when looking to rent a vacation home? Are all the developments equally nice? Does it drastically effect travel times when getting to the Parks?

Can't help with the rental homes, since we use timeshare resorts. Regarding traffic, these are just my personal opinion: Lake Buena Vista offers the easiest commute to WDW parks.

Kissimmee (Rte 192, both directions) offers the worst traffic due to ongoing road construction. Given one of these, I'd choose west of WDW. If you are east of WDW near 192, take Osceola Parkway to bypass 192. If you are west of WDW near 192, take the back road near Silver Lake Resort, across from Westgate Vacation Villas, which takes you to an access road near Animal Kingdom.

Orlando proper can be a bit far from the parks, depending on which part you're in. If you are near South Int'l Drive, you can avoid I-4 for an easy commute down to Rte. 536. If you are anywhere north of Sea World on I-Drive, the traffic on both I-Drive and I-4 to the parks can be bad.

Holiday periods, rush hours and summertime are all worst for traffic. Hope this helps! :)

Hi....we have stayed many times with kids and grandkids....distance in miles to disney does not always equal faster.....I think the fastest to Disney is from villas at Sommerset, just off Poinciana Blvd.....from there you hop on the Osceola Parkway and are in Disney in about 8 minutes total....these are 3 br 2 bath condos with a nice pool you should be able to get the easy for $90 or less per night...for houses for rent, I would be a little leary about anything west of disney that puts you on 192. Construction has been heavy and can be slow to Disney at peak times....this would include Esprit, Davenport Lakes, and Bass Lake....If you can find a home close to I-4 and highway 27, the I-4 entrance to Disney is really slick..........we have always rented from vrbo.com (rentals direct from the owner) and been very satified...always ask for the low season rate as there are lots of over built rentals around Disney.....good luck...grandpa Ted

How is the construction/traffic currently on 192? We are looking to stay at the Doubletree Suites Orlando Maingate in September but I am a little leary of the road construction reports.
