February 2021 W.I.S.H. - Being your own Fabulous Self

A website I was told about years ago for housecleaning/keeping flylady.com - great way to get in schedule & tackle clutter in small increments- I throw back to it from time to time.

21 day fix food portions & containers- you can just get these off Amazon & download a great free tracker app for your phone to monitor it daily without cost- this helps when I’m 100% on weight loss. (I’m currently on keeping life together mode 😆)

Kristinandrus is a good IG / YouTube- upbeat content + workout videos.

Danaemercer on IG too - body image & a peek into kids social media struggles - super important w teen girls.

I do false eyelashes from time to time

Lysol detergent for horrible kiddo accidents & dog blankets - it sanitizes! Lost my my mind over pandemic when I couldn’t get my dog smells out & it was nowhere to be found. We have a Dane so he comes w laundry too 🐾 too big to ignore.

Hmmm...I need to have a clearer mind before I respond...awesome topic though!

I thought I would share my vaccine experience. The location was a high school gymnasium 5 minutes from my school, so I stayed after and worked in my classroom then went to the appointment feeling a combination of terrified and joyful. The signage was good, and parking wasn't bad considering the hundreds of people there between volunteers and people being vaccinated. Social distancing was well-done with floor stickers and physical dividers. I was uncomfortable with the sheer number of people in one room, so I was double-masked and wore my face shield...the only person in the room wearing a face shield, but nobody made me feel silly wearing one. They took my temperature, then I presented my driver's license and school I.D. Having already registered in VAMS saved me a lot of time as I went from socially distanced station to station and waiting areas. Then came the moment I was walked across the gym to get the shot, and I started to cry...real tears of joy. I had to hold back the sobs. After answering yet another set of questions, she gave me the shot, and I was sent to another waiting area by the paramedics for 15 minutes. I instantly felt very warm then my heart beat fast, but it subsided. There I saw my colleagues...everyone excited. A resident college student who never wears her mask over her nose came to sit near me with her nose sticking out like a middle finger. I saw a close friend who is on FMLA, and left to sit with her and catch up. It did my heart well to see her. Then people started taking group photos by the backdrop...all snuggled up close cheek to cheek.:scared: Do these idiots think we have instant immunity?! I watched the 30 of them too close for comfort then left. About 10 minutes later, driving in traffic, my tongue started to feel tingly and my heart started again. I could breathe okay, but I felt weird, so I drove to an urgent care facility and sat in the parking lot until I felt better, just in case. When I got home, I was fine except for the awful headache and arm pain. I got very drowsy early, yet I had trouble falling asleep. This morning, all that is left is the headache and sore arm, but nothing that I can't handle. I'm told the second shot will be a doozy, so I may hang around the gym longer next time just to be sure that I don't have a reaction.

I'm so terribly grateful for my teachers' union, the CEA, fighting for teachers' rights or I wouldn't have gotten my vaccine as soon as I did. It's the first step to living a more normal life.
Glad it was good overall! I had brief moments of tense flutter w both. I waited 30 min after second. The waves after 2 came about 10-12 hrs after. I’d advise taking off next day. If you don’t need it wonderful! But if you do, you’ll be grateful. Chills, nausea, extreme aches... my glands were painfully swollen for 3 days. Slow cooker dinner was ready! I’d do it again but being ready is a good thing too!

Scale was up a pound this morning. Not really a surprise considering I didn't go for any walks this week, and only did yoga one time. And I had a bacon burger and fries for dinner with a peanut buster parfait for dessert a couple hours later! Got a text from DS1 that he needs addresses for the wedding guests. A good reminder that I need and can do better.

We had a lovely surprise yesterday. Grandparents kept the twins overnight!!! So wonderful. We did have to go bring them PJs and tooth brushes. But we had a nice visit with grandparents and our niece (their mom who was visiting). Apparently grandparents are considering moving mother-in law from her assisted living place 100 miles and a mountain range away to live with them. Which is funny because just a week ago DH said if he were retired and didn't have the twins he would consider that. The brothers had a long discussion about it while mom/grandma got the kids ready for bed. We'll see what happens.

We have a funeral late this morning. It's going to be live streamed so we will attend that. My girlfriend/neighbor (the widow) said she couldn't guarantee that the church would be empty enough for social distancing and was fine with us just watching. In the meantime I have laundry to do and a grocery list to make! One that includes lots and lots of veggies and healthy meals!!

My next one is on Good Friday so I will have the weekend. I will make sure that my sub plans are up to date. I assumed that I would need to take this Monday, but I am feeling better and better.

I got very drowsy early, yet I had trouble falling asleep.

I had this too. It was about 24 hrs before I was able to any amount of sleep. I got Maderna. I was shocked that after about 5 days and all side affects gone that the lymph node under my arm (the one with the shot) was swollen and bothered me some. Nothing that I had to take anything for or miss work or anything. Just annoying. I woke up with that on Monday. I have had that all week but seems to be getting better. Just a heads up as I was not expecting it 5ish days after the shot.

Things have not been great around here. It was a rough night. DH and I fought a bit. We were both just crappy but normally it is not both of us at the same time. On top of that My nephew is back in juvie. He was out of rehab for a day this past week to get tested for autism (he does have it). My sister left him for about an hour with my idiotic brother in law. He gave my nephew his phone so he contacted his drug dealer and got drugs. So now in juvie and most likely will not be going to back to that rehab place. My sister really needs to not let him be around the kids. He can't be trusted and he is making things worse.

On top of this I got news yesterday that my aunt has an aggressive form of breast cancer that has spread through her body. They are being positive but it does not look good. This is my step dad's sister in law. They are the most caring giving people I know. It just really sucks.

So today is a day for me. I did get my work out in and since then I have been watching movies and being lazy. I have watched 3 Musketeers, Tom and Huck and now Pollyanna. I love Disney+. It has made it easy to watch the older movies I loved growing up.

I got Moderna too. I heard that women are mistaking these swollen lymph nodes for breast cancer. Thanks for the heads-up.

I was trying to remember the name of the website when you first posted the question this morning. Yes! I used to follow flylady.com when the kids were younger! Really helped me to manage my time by looking at cleaning in smaller chunks!

 Hope taking the break with Disney+ has helped restore some joy. Pollyanna was one of my favorites when I was younger! Haven’t watched it since childhood. I’ll have to keep that in mind next time I’m searching for a movie ;)

My pregnant sister is scheduled to be induced on Friday. Our district was working today to prioritize all the people who signed up for the J&J vaccine. Special Education, English Language Learning, IU preschool/Headstart and Elementary Teachers are first priority. But I believe that might include anyone who works with those students including bus drivers, cafeteria workers, etc. and our district was only allocated 186 vaccines. They are supposedly starting Wednesday. I was REALLY hopping to get it before my niece was born. But even if I get it Friday, I think it’s 2 weeks until it takes full effect :(

I hope you get your vaccine ASAP. Sorry it isn't as soon as you would like.

It’s just so practical & helpful!

Honestly rough day here. Too many moods & people. I got out with my 2nd daughter to escape & that was welcome. We grabbed items for our movie night - which will now be a movie breakfast tmrw instead. My oldest is still going w her debate so... we will hold off. Excited she’s still in the game. 🤞🤞 I’d love an excellent placing for her.

I tried that years ago, too, but found the volume of e-mails overwhelming.

I've just accepted that I'm a mediocre housekeeper. 😆

Obviously one of mine too!

 @piglet1979 - that's a lot to deal with at once. I'm impressed that you still found the discipline for your workout, and I agree with you about Disney+. Sometimes you've just got to go back to a place of comfort!

Love the topic! My best tip is to read these two books:

1) View attachment 560794 link

2) View attachment 560795 link

(I have my DS reading The Power of Habit right now, and I never realized how much alike they are until this minute - from the color of the covers to the similarities in the titles.)

Anyway, if you don't have time to read them right now, the nutshell take-aways are:

1) Don't obsess over finding the best choice. Find one that makes you happy, and then put all second-guessing out of your mind. (This applies to tiny things, like sandwich orders, and huge ones, like colleges.)

here's a quicker article and the vocab in a graphic:

2) Set up your routines to link things you need to do with things you want to do. - (In my case, it's exercise and dishes every evening to a favorite series on my tablet.)

If you're a video person, here's the quick take-aways from this book:

And a graphic example:

Love this! My husband and I have finally got to the place of “good enough “ and I only wish it hadn’t been til we were in our 60s that we got there!

@piglet1979, you have a lot going on right now-and your mother! Hope things get better soon.

@MickeyMom76, sending prayers for your friends and family. And hoping you get your vaccine very soon. Holding a new baby is just the most wonderful thing!

@Summer2018, hope your side effects are mild and over soon!

Sending a virtual hug to everyone-it’s not surprising we’re a little wobbly after such a crazy, stressful year.:grouphug:

What does self care look like for you today?

Right now, walking in the backyard with the cat. It’s cold, but the sun is cheerfully bright and there are birds singing.

Later, I’ll probably do some organizing. (I know that sounds more like a chore than relaxing to most people. But there’s just something calming about turning chaos into order.)

And then maybe put on a movie?
