We own at two resorts (OKW/BCV) and are very happy with the two we have.

Something about BCV is lacking to me. I dunno.

I know where you are coming from Shan, we too think something is missing there - I think it is the fact that it does not feel like it's own resort, and has a pretty isolated feeling - lots of hallways. I know some would say this about BWV, but that is big enough and has its own entrance area etc. to feel like a separate resort to me. As for VWL, this will seem odd but it feels like it has always been there - BCV seems like an afterthought

Having said that we still love our BCV because of SAB, the light coloured decor, Cape May and location next to Epcot - when the kids get older and SAB is not so important....our opinions may change

thanks

Yep Jaysue, you have it right. BCV does feel like an afterthought. It just seems kinda stuck on to me, I don't feel like I'm getting the whole resort feeling there. SAB is great, but once the kids are grown...
I didn't feel this way at BWV and VWL - even though the villas are "stuck on" it does seem different. Maybe cause it has so much theming?

We have always loved staying at the BC and when the BCV were built, there wasn't any question that we would be buying BCV points. And WE LOVE IT! If BCV are the only DVC resort that we stay at, we'll be happy! We thought about VWL for our December trip as it's so beautiful at that time of the year but we couldn't bear to give up staying at BCV and being able to walk back from the Candlelight Processional and the Osborne Lights.

I did listen when you said buy where you want to stay.
Bought at BCV because of location to EPCOT, MGM and Boardwalk. Could have not made a better decision.

Sometimes I get the feeling when others start resort bashing that it's sometimes due to "Resort Envy." They may not share it here, but they are so ready to find fault in a later built resort for example that one wonders if it is due to a bit of envy. Just a thought. Resort bashing seems to have greatly subsided recently.

We are Vero Beach and Beach Club Villa owners. Love them both, and the combination is wonderful for us. We can't do Disney every vacation for the entire vacation. Beach time is great.

Well, there's no question that it actually is an afterthought, and was not conceived 12+ years ago when BV and YC were built. But we still love it, and the attachement to the BC resort. It actually feels a bit exclusive to us, given all the close amenities, portraits in the lobby (we just had our boys done there) beauty shop, indoor hot tube, indoor access to restaraunts, gift shop, lounge, children's club, the outstanding steakhouse.....

But that's just us. We actually sold BWV to purchase BCV because we like it better. It's nice to have choices. To each his/her own.

I agree completely with both points but IMHO the second point has more to do with certain posters not frequenting these boards any more.

We love BCV where we own. That said, we stayed at VWL in June and are going back again in December (really surprised because we just called last week). We will also consider buying at OKW. Haven't stayed at BWV yet, but we'll probably love that too. Can I have them all? Please, please, please?

Hey Granny, isn't your trip to BWV coming up REAL soon???

Lenshanem- I guess I'm alittle confused. If your so unhappy why not sell your BCV and buy VWL. Or see if you can do a swap. Something. You sound very unhappy with your purchase. Why be unhappy for 40 more years??

We have 2 contracts, both at BWV. In retrospect, think we would have had more flexibility and enjoyed a contract at VWL. I've thought about unloading one of the BWV contracts in order to purchase a VWL contract -- haven't mentioned that one to my DH just yet...

I'll be fine TwingleMum unless a time comes that I can't get into VWL or BWV. :(

Wouldn't a swap be really involved? Basically it would involve selling and buying again thru resale and going thru ROFR, plus fees? And we still owe on our loan! :(

i cast my vote for the minority "wish i owned a different resort" option.

the addendum for me though is that last year i went ahead and fixed my problem by buying BWV and then selling my original OKW.

so technically right now, i'm perfectly happy with my home resort. :)</font>

I don't know if a swap is even possible. It just seems a shame to pay every month for something your not thrilled with. Do you think you would be happier if you could change your ownership?? BCV never seem to be around on resale boards so there is a quick market. Maybe the timeshare store or Jacki could tell you if a swap or sale/purchase is do able. and what the penalities would be or try your guide tell him how unhappy you are and ask if this is possible. You never know. I'll keep my fingers crossed you never have a problem getting in at either VWL or BWV.

We bought at BWV, and it's really the only DVC resort we have any interest in owning at. If and when we purchase an add on it would be through a resale at BWV - no regret here - it's such a great location.

When we purchased 250 points 3 years ago, we liked the incentives that we got when we bought at VB, as Disney was trying to sell that property out (still trying as of March of this year so we added on another 50 points!). Since we can find something desirable about any DVC resort in WDW, but would have an impossible time in getting a Beach Cottage for June at 7 months out, it really works for us to own at VB. We love where we own and would do it all over again.

In the meantime, we've stayed at BWV, OKW, BCV, and VWL all by booking 7 months out. Like I said, we are pretty flexible and will utilize that resort's location to the best of our ability during that trip (i.e. VWL for MK, BWV/BCV for Epcot, etc.). As we get this thing down better, we are slowly becoming a '3 times a year Disney family' so we can be more patient with our planning.

Using the same logic as above, we're in the process of buying a 150 point resale at HH (just passed ROFR!) for the same reason - there are times when we will want the GV at HH and will need the 11 month window. In WDW we mostly stay in a 1 or 2 bedroom so the booking window is less of an issue.

The REAL question becomes - where do we add on next? We'd like to get a WDW-based DVC property just to give us ultimate flexibility. Do we add on at SSR or one of the other WDW locations next time we're itching for points?!

Interesting observation. VB sure seemed to take it's lion's share of bashing there a while back. Glad it's subsided.

We like our VB.

I could see a HH add-on down the road. We need to try to stay there soon.

Cheers to you for taking steps to remedy the situation and get your desired home resort. I applaud you!!! Well done!!!

I always wondered if the rent trade board was a place to discuss trading home resort ownerships. I know it is not the place to talk about out right sales, but maybe the other is an option. Someone more qualified than me would know. You may be able to post your desires to trade ownership there.
