn't get wet but the ramp up to the gift shop was like trying to walk up a slip n' slide!

this is what concerns me. someone could really get hurt. I would think they would shut the ride back down and fix all these issues, if nothing else, to cover themselves. So far the ride has been stopping randomly and getting stuck on the track (there have been reports of cm's having folks rock back and forth to "unstick" the boat. This is crazy to me), listing to the side, taking on water, and drenching people.

It's the Disco-Yeti (albeit with the added bonus of potential physical discomfort or even injury) of the MK!

I have been on POC twice in the last 4 days. The first time there were no issues with water in the boat or splashing in.

Today just before 10 AM they were only loading on one side and stuffing people in. The boat listed to the right the whole ride and the water level was almost to the edge of the boat. My daughter who was on the right side weighs about 100 pounds, so she wasn't the problem. The boat got stuck briefly and made abnormal noises at every turn.

Not a fun trip. They'll be getting a message from me when I get home.
Whoa, that is a scary. I always assumed the water was only a few feet deep throughout the attraction so the boat being swamped or overturned wasn't a concern, other than the nasty water. It sounds like a distinct possibility now, though! :scared1:

Since it is a number on the back of your compamy ID that is for cast members only. As a CM you should be very careful what you post on the dis. Just because it doesn't say DO NOT SHARE it is still only on things CMs have access to (and maybe their spouses). There are numbers that guests can call to lodge a complaint with out tieing up a safety hotline given to CMs.

Stuck on POTC for 45 mins last night along with five or six other boats. They eventually turned the lights on and we were evacuated by CMs in waders through an exit in the set and a long walk outside through some backstage storage areas. We were all given a couple of FPs each, to use on any MK attraction excluding 7DMT, parades and fireworks.

I should emphasize that our incident was not scary in the sense that we were concerned about physical injury. The two concerns were about being stuck on the ride or enough water coming over the edge to get the seats uncomfortably wet. I really don't think one of those boats overturning is a real concern. It definitely took the fun out of the ride.

Compared to our flight landing in 30-40 MPH winds last night (after circling the airport for about 45 minutes waiting for a thunderstorm to clear the area), the experience on POC was nothing.

This is crazy to me that Disney is not fixing all the issues. What are they thinking?????

Wow that's not good but I think it would be cool to see backstage.

As a Cast Member whose ultimate goal being guest safety and guest enjoyment (as all should be), I don't see it as an issue sharing the number for SafeLine. Emails sent to Guest Experience Services clearly aren't helping so I suggested an alternative in hopes that it would at least make some members of the DIS Boards feel more comfortable about their feedback being heard with the chance of the proper Cast Members having the opportunity to explore the potential safety hazards mentioned in this thread and act upon it before either an unusual condition occurs or someone gets seriously injured. It's bad enough someone already lost a finger on this attraction and over at Disneyland Paris, a 5 year old boy got stuck underneath the boat behind him and nearly lost his life if it wasn't for his father jumping into the water to save him. Although guests may have been at fault for some of those and other situations, they still happened when (some) could have been avoided.

I'm very careful with the way my information gets shared on the DIS. From the moment I joined the community, I had that in mind. If sharing the number for SafeLine offends you, I can only imagine about my posts where I leaked sensitive confidential information during the MyMagic+ rollout. We were stuck once on IASW at Disneyland for about 45 minutes and were evacuated through a backstage area. It is not that cool, and nowhere near cool enough to compensate for the inconvenience.

If you want to see some backstage areas, I would recommend taking the Keys to the Kingdom tour. It is a lot more fun and you see a wide variety of backstage things.

Indeed!

As the calendar progresses and the Lake Buena Vista night time temperatures cool, unsuspecting guests will be in for an uncomfortable wet surprise that will last until they exit the park.

If it gets you that wet you would think they would do something! I dont know if I want to ride it now.

Has anyone who sent an e-mail to guest services received a response yet?

Is it just the front getting wet? I sat in like, the second to last row and was fine. Only thing that stunk was I got in the boat the wrong way and hit my shin so hard. It's still sore almost a week later! But that was own stupidity on that.
