My husband has decided he would rather use a car service to get us to the YC next week. Do I need to make magical express aware of the change? Also, does anyone have a recommendation for which company to use? TIA

We have used ****** Transportation 3 times round trip with good experiences each time. They also have a grocery stop if needed.

Just put in my room requests. Hopefully, I'll get them all. I even added my birthday to the celebrations in hopes of getting a little pixie dust. ;)

1 more week!

Had a Sunken Treasure at 'Ohana this evening

Not nearly as good as HH version
Grey Goose Slushies were okay...weak tho

I poked around Marketplace tonight, and all I saw for water was Dasani and Smartwater too. I didn't see the gallons, but it was crowded (lines to refill your mugs!) and I might have missed them.

Woohoo! Get some sleep, you don't want to be exhausted before you get there! We fly Wednesday for Florida, going to Ft Lauderdale first for some beach time :beach: and family visiting.

/QUOTE]

Thanks. Hoping to get some tonight. Have fun at the beach!

The Princess Half is in February. The WDW Marathon is in January. There is a a half marathon on Saturday and a full marathon on Sunday. If you run both, you get an extra Goofy medal for a grand total of three medals. I have a friend who does it every year.....she's crazy, I mean Goofy! New this year is a Dopey challenge...if you run the 5K on Thursday, 10K on Friday, half marathon on Saturday AND the full marathon on Sunday, you will receive six medals....one for each of the races plus a Goofy medal and a Dopey medal. If I did all of that, I would be dead!

Expedition Everest 5K with obstacles is in May and the ToT 10 mile is in October. The ever popular F&W half marathon is in November.

I am not a runner. I've done an 8K thru downtown Chicago several times but that's the extent of my running. This is going to be a challenge...both mentally and physically. I've said for years that the only half marathon I would run would be the Princess at WDW. When my friend said she had signed up, I gave it some serious thought and I'm going for it! We'll be the five middle-aged sorority sisters chanting and doing our secret handshake as we run walk thru YC! Ha ha ha. Just kidding!

Two sleeps until I am "home." Hoping I will actually sleep. We are mostly packed, but need an extra suitcase. Trying to fit four people's clothes for 10 days in two suitcases just didn't work out. Just trying to decide if we want to give our DD a light carry-on with wheels or pay the extra fee to ship an additional suitcase. Decisions, decisions. Hope that everyone who is there now or headed there soon has a great time!

I remember this question being asked a while ago, but with as fast as this board moves, I know there's NO way I'll find it.

I thought someone mentioned that all CL rooms had balconies. But when I spoke with the IPO yesterday morning, she told me that they did not. Honestly, I'm a little worried now because having a balcony is a pretty big deal to DH and me. While at the Poly last year, it was so great having even just that little bit of extra space, either for the kids to go hang out and watch the goings-on outside, or for DH and I to chill after the kids go to bed. I know we'll have extra space with the CL lounge, but we have to leave the kids to enjoy it.

So, would someone clarify this for me? Do all of the BC CL rooms have balconies, or no? I know they're not all full balconies, but at least something?

All BC rooms have some sort of balcony. Please see this from the FAQ post of this thread.

Will I have a full balcony?

Almost all of the rooms at the Yacht Club have a full balcony. A few rooms have extra large balconies that may be shared with another room.
About 50% of the rooms at the Beach Club have full balconies with a table and two chairs. The remaining 50% have standing or "Juliet" balconies.

If you are staying at the Beach Club and a full balcony is important to you, you should have "Full balcony, please" as your first or only request.

When you check-in at the desk, ask about your balcony and if you are not happy with it, ask if there is a full balcony available. CMs will try their best to satisfy you. Don't do the advanced online check-in. This is for guests who will just pickup their key and go, no questions asked and is not designed for people who may request changes to their assigned room.

Here are a couple of pictures. The first one by pittpantherfan shows BC patio, full and Juliet balcony rooms.

Thanks - I actually did see this, but I was asking about CL rooms specifically. I thought CL rooms were on the 5th floor, and from the pics, it looked like the 5th floor had mostly full balconies, not the Juliet. I did have the IPO note our preference on the reservation.

Yes, as indicated above, all BC rooms do have some sort of balcony, and that includes club level. Actually, club level has a higher percentage of full balconies to the regular ones, so the odds are ever in your favor.

Have a fantastic trip!!!

Hope you are able to solve the packing dilemma!

I'm using my Minnie coffee mug as I prepare to make some reservations for my short extended family trip in Feb with a stay at BLT. Yay!!

We are arriving next Wednesday for our first stay at the Yacht club - woohoo! Is there any way possible to get one of those BOG emails???

I have added you to the Be Our Guest list we keep here on Page 1 of this thread. Just a listing of who is staying where and when. Unfortunately, no special perks with this. Also has nothing to do with the emails folks are getting inviting them to participate in the MagicBand testing.

Let us know if you have any questions about the Yacht Club before your stay.

:woohoo:

Help!! We are BC lovers, but for our stay there is only pool view available, and DH doesn't want to spend the extra $ for view, so we chose garden view at YC.
My concern is that we will not have the convenience to Marketplace.
We like to grab breakfast here or even dinner sometimes when we are on the go. With 4 kids, there have also been a handful of times where one of us has had to run downstairs to grab something. Is it a big inconvenience being at the YC and further away from the Marketplace??

I was surprised not to find you on the Be Our Guest list. When is your trip?

Others with past stays at the YC have added their input about your question and I will also repeat that you can continue to check for openings at BC up until your trip.

:thumbsup2

We are checking in to the YC this Sunday  and I am wondering about the security of leaving our carry-on bag with bell services in case the room isn't ready. I expect DD will have some electronics in hers; just curious about how/where stuff is stored. Also, I think I read somewhere that valuables can be stored at the front desk? Anyway, what do most of y'all do with your carry-ons while waiting for the room?

I would feel confident leaving electronics with bell services.

:)

Hello,

We are going to be arriving at the Beach Club in one week! The excitement is killing me and since it's a surprise for our 2 DS I can't even share it with that many people!!

Since we will only be there from Wednesday to Monday we decided to rent a car for ease of getting around and a quick departure from the airport.

We will be only carrying carry on bags and not checking any luggage. My only concern is how will I get my sunscreen there. I know that I can probably buy it at the Marketplace but think that it will probably be expensive there.

Is it possible that I send a bag via magical express even though we aren't taking the bus?

Or I was thinking I could ship it there but would have to use the USPS and they might not let me send the sunscreen.

I would prefer not to stop on the way. Got to get the biggest WDW fix I can!!

Thanks,
Lois

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for next week.

:cool1:

Others have given you some great suggestions about your sunscreen question.

I don't think you need to notify ME. I don't think they monitor too closely that a plane has arrived and passengers are expected for a particular resort. But I could be wrong.

Lots of private transfer companies. We used Ed Korgan Travel a couple of weeks ago and we were very pleased with their attentiveness. There should be some info and reviews of various companies, but no pixie dust ;) on the Transportation forum here on the DIS.

:goodvibes

Thanks PNO4TE and Best Aunt for the replies!

After I pressed send I thought, just get it at the marketplace. How much more could it cost.

I think the idea of a sunscreen swap sounds good. Less waste is always better. I'm arriving on August 14th if anyone will be leaving that day.

If someone has some great, if not I guess I won't stress it.

Thanks again,
Lois

I think I have updated everyone on the Be Our Guest list- please take a peek and let me know if anything needs to be changed

Post 15: Be Our Guest list

For the record... I was calling this the Be Our Guest list before THAT restaurant opened in NFL!!!

You can get travel sized sunblock at Target. I always found a few tubes go a Long way. And my husband is fair skinned.

Oh that is good to know. I will look in to target. I am there everyday for something. Lol

I also love the sunscreen swap idea too!

Almost all the BC club level rooms have a full balcony. There are rooms on some of the corners that have the standing balcony. And I'm sure there are a few other odd rooms without the full balcony. But there aren't very many of them.

The next time we are at the Beach Club I'm going to walk around the resort and take a picture of every elevation so I can satisfy my curiosity about balconies. I really think that the BC has more than 50% full balconies or patios, since it is mostly the 3rd floor and some other odd rooms and sections with standing balconies. But until I can see all the sides of the resort, I'll never know for sure. ;)
