Direct Add On Now 25 pt Min on all Resorts!

I was told yes, but it would count as your one and only transfer for the UY. I ended up just using my VGF points in my June UY to keep it simple.
Interesting. I wonder why it counts as a transfer. Does redeeming for cruises and world collection options count as a transfer if you use points from 2 use years as well?

I still would think they may let you buy 1 full pass with points from 1 membership and another full pass with points from the other membership instead of using partial points from both.

Did you get any intel about that?

I only wanted one pass so I decided to just use my June UY.

I think anytime you want to use points from different memberships, even for Disney collection, it requires a transfer and they are now being strict with the once per UY.

But I don’t think there would be any problem using points from different memberships for two different passes.

This is sad, and works against both the owner and Disney.

Well, when they relaxed the rules to allow owners to transfer more than once it got taken advantage of by those owning ton of points and moving points for rentals or the strip and flip.

Now, it’s harder to do that and with the notion that reservations with transferred points can be denied or canceled it just is one more consistent way to apply the rules.

Sure, some who want to combine get bit by it, but the rule was always one transfer only..they are just now enforcing what is written.

Yeah I am fine with the one transfer per year rule, even if it does restrict me a bit with 2 use years. And if it cuts down on the commercial renters stripping and flipping, then I am all for it.

But I guess I don't understand why anything other than a normal transfer is classified as a "transfer." There is nothing about making a cruise reservation, world collection reservation, or buying an annual pass that would really require transferring points. The points are converted instantly, can't be refunded or used for DVC reservations any more, etc. So I really hope they will start considering these things as not being a transfer as there is not really a way to abuse it like the commercial renters were doing with the strip and flip. This will help incentivize members to use their extra points with Disney themselves after all, instead of renting them out.

ETA: It would also help members like myself who are considering adding some direct points in our second use year. With no downside that I can think of. I will mention this to a guide whenever I talk to one so they can clarify. Because it would actually incentivize me towards resale VGC instead of direct VDH/VGC for my second use year if everything that isn't really a transfer is classified as a transfer.

This is what I was referring to - you should be able to make any combo possible to book a disney cruise - including multiple people’s DVC or the same for ABD

It would seem like it would work, but that is what I was told....however, I have never tried to do it so maybe the CM didn't have the correct information!

I just know for the AP, you have to transfer in order for them to process, and then volunteered the other info! Could it have to do with the fact that the points, if canceled, come back as reservation points?

Just an update on me. Still haven't talked DH into agreeing that the 25pts is a good idea to buy.

You may remember he dropped the ball on something and I thought that was my in... well he picked up the ball rather spectacularly and made things even better than what he originally messed up.

My next plan is to talk about it again while laying in bed in the Grand Villa at Aulani the end of the month.

I completely understand the problem. But the solution isn't helping much. It would be so, so much better for the DVD to simply have some hard and fast rule: X number of rentals a year OR X days of rentals a year or X% of yearly points can be rented out each year or X% of points can be rented out with a rolling five or seven year average (this accounts for medical situations that might wipe out a year or two of trips). But the current solution is just a mess. No one knows what is allowed, what is not allowed. I'm guessing that 95%+ of all owners want to play by the rules, but no one knows what they are. And in an effort to cut down on commercial renting through endless vague statements (I'm guessing commercial renters are 3-5% of owners, who hold likely 20-25% of all points), the result is that it's creating another layer or restrictions for the 95%+ of owners who generally want to use their points as intended. Again, removing commercial renting is a good thing--but what we have now is a set of unknowable rules that are impossible to enforce and are creating anxiety and chaos for the people who want to abide by them, but have no clarity as to what they actually are.

If it helps your case, I believe the minimums of 25 direct at all active resorts are only guaranteed through the end of Sept. Or that's what my guide said. These minimums very well might continue into 2050 for all I know--only there is no guaranty of that. That may help you nudge things forward a little.

It does help. And also makes me also want it even more.

Yes, this is exactly why we abandoned our plan to add another 75-150 points at BCV. I take lots of short trips and am already flirting with 20 reservations a year (with one rental ever).

Just to be sure I have the right info... there are NO discounts such as D23, etc for just buying 25-30 direct points? Just want to see if I can tip the scale on making a little add on purchase.

There are no discounts and it has to be a cash sale. There is really only one reason to do this which is if you just need less than 50 points to make your usual vacation. Otherwise you are just paying lots of closing costs.
