April 2025 Refurbs

For anyone who hasn't experienced the WDW version - it's a 1.0 iteration. From day one, DLR's was a significant improvement - a lot of this update is just getting it to our level. The quality of the ride at WDW was almost something closer to something at Six Flags or Cedar Fair (or even the Lego version at some malls) - something that became comparatively embarrassing after a while. "The Magic Kingdom is a kids park" - so it was okay if it was meh.

It wouldn't surprise me if they bring this update to DLR, but I don't know that there's as much as an imperative as there is at WDW. WDW's has desperately needed this for a long, long time.

I couldn't agree with you more.

WDW's version is an embarrassment and needed this 10 years ago.

Dumbo closes on 4/22 through 4/24. Reopens 4/25.

it's a Small World closed on Tuesday 1/21. 1/21/25 to 5/8/25. Reopens May 9.

I know for many its not big...but this sucks I'm going May 4th with my wife and now its just one less thing to do and its a great people eater

I'm more upset because it was closed last year already as well, anyway just a small rant hope Indy doesn't have any delays reopening

I am sorry. This delay is awful. It seems Disneyland is dragging its feet with the refurbs. The refurb dates have been constantly changing and is
really causes panic and havoc for visitors whether local or out of town.

I find this year more difficult than last year headed into summer. Last year we all knew HM and TBA were closed. This year, it's kind of a mystery what will go down headed into June/July. In the old days it would be nothing, but now summer is slower than fall/holidays so they will likely have at least a couple of things closed.

Also add to the mix...the 70th celebration it makes it difficult to predict.

Also to add

While I'm happy we are getting coco characters to me I hope they did more....because if its just paint and polish kinda insane HM went down and they redid the entire Q along with new effects in the ride and for SM which closed for about 8 months if not more of the past year and only one thing is really changing it feels underwhelming to me

Anyway, the Tinker Bell area being down for like 8 months as well to me also shows DIsney just seems willing to have things down to have less cast around the park....some with parts of Tom Sawyer's island

I think Pixie Hollow has been closed for over a year now. I know for sure it was closed last July. I agree, at this point cost cutting is certainly one of the most viable reasons it's been closed so long.

We already know that the refurb wasn't just for Coco. That was just something they highlighted about the 70th.

The note that came out last fall was that there was major ride maintenance taking place that would happen in two sections - two months last fall before Holiday, then the three months (plus) since Holiday. They just didn't announce the specifics.

They've had a lot of equipment around the exterior areas of the attraction, too - but it feels like they're working at night - most of the vloggers haven't seen the equipment in use.

From the looks of that area, I would wager that they're completely refurbing the clock. The clock face is currently replaced by a flat (this is real), which happened very recently:

I agree, I think this is a legitimate serious refurb of an old and beloved attraction. Everything needs some very good TLC sometimes, especially the older rides.

We knew this well in advance. We are fortunate that they did it in two stints and opened for the holidays in between.

I know this isn't the reason for the closure, but they are supposed to be adding the final verse for the 70th as well.

With respect to Pixie Hollow, I was there just before it closed in mid September 2024.

Thank you, I stand corrected on Pixie Hollow! I thought it was closed last July while I was there, but I might be thinking of Redwood Creek (which has itself been closed a lot over the past year).

I have no specific knowledge here - but it's possible that Pixie Hollow was closed while you were there, just not part of this more long-term closure. There were reports on Reddit for the prior year (or more) that it was closed on a given day for no clear reason.
