Does DME run to/from WDW resorts and the DCL pier?

We were thinking of taking a short 3 or 4 day Bahamian cruise next year and thought that spending the night before and after our cruise at a WDW resort would make it less stressful but since we don't want to rent a car can we take DME? Also, would it make sense to have them deliver our bags for us or would it take too long? Thanks.

Disney does offer transportation between WDW and Port Canaveral but it is not free. Cost is $35 per person each way ($70 round trip.) Same for transportation between MCO (airport) and Port. Only MCO to WDW is free for Disney resort guests.

DME does not do this, but DCL transfers does. DCL Transfers runs from MCO to port and also you can be picked up at your resort. It is not free, it runs $35/person each way. In your case you can be picked up at the airport by DME and taken to your resort. You will be given a paper telling you what time DCL Transfers will pick you up for your cruise. After the cruise you can use DCL Transfer again to return to WDW and then DME for transportation back to the airport the next day.

Thanks, I don't mind paying if it's not too much. Since we are DVC members the DME isn't included so we'd be paying about $90 each way for DME for the three of us and $105 each way for the DCL Transfer, I'm thinking it might be better if we just paid for a car service or Mears (which I'm guessing would run about $100 each way too) to take us to and from. Then we can keep our bags and not have to wait up to three hours for DME to bring them to our room.

DME between MCO & WDW is free for all Disney Resort Guests (which includes DVC).

Huh? Since when is DME not included for DVC members? We just used it two weeks ago.
It's available for use but you have to pay for it. We went to WDW in August and because we weren't booking a package, we had to pay for the DME separately from our room reservation. And if memory serves it was $30 each way per person (maybe it was round trip, I can't recall).

I'm going to have too look into this, I swear I was told that we had to pay for DME.
From the member website:
Disney's Magical Express provides complimentary round-trip transportation and luggage delivery service between Orlando International Airport* and Disney Resort hotels.

We just used DME last week for a DVC stay, no charge, never has been a charge.

Wait, wait, wait. I remember now. Forget everything I said. It was free from MCO to WDW. We had to pay for DME when we took our cruise on points a couple of years ago (it's included in the cruise package when you book your airfare and cruise together through DCL, if you don't book airfare with your cruise, then you pay $30 round trip for DME whether paying cash or points). My bad. So, free DME and still just use Mears or car service to/from resort and pier.

DME does not run to the Port. DME is only between MCO & WDW.

DCL ground transportation runs from either WDW or MCO to PC and it costs $35 per person one-way.

Yes, I totally messed up and forgot, sorry about that.

There is a bus (which I called DME by mistake) that takes people from MCO to the DCL pier and if you book a cruise/airfare package together via Disney, it is free. If you just book the cruise and make your own flight arrangements then they charge you $30 round trip (at least that's what I remember, but we know what my memory is like :hyper:). If you are using points, you have to make your own flight arrangements so you don't get free transport to/from the pier.

DME is the name used for the included bus ride for Disney resort guests from MCO to WDW and return. It is paid for as part of your cash room rate or for DVC, from the transportation dues. The same company runs the same painted buses to the DCL terminal which is paid for out of pocket.
