I used to buy cards a lot, mostly from a card company (Current). Now I just wish most happy birthday on facebook and the ones not on there i wish them in person, or by phone.

It is interesting to read all of your answers to the greeting card post. I try to make my own cards usually for gifts, but sometimes purchase them or add on gift tags instead.

Today is Cinco De Mayo, and Boys Day. What sort of holidays do you, and your family celebrate other than the basic ones that are usually celebrated like Christmas, Thanksgiving....?

How many different RAKs-(Random of Kindness) did you do this week, and what were they? Ex. Opening the door for the person following you into a store. Putting an extra coupon onto a product so that someone else is able to get the savings?

What are some RAKs that you can think of that you or others are able to do?

Opening doors, letting people into line in traffic, letting someone else go first at at door, stuff like that.

Visited my DH's elderly Aunt, and took her shopping (she lives a 30 min drive from us, and was able to squeeze it in around the time that the kids were at school.). I usually will leave the quarter in the carts when I go shopping as well.

That was very nice of you.

Two days ago, I cooked a big pot of sukiyaki, and brought some to our family friend, my uncle, and also to my daughter's teacher.

We are having yet another stormy weird weather afternoon with winds, heavy showers, and thunder and lightening. Just hope our power does not go off, and that everyone is safe.

Todays QOTD is-
When your power goes off, what do you/and your family do to entertain yourself or to use up your time before the power comes back on?

Do you have alot of food, and such that would go bad if the power was off for lets say 5 hours?

Our house is total electric but we do have gas (propane) connected to our fireplace.

During the summer, depending on how hot it is, I would just piddle around doing stuff that didn't need electricity or I would just read. We have lots of windows. If it gets too hot in the house, I might head to the store just or to someone else's house that had electricity. At night, we would light candles or just go to bed early.

During the winter, that's another story. During the day, if it's not too cold, I'd bundle up and just do what I listed above for the summer.

We have plenty of food to last us a couple of days. We could always use the grill outside to cook.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Todays QOTD is-
What is your most memorable "mothers" like memory you had with your child or mother this year?
:flower3:

That's a really hard question. My mom doesn't get out much anymore. I'm finding that our roles are reversing.

I don't see Carol all that much and James even less. Each time I am with them is a memory right now.

I was given crafts the kids made in school. I gave my MIL on Monday a large box of Whitman Sampler that she loves but I can't find up here, but picked her up a box when I was stateside in Feb. That gift was a comb of Christmas (I couldn't find it here at Christmas, despite a great hunt for it) and a Mother's day gift. I got my mom the same box of chocolates but a little smaller as a treat. My mom gave me a plant that the kids promptly trashed before I had a chance to plant it in the front of my house today:furious:. It's 1/2 dead thanks to them, but am hoping that I can revive it. Safe to say that they are in big trouble over it.

My most memorable will be one that happened this morning. My daughter had brought me breakfast in bed :goodvibes.
