We are headed to Disney in August from 4th-8th, first time I myself will be going and also my 5 year old son. My husband hasn't been since he was young . I Want plan this out as strategically as possibly regarding rides and how much time he will actually willingly participate. We are staying off of Disney at another resort and plan to visit MK and Hollywood. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, we'd like it to be fun for all of us!

57 days and counting

It will definitly be fun for all. Be prepared to rest as needed. I suggest trying to see Wishes at MK. IMO 2 days is not enough, there is just SO much to see.
I would start with these resources or maybe get ultimate guide to disney if you prefer book. http://www.easywdw.com/

Have you made any dining reservations? Character meals?
Make sure you make a not of any special characters he might want to meet(we dont do a lot of this but many ppl do) and check out the rides and look at some on you tube if you arent sure about them(my kids, 6 and 8, love any, the thrill rides included even at 4-5 years old.)
Try to arrive at park open so you can take advantage of cooler time of day, lower crowds.
