I am a new dvc member and now that it is getting close to making reservations I am not so sure I have this all figured out. I have read so much good info on these boards from all of you, and you are so willing to help. I bought into BCV and wish to take a large group next June. My use year is Feb. I banked this years pts and will also use part of upcoming year pts. Right now there are 14 of us so two 2 bedrooms will work. I can imagine a few people could back out the closer next June gets dropping total to 11. I will get a final commitment by March. Here is where I am confused.

1. Book Two 2 beds now using 308pts (I think)
2. When Feb or March comes drop one 2 bed and add a studio due to if people have cancelled.

Will I loose those pts already booked, and how difficult is it to downgrade and get a studio because of demand and short timeframe. Should I just also book a studio at this time with the 2 beds and how painful is it to cancel later.

I thought I had it figured out but I am questioning my toughts. Thanks in advance for advice.

Making and cancelling reservations is easy. As long as you don't cancel within 30 days of your arrival date, your points will be returned to your account as if no reservation had been made.

If you have enough points, I would recommend reserving two 2-bedroom units and one studio. When you have confirmed everyone, you can cancel the unit no longer needed.

Would it be possible to request a lock-off for one of the 2 br units. This way, if you change a 2 br to either a studio, or a 1 br, you know it will be there. Now that I think about it, the glitch here may be that MS would have to cancel the 2 br before they book the studio. Someone on the wait list may wind up with your studio. I am not sure that would happen though, and it may be worth checking with MS.
Good Luck!
