Shortly after our first purchase, we asked for and received a new Guide. We definitely were not feeling the magic with our first Guide, and when some inconsistencies became apparent between reality and what she had told us during her pitch, we knew we would not be happy relying on her for anything at all! When I called and asked for a new Guide, I asked to speak with a manager in Member Satisfaction and I explained to her exactly what upset me with our first Guide. I was such a Disney fanatic and a bit naive back then... believing that if someone was "guiding" me through the magic, it should feel magical... and this is exactly what I said to the manager. She then told me that she had the perfect Guide for me, and she was right.
Our new Guide is fabulous! She sends us personal notes from time to time, and has called occasionally... to wish us Happy New Year, for instance. She's not pushy, but does keep us informed about new offerings. Most recently, she sent me a surprise package of
DVC pins... out of the blue! It was perfect timing, because the package arrived on the same day we had to cancel our MLK trip due to weather problems. It was like a little package of Disney magic to cheer me up! I know lots of folks here say your Guide is just a salesperson there to make money, and for many this is true. However, there are some Guides out there who are honestly as enthusiastic about Disney as we are, who are full of knowledge and willing to share it, who are happy to help you even if it's not to make a sale, and who treat you more like a friend than a customer. If you're lucky, you'll get assigned to a Guide like that. We're among the fortunate who has one!
