We just booked our trip for sept 11-18. Do you all take you Mac card, cash, traveler checks . What the best thing to do? What have you done in the past?

I do a combination. I bring some Disney Dollars that I've bought over the months at the Disney Store for spending money. Probably around $200.

Then I bring about $300 in cash for stuff I cannot charge..tips etc..

Finally I bring my Disney Visa and give that to the front desk and then I can charge most things to the room. I pay it off when I get home!

That's what works for us.

On our last two trips, we did a combo. Had no more than $200 cash with us at any time. Used our atm when we needed more cash. Put our souveniers and sit-down meals on our Visa (as well as our room and tickets). Paid off Visa when the bill came with money we had saved for trip.

We take about $200 in cash, mostly for tips, travel $$. Never big bills. We leave a CC at the desk, and charge to our room. We rarely take more than $15-20, to the parks, and rarely spend even that much.

The kids also have Disney Dollars for their soveniers. but only because they get them as gifts, from the Easter Bunny, Grandma, etc.

my DH usually carries some cash. I bring a very little cash and mostly trav. checks. But we also usually travel down by train. So i dont like to carry alot of cash with us. We usually have enough for the train or when we stop over in Wash. for lunch. Trav. checks work great for us.

Some cash, mostly traveler's checks...although not sure why because when we cash them they are just cash! Probably for bigger purchases.

I almost exclusively use my Disney Visa (or other credit card) at home and away. I take enough cash for snacks, since the vending carts don't always take Credit Cards. For me I take $4-5/day per person for snacks.

We take the biggest part in travelers checks, a smaller amount in cash, and put a credit card on the room for just in case.

Mostly traveler cheques ( the banker in me ) and debit card and some cash.

Combination of cash, credit & debit. In August, it'll be a combo of Cash/Disney Dollars for spending money, CC to hold the room, but Travelers checks to pay it off before leaving. I want that to be a cheap, fully paid for trip.

We take small amount of cash, disney dollars , traveler checks and charge card, last time we did not charge anything! :goodvibes

I have seen so many postings about Disney dollars, but there isn't a Disney store located near me!! I live about 2 hours from Atlanta, GA, but I'm not sure which mall (if any) has a Disney store. Does anyone know where I can get a listing of stores or is there another way to purchase "Disney dollars"??? Thanks for your help! This board is great!

Are there ATM machines at the Disney resorts? How about the parks and where are they located in the parks? What financial company operates the ATM(the bank name on the ATM)?

We charge everything and anything possible to our Disney Visa but it's backed by cash that we've already saved for the trip so when we get home the CC gets paid off. This way we already have Disney Rewards started for the next trip :goodvibes . We also take a small amount of cash for the rare times that something can't be charged. I just love having those free Disney Rewards to spend  .

I do the same thing, only with my AMEX. I charge most stuff back to my room (I leave my AMEX when I check in), and have money in the bank to pay the bill when it comes.

Honestly, though, it's whatever is best for your budget. If you can carry cash and not be tempted to spend it, bring that; if not, use credit cards or traveler's checks. Just make sure to not buy more than you can afford.

We will be taking cash and credit cards with us this trip. In the past we tried traveler's check and found them to be somewhat of a pain.

Yes, they have some Floridian version of MAC machines that are on the PLUS system. Might even be on the Star network. Last time I looked (It's been a few years.....right about the time the banks started sticking it to you) they were being managed by Sun Trust.

I know they exist in/under Main Street station in the Magic Kingdom. Don' tknow about the rest of the World.

Hope this helps,
Joe
