We initially purchased at VB almost 4 years ago. (guide didn't explain about the 11/7 month rule for home resort). VB was all that was available and price was great. We stayed at VB and liked it, but most of our trips will be to WDW. I'm not sorry we have VB points, but just wish it wasn't the largest contract.

Decided we needed to add on, but didn't think I would care for VWL, so we wiated a year until BCV opened. We like BCV, especially for SAB, when we take the grandkids and because of the shade.

Stayed at VWL in December a couple of years ago, and fell in love with it. So, we purchased VWL points from Disney so we would have 11 month window there.

I think we're set with points. I know it will be easier to get ressies at OKW or SSR. I love BWV also, but can get ressies at BCV and then try for BWV at 7 months. If we purchased anymore points, we'd probably add on to our BCV or VWL contracts.

When we purchased VWL was the only DVC resort available from Disney. We knew nothing about resales and I had not found these boards yet. But VWL would have been our choice even if we could have chosen another home resort. We started with 300 points and added another 100. I just wish GV's were available there for when we bring our children and grandchildren.

We own 202 points at the BWV and 202 points at the BCV. I am very happy with these and would do it all over again. I love this area and these two resorts! :bounce:

I own 250 points at BWV. When I bought in 1999, the choices were OKW resale or BWV direct. I liked both, but I wanted to stay at BWV in early December, so I bought there to have the home resort advantage. I've had no problems booking OKW for early May the past 5 years.

We are new DVC members, just bought a resale contract at BCV and we are absolutely thrilled to own there. We were ready to buy SSR from Disney when I found these boards and shifted strategies after getting advice from so many people to buy where we most wanted to stay. I am sure SSR is very nice but SAB and the proximity to Epcot were most importnant to us.

We Bought OKW first, and Love it. when we were finally able to add-on, OKW was sold out so we "settled" an a BCV add-on. Wish we held out for an OKW resale!

When we bought at VWL, we also knew absolutely nothing of the resale market. That said, we DO love VWL. However, when we do go for a resale purchase, it will most likely be at HHI. HHI, to me, is my true "home away from home", where I can sit outside at night with a beverage, and do nothing but listen to the music from the local restaurant (ok you HH veterans, what's the name of "that place" again?).

The Kingfisher?
We also love HH-that's the only resturaunt around that I can think of with live music.

Simba's Mom....... Thanks, The Kingfisher. Next trip to HH though, we're actually going to explore the island. (Last time, all we did is stay at the resort and relax, not that THAT'S a bad thing to do.)

Thanks again, Simba's Mom.

Dave

We bought in at OKW and added on VB. That doesn't mean we won't be "trying out" other places, but "Home" is where the heart is (and the $ for the annual dues ... LOL)

Of course my response is a little biased and based soley on what I have read here. I have yet to stay at a DVC resort but will be making my first trip home next month and will be staying at SSR. I love everything I have heard and cant wait to see it. I imagine that over time and when I get a chance to stay at other resorts that I will begin to like them as well.

I own at BWV (my first purchase) and BCV. Love, love, love them both. And glad I own both as they are not only my and my DH's favorites, but also all of my family. No one ever wants to stay anywhere else, now, they are all in love. I have no desire to stay at any of the other resorts - except for a couple of nights at VWL someday.

Just my personal opinion, BCV and BWV and VWL fill up faster than OKW. I think that's not just because of the owners, but because of the non-owners. So the low number of points at OKW and SSR may be a consideration - but location of the other three is a big draw for the non-owners. I think with the addition on SSR, that the three resorts will book up even faster.

So - that is the Number One reason why I'm glad I own BWV and BCV - Banking Window!

VWL and BCV! Couldn't decide so got them both. I have no plans for adding on in the near future. Maybe a few years down the line, I'll up my VWL points. :wave2:

I love owning at BWV and VWL....but I'd love to have points at BCV and HHI and maybe even OKW and SSR too...and more points at VWL.

Of course, I wouldn't trade the points I have....I just want more. When we first joined we had the choice of OKW or BWV and chose BWV, but it was a tough choice. So far though I'm really glad we made the choice we did.

We own at SSR and absolutely love it there (we were there opening week).

I would also love to have a piece other resorts if I could afford or thought it would be practical for our vacation needs.

I suppose if I had the ideal contract it would be:

1. BCV - We love Epcot - it is our favorite park, so to be able to walk over would be great

2. VWL - We love the theming of the resort, and Artists Pointe is a great Restaurant

3. SSR - It's great to get home from a day at the parks and be able to walk over to DTD for some nightlife. Plus, to have LBV golf course right there is ideal for the days we dont go to the parks, we will be on the course.

But as I said - we are really happy with SSR, it is a great resort for us.

Eric

I am thrilled to own at two locations VWL and BCV. They are so different and have great access to MK and EPCOT respectfully. I will be frustrated that it will be more difficult to get into HH at the seven month window, but if that's the way it goes so be it. The best advice I ever got from this board when I was looking to buy is to purchase where you want to stay. Thanks because I did.

The frugal part of me loves the OKW "value proposition." Had we ended up there, I'd love the big rooms, low points. Since we aren't there, I'll let its out of the way location and (current) lack of a pool slide dissuade me from deciding we'd made a poor choice.

ITA with this!! We own at VWL and it is *perfect* for our family, but my own frugal side sees the "value" (perfect word, crisi!) of OKW. We've stayed at OKW a couple of times and enjoyed it, and almost bought a resale there, but in the end realized that our points at VWL were sufficient and that we were happiest there. :)

We own at our favorite two and if we could only ever stay there we would be very happy.

I voted that I wish I also owned at a different resort, but actually wish I owned more points at a different resort. I am a OKW Vero owner

We purchased at SSR, sight unseen for several reasons:

1. The location- We're at DTD several times each trip and loved the "walkability".
2. The theme- Very appealing!
3. The extra 12 years- Planning to leave to the kids for more vacation time.
4. The financial incentives- We paid $79 per point without giving up any first year points.
5. The ease of purchasing through Disney even though financing wasn't necessary.

That being said, we would like to try all the WDW resorts and HHI at some point. Also, Grandpop, who loves the Boardwalk, was (and still is) disappointed that we didn't buy there even though points were available through Disney. So we're waiting on ROFR for a small resale at BWV to ensure we can get him there every other year or so.

We own at Westgate Lakes for the great proximity to Sea World and Universal. Now that there are small children in the family we're happy to be in the DVC as well.
