Have a question about the laundry/washing machines. Anyone know if they are front loaders or top loaders? Just wondering if I should take HE soap?

I think I have read, and have posted that the machines are front loaders and HE detergent should be used and one of our posters here was told that is why the washers break a lot- wrong detergent.

I have not done laundry while at the resort, so I am only relying on what others have reported.

Here is the info from Page 1:

Laundry Information :laundy:

Self-service laundry rooms are located near the BC quiet pool (near room 1532) and near the YC quiet pool. Another small laundry room may be found on the first floor of the YC, near the side exit (wedding gazebo side).

Washers are front loaders. According to repairmen working on disabled washers, HE (High Efficiency) detergent should be used in the machines. Regular laundry detergent is available for purchase in the laundry room ($1) or at the Beach Club Marketplace ($2). Don't forget to pack a few dryer sheets.

Both washers and dryers cost $2.00. Washers run for about 30 minutes. The sign in the laundry room says the dryers run for 20. Users have reported the dryers run for up to 30 minutes on regular and permanent press cycles.

popcorn:: hi all! Sitting here at our Seattle hotel waiting till its time to go to airport :hyper:

We will be only carrying carry on bags and not checking any luggage. My only concern is how will I get my sunscreen there. I know that I can probably buy it at the Marketplace but think that it will probably be expensive there.

Option # 1:
Get it at the Marketplace.
Probably limited selection and high cost.

Option # 2:
Get it at the airport gift shop.
Probably limited selection and high cost.

Option # 3:
Stop at a Walgreen's on the way to the hotel, since you are renting a car.
It would delay your arrival at the hotel by a few minutes, but there would be a greater selection and presumably lower cost.
If you are picky about which sunscreen you use, this is your best bet.

Option # 4:
Do a new post asking, "Anybody leaving Yacht Club or Beach Club or Beach Club Villas on [your arrival date or the day before your arrival date]?"
I bet people have partially used bottles of sunscreen that they are going to throw out rather than take home on the plane. Somebody could put it in a bag and leave it for you at Bell Services. Have them PM you so that you can give them your name, and specify Yacht Club or Beach Club so they take it to the right Bell Services.
This would be a new twist on the old Fridge Swap/Xmas Tree Swap/Pool Noodle Swap.

My husband has decided he would rather use a car service to get us to the YC next week. Do I need to make magical express aware of the change? Also, does anyone have a recommendation for which company to use? TIA

Only a week? I think it will take longer for couchy to heal so his punishment should last longer. I know, a week in small world and a week in the Tiki room and them back to small world. Maybe do this for a couple of months and see if he texts while driving again.

I have used Tiffany Towncar for about 6 round trips. Three things to keep in mind: (1) Go to their website to get a coupon. (2) The driver who picks you up at the airport may not be the driver who picks you up at the hotel to take you back to the airport. Don't let driver # 1 get away with adding the tip for both trips to the credit card charge. I generally take the total round trip charge, divide by two, and tip each driver based on half the total cost. (3) They will stop at a grocery store and wait for you to shop, at no extra charge. If you don't need groceries you can request that they stop at Walgreens instead, so you can pick up sunscreen, water, snacks, etc.

Thank you so much for all of the laundry info! Would rather not do any at all, but 5 people and 14 days is bound to lead me to the laundry room!!

WHAAAAT? How is that even possible? Like you would THROW yourself in front of a moving car? AYE, AYE, AYE! People these days never cease to amaze me.

Especially since he ran into the back of me:confused3

I hope it goes to trial because then I could recommend this at sentencing

They have gallons of Zephyrhill for sure... I live off of water so I bought a few gallons when there in July!

I have also used Tiffany Towncar and have been happy with their service

Hi. I used the laundry facility by the quiet pool last week, Thursday I think. There were "out of order" or "broken" signs on 2 out of 4 washers and 2 or 3 of 8 dryers. At 11pm/midnight-ish had to wait for the person already there to finish so I can throw in my loads. She first tried using another washer that turned out to be not working properly & was able to be refunded her $2, but only after the wash was complete. Waste of time if you ask me. The washers that were operable were the 2 closest to the entrance of the laundry room- one on left, one on right. The two rear ones weren't working. One dryer on each side was out & I think another, but not a huge deal compared to the washers. The change machine & soap dispenser were working ok as far as I know but didn't use them- I go already prepared with quarters, detergent pods & fabric softener sheets. Good luck!!

Sounds to me like they haven't fixed anything since I was there July 18-24th. There is another laundry room at the very end of the hall that goes by that quiet pool. However, at the time we were there both washers were working, but only one dryer...and you can't buy detergent in the smaller laundry room.

Just an FYI ,
As of last week, the laundry room was still in sad shape. 2 working washers, and I think about 4 dryers. The rest were still broken. I have never seen people take other peoples clothes out of machines faster than I did last week. There were people actually staring at the machines waiting for "their turn", lol. Its pretty sad really. The whole laundry room if it was in perfect working shape is VERY undersized for how large these resorts are. Once you get a few broken washers and dryers...........people get downright nasty, lol.
We went over to CBR for a visit last week and took a look at the laundry rooms just for kicks. What a difference. There was at least 8 washers and more dryers than that .........IN EACH BUILDING VILLAGE !
Come on BC ...... lets get a real laundry room ! Its bad enough to have to do laundry on vacation .......its unbearable when it takes you half a day because the laundry room is undersized, and everything is broken !

Syndrome

I have to share a story that only you guys will "get".....

Last wk my husband texted me that he got a .30 cent/hr raise at work which is awesome. :dance3:So of course I had to calculate it for the the year. :teacher: It came out to $694/yr extra, so when he got home from work I told him it would cover an AP. he said "does everything in your mind revolve around disney?," and of of course I told him "yes".... :rotfl2: So come AP renewal time I'll be set... Lol :lmao:

We use Happy Limo each trip and love it. They will stop at a store on the way if you want as well. Info is all on their website.
