Oops yesterday afternoon, and this morning were both busy, I forgot to post the QOTD.

So today's QOTD is-

Do you look for Hidden Mickeys? If so, what sort of places, or in what sort of things have you seen them in?

No i do not look for them, however sometimes they are right there.

During the evenings while you are trying to go to bed what sort of sounds do you hear? Ex. any animals, traffic, .....?

The neighbors when they come home (they have the stupid radio blasting )

Not many hidden Mickeys here, but if there were, my daughter is usually the one who finds them. :goodvibes

At night, I am able to hear the darn croqui frogs which we are trying to elimanate, bugs... it is pretty quiet here, unless like Heidi we hear the stupid inconsiderate people play their loud music, which I dislike.

I do look for hidden Mickeys, but rarely find them where I live. Am more apt to see VW Bugs than any other kind of vehicle here. As for what I hear at night, airplanes mostly. It's fun when the "Big Heavies", the large cargo planes take off, as no matter what time of day if they hit the right resonances they can rattle our windows and make it feel as if they are doing a touch and go on our roof. Can watch the planes take off from our front window. Spatially speaking we are less than a mile from one of the major runways at the Vancouver International Airport. On Sea Island there's a Mcdonalds across from one of the runways, so you can have lunch and watch the planes take off. Will be on one at the end of Sept again to DL for a surprise trip YAHOO!

I see them occasionally maybe in a shadow or a plant. Sometimes in the store.

The tv, birds, crickets, a vehicle driving down the street, a siren, the wind, our neighbors car door, stuff like that.

Oops! I made a big boo boo. Patsy asked me to do the QOTD for today and tomorrow and I totally forgot today.

So, today's question is:

What was the name of your very first pet? Tell us about it.

And tomorrow's (Monday) question is:

How many state's have you been to? Not driven through but actually spent some time in sight seeing?

Thank you Kirby.

My very first pet was a black german sheperd whose name was Bear. He was a twin, and my sister had his brother named King. They were both very loyal dogs. At the end, they both had leg problems.

States, just three-different islands in Hawaii, Las Vegas, and California.

I've been to Washington, Oregon, California in Feb, and on our Feb/09 drove the Cali coast from Santa Monica to Crescent City. Hope to do Florida sometime in 2014/2015 depending on when I can save up the money for a trip to WDW. And another unexpected trip to DL the end of Sept for a quick 4 day stay. I've also been to Reno, and across the USA on a family trip to WDW when I was a kid.
Our first dog was a Dash hound named Huff, and was a hussy when in heat. We lived on a busy road, and despite having a fully fenced yard, had a lot of dogs killed trying to cross it.

My very first pet was a dog named Frisky. She was just a mutt but I loved her very much. My grandmother was a dog show judge and I remember taking her out to the backyard and having her judge Frisky. I must have been about 8 or 9 years old. She was very diplomatic about it and told me that she was a fine specimen of a Heinz 57. She explained to me that a Heinz 57 was a mix of different dogs. I was so proud of that.

I've been in a number of different states and hope to add to my list over the coming years. I've stayed in:

New Mexico
Oklahoma
Colorado
Nebraska
Missouri
Arkansas
Illinois
Tennessee
West Virginia
Virginia
Maryland
Delaware
Florida
Alabama
Lousiana
Mississippi
Washington

I've driven through Kansas and Kentucky but never actually stayed in those states but I have done some sight seeing in Kentucky.

Family pet would have been a tortoiseshell tabby named Buttons. A cousin was out driving one day and as he was passing a farm he saw a kitten along the road, so he stopped picked it up and brought it to my mom.

When John and i were married we got a black lab/Irish setter mix from a family and her name was Sadie, she preferred woman over men and was definitely my dog.

States that i have spent time in (the 1st 4 i also lived in). My family just never traveled and John and i only go to Florida.

Florida
Georgia
California
Pennsylvania
New York
New Jersey

My daddy was a truck driver but i only went on the truck once, Pa. to Cali. (most boring time ever)

I have to add that I've been to New York. I can't believe that I forgot that! :rotfl:

I do not know how to dance, but sure wish i did. I remember at my wedding and uncle pulled me to the floor and danced with me, and it was great. (since i had no clue what to do, letting him lead was easy)

I love to dance! I used to be really good at it but the older I get the less moves I can make. :rotfl: I took folk and social dance in college. And belly dancing one year with my cousin. It was fun! I'd love to take ballroom dance lessons. Joe and I took country and western dance lessons years ago. It was a blast! He not a great dancer but he tries. We don't dance much anymore, mainly just at wedding receptions. Both of my kids are dancers. They come by it naturally. I have taught them a thing or two. I taught James how to box step, sort of like the fox trot. And Carol and I used to dance together when the ballroom scene in Beauty and the Beast came on. To this day she loves to spin.

I dance mostly in my head these days.

Sorry i'm late, was making my spaghetti sauce.

So today's QOTD is, do you make a lot of homemade food or do you purchase it in the store(s)?

The only homemade that i make is soups and spaghetti sauce, the rest i purchase at the store.

Sometimes I make my own spaghetti sauce, depends on how I feel. The only pre-packaged stuff I buy is like mac and cheese (though I'd love an easy recipe to make it from scratch), cereal, bread, cheese, chips, cookies, cake mix/icing, cornbread and stuffing (though I plan on making this from scratch from now on). I think that's it. There is a packaged cheese potato soup that I buy occasionally because it's sooooo good.

Mostly homemade, but I do buy store bought items as well. It really depends on what I am making.

Susan, my mac n cheese recipe.

1lb. elbow noodles
2 packages sharp cheese (sliced)
diced ham

Cook noodles till al dente, put half in a casserole dish top with slices of cheese and some of the ham.

Put rest of noodles on top, more cheese slices and ham.

If you have any cheese left stick along the sides of the dish, add a bit of milk.

Cook for 1/2 hour, stir the noodles, continue cooking until hot and bubbly.

* I use Cabot seriously sharp cheese. This feeds John and i with leftovers.
