PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

I maybe in the minority and I totally get why a lot of people want the preferred views. But for me the home resort advantage allows me to book standard view rooms to save points.
That's kind of what I figure too, with Disney (in my opinion) over-valuing and over-promising on views. (I had a BLT lake view recently that I would definitely have classified as standard)

Better to book the cheaper category (in most cases) and sometimes be pleasantly surprised than book the expensive category and risk being disappointed while paying extra for it.

The exceptions would be places like BWV where they have fixed the view problem. BW view is almost always great and worth it in my experience. They fixed it when they split BW from PG view. Would be more of a risk if they were still combined.

I just don't think members should have to play the "room request" game to get the views that they are paying points for. Split the views up further or accurately place the rooms in the categories please and thank you

When the Treehouse Villas were added to SSR, they were the same points as a 2 bedroom. After a couple years when the treehouse points sold out, the Treehouses went up and the 2 bedrooms went down.
The story is more complex than that.

Initially DVC created OKW near HH and BW view at BWV as booking categories after guests inundated MS with requests for those areas. They created the booking categories without reallocating points (hence not moving points across units). Initially DVC didn't think they could.

Then they started doing it, in case that were sort fo justified. They increased the cost of THV and lowered 2BR at SSR, decreased the cost of reclassified standard views at BLT and AKV compensating with other units, increased concierge and decreased value, created standard and preferred at SSR moving points around. No one challenged them, probably seeing the reason behind those changes.

So they got greedy: can we extract value for this? So they published the 2020 points charts, in which they increased the lockoff premium; increased studios and 1BR decreasing 2BR; decreased bungalows and cabins increasing other units. This time members complained and threatened legal action. They rolled back the changes and haven't attempted it since. The only change they did since is reallocate the seasons (making another mistake that owners challenged in 2022, but that's another story) which is allowed and spelled in the POS.

I agree.

I also have to question if, while PIT is heavily filled with cash guests, they are assigning the "better" TPV rooms (for obvious reasons).

I have said this many times before, but...

I would be hesitant to attach motive or belief on the part of DVC management to any particular DVC action. I would be VERY hesitant to draw any conclusions about what they might do in the future based on such past (assumed) motives and beliefs.

Right. Don’t attach a motive to certain (in)actions when incompetence is a perfectly reasonable explanation.

We had a room facing the monorail and it was magic. The twin toddlers were mesmerized and kept calling out the colors as they passed by. “Blue train” “green train” it was free entertainment that kept them busy the whole weekend. We were able to have a cup of coffee and a conversation like normal adults. 🤣 When it was time for fireworks we put them in their pajamas and took the elevator to the lounge, easy breezy. Getting to Epcot we just walked over to TTC and hopped in the monorail. At Wailulu we sat in one of the booths outside and nobody even noticed them. For us, it just felt very comfortable and like we weren’t constantly “managing” them. I have two use years, so I can buy two sets of one time use points. One of my contracts has membership magic so they are BOGO. I’m going to hold off on buying more points, but if that were to change in the future I’d definitely add more poly.
Is the room facing the monorail a “ resort” standard view?

We had a resort view room when we stayed at PIT in December and it wasn’t great, but the road construction played a big part of that. I agree it’s not on par with any of the resort views of OG Poly but our boys enjoyed watching the monorail go by from our balcony.

We were also close to a viewing area so we could just walk to that and catch the fireworks if we wanted. I’m not sure I would bay TPV points unless it’s a special occasion.

Few questions before I explore further into Poly direct purchase:

1. Do I have to wet sign anything or is everything done electronically?

2. Is it better to wait until you're on a cruise to buy direct? I think I read somewhere that there are better incentives while you're on a cruise.

3. Has anyone heard if there is a Magical Beginning for Poly yet?

1 - All electronic (docusign etc), but I think it is optional to wet sign, including notary.

2 - I’ve been on 10 DCL cruises in the last year and have always asked the guides on board this same question. Basically, the answer is no.

3 - No magical beginnings for Poly yet. Next incentive round is this month, so we’ll see? My guess is no change to incentives.

No!!! Tell me it isn’t so. Because like a huge % of us thought Poly Tower would be a separate resort and it ended up not being.

I think if Disney becomes predictable then the end is near. I have never been surer about anything more than you can’t be sure when it comes to Disney.
