Expedition Everest Challenge May 5 @ 9:30 2012

oooohhh! Make sure to rest it and let it heal. It sound very painful :( and the race is coming so soon. Better to have it healthy and lose a wee bit of time on your run than to have to keep running on an injured leg.

Hopt it heals up REAL fast for you!!!

In regards to DIS on an iphone - I can access websites on my ipod touch and I find it EXTREMELY slow and not worth the bother on there as well.

Are you taking a laptop that you could use?? That's what we use on trips.

Can anyone tell me how to get on the Dis Boards on the iphone? Is there an app for that? I would like to be able to access our thread while I am there.

Lara

I just go to it like a normal webpage on my iphone or ipad through Safari and don't have any problems at all with slowness or anything.

Just wanted to note, in case you wanted to save a few bucks and have one less item to worry about...

You can hydrate before a 5k and get through it just fine. In the hour before, just slowly sip from a water bottle. I usually get through about 12oz. You'll also have water available there, before, during and after the race too. No need to try and do obstacles with your water bottles on your waist!

Oh, and if you want even less to carry, get the running shorts or capris that have the zipper pouch on the back, right inside the waistband. It's just enough room for a key and a card or two. :)

I have a Spi belt. Don't run a race without it anymore! Comes with a couple of things to hold you race bib on as well. No more poking holes in shirts. Speaking of race bibs, the KansasKeteers (coed) are 1471!

How do you attach the race bib to your shirt if you don't have a belt? Are there fasteners? My first race...things I've never thought of. :confused3

The RunDisney events I've done so far include 4 safety pins in a little baggie with your bib and goodie bag. The bibs have 4 holes in the corners to use in securing the bib with the safety pins if you don't have a belt or other thing to use to secure the bib to you. :)

As some of you saw on our FB group, I broke my foot yesterday morning during my daily run. :(

I was running with my dad and we moved to the side of the sidewalk to let some walkers pass. Well, I got too close to the edge of the sidewalk and my foot just rolled off. Thankfully my dad was there because I blacked out right after it happened! :scared:

After a trip to the ER yesterday they determined I broke my foot. They told me that even if it was just sprained that I wouldn't be able to run for at least a month. :(

I'm SO upset. My mom is going to take my place in our team so I will still be able to be at EE. She is so sweet and even offered to give me her shirt and medal.

So, long story short: I'll be there to cheer you all on! Wave if you see a tall blonde girl in a leg cast!

Oh no! So sorry! Glad you still get to be there though and that your Mom is doing that for you.

Sorry to hear about your injury, MrsDuck!! :( Glad you're able to be down there to cheer everyone on, though.

I'm so sorry that you aren't going to be able to run after all your training! That's very sweet that your mom will be able to take your place. I'll be looking for you cheering us on! Hugs and pixie dust for a quick recovery.

Mrs Duck, I'm so sorry to hear about your foot! I was due to run the EEC last year, but had to have surgery on my torn meniscus instead. :headache: So I understand your frustration! You will recover, and you will do this in the future! Meanwhile, take it easy and follow the doctors orders. Easier said than done, I am well aware. ;)

Team TollFREE will be looking for you, Mrs. Duck! :wave2:

I hope your foot heals quickly.

I am so sorry to hear this! How horrible!!

Your mom is sweet to offer you the shirt an medal, you definitely deserve it after all of your hard work!

We'll be looking for you at the finish line! And if you can make it, come to one of the meetups!

Brief update:

I think I am coming down with a mild cold. I'm sure it's because I over extended myself last week and didn't really get much rest. I got my second short run in on Friday, but didn't do as well as I would have liked. My long run is supposed to be today. I think I will stay inside on the treadmill and just go for as long as I can. Hopefully, I'll be all better within the next 13 days! Until then, I'll be dosing myself with vitamin c and zinc!!

The good news is that I finally found a sports bra!! I had to drop off a draw to a furniture store about 30 miles from my house yesterday for stain matching, and on my way back I passed a PGA Superstore and an Outlet Mall.

I was about to give up at the PGA store, when I found several sports bras on a clearance rack. I ended up getting a Nike Compression bra for about $20. It's a bit snug, but it fits! I'm glad I found something there, because I didn't find anything at the outlet mall.

Okay, well I'm only 6.5 minutes into my hour long transcription. This is going to take me all day. My plan is to take a short internet break after every 5 minutes (which takes me about 20-30 minutes to transcribe). But DH has gone out of town for work this week, so my only distractions are the KigerKats, and it's naptime for them...pretty much all the time.

KigerKat - I hope your cold clears up quickly! I'm still on the hunt for a sports bra that fits like I'd like it to - grrrrr; so frustrating.

I've had a sore hamstring for a week or so; kept hoping I could work it out but yesterday I overdid it. :( No more training for me for at least a few days.

Yikes! I feel so unprepared for this event. Work has been crazy, so I haven't been running as much. Was hoping to run in 30 minutes and I'm still at about a 38 minute run. Argh!!!

I'm now fearful of being swept up as being too slow!
