Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

This has probably been asked a million times but How do the busses work? I know they only have one stop but I could t find a straight answer if they share with riverside. Lots of different forums were saying no and some say sometimes during quiet parts of the day? Any confirmation would be appreciated

If you go to PortOrleans.org there is a entire Transportation section that discusses the buses.

Short synopsis:

When Do the Two Resorts Share Buses?

The ‘North Depot’, between the Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend areas
The ‘North Depot’, between the Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend areas
The theme park buses officially start operating at 7am, although sometimes you might find buses commence a little earlier than that as they leave their home depot at about 6:30am. Many routes operate independent services for French Quarter and Riverside (especially at busier times of day) but shared services calling at both resorts generally operate as follows:

Magic Kingdom: Shared service for the first few buses very early in the morning only (for early character breakfasts)
Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Shared service for the first few buses very early in the morning only (for early character breakfasts)
Epcot: Shared service for the first few buses very early in the morning (for early character breakfasts) and also during the middle of the day, 11am—4pm
Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Shared service 11am—park closing.
Disney Springs: Shared service all day, also incorporating an Internal Resort Shuttle service for travel within Port Orleans.
At other times, the two resorts generally operate independent bus services. The switch from the initial early-morning POFQ/POR shared service back to the regular morning routing does not seem to happen at any fixed time, depending instead on factors like which parks have early Extra Magic Hours and the current level of demand. However you can expect the shared service to operate until around 7:30-8am. The last few buses late at night may operate a shared service too.

Thanks for the help

Probably needs some minor updating when I get round to it, as I don't think even the first park buses in the morning are shared now. Disney Springs buses always share though.

Could someone who's recently caught the very first buses of the morning from FQ confirm if they went on to Riverside before going to the parks? Certainly none of the Riverside buses went to FQ afterwards anyway, I caught several over the past three weeks.

No, none of the first buses of the day went on to Riverside, in my experience, from 8.18 to 8.31. Animal Kingdom buses were not shared either, through closing. The only shared bus we had was after the Disney After Hours at Hollywood Studios.

Edited to add that I noticed the inner resort shuttle bus at FQ more often on this trip than I ever have before.

That’s good to know thanks.

I have stayed at POFQ 6 times and shared a bus once with POR it was the middle of the day coming back from Animal Kingdom. That was the one an only time I encountered this

Thank you, that’s great to know.

Unfortunately, it looks like the shapes through that shower door do not resemble a handheld shower head. Who can I contact to voice my complaint and make them rectify this travesty?
I don’t know the account (sorry!) but I watched an Instagram video touring a new room and there was absolutely a handheld shower attachment.

I have seen the handheld shower in the new walk-in shower refurbs on YT. I do not know, however, if the rooms with the shower/tub combo have the handheld showers. Can anyone speak to this?? All of the pics I have seen of the shower/tub combo do not include that angle.

Oh that must be what I saw. The walk in shower.

What travesty do they need to rectify? The wall-mounted showers over the tubs in the new rooms are the same type as before, with a single rotary control for flow/temperature, and a pull-up knob on the faucet to switch between bath and shower modes. I'd prefer to have two separate flow and temperature control dials, but it's not a major bother. Otherwise it works fine, just as it always has.

The fixtures in the walk-in shower rooms in some of the new rooms have both an overhead rainfall head (which is what I prefer) and a hand-held shower head if that's what you are looking for?

Returned from an 8 night stay at PORFQ. Everything was lovely as always. Never shared a bus with Riverside and we used bus transportation to all 4 theme parks and Disney Springs. Buses were usually more than 1/2 empty with the exception being 2 nights. We used Lyft for Typhoon Lagoon to avoid the transfer at DS. Beignets (allergy friendly version) were tasty and shrimp & grits were even better! Construction was seen but never heard, bus transportation was fabulous-probably even better than usual due to there being 2 empty buildings. Building 1 reopened our check in day but we were not able to get in it that first night and didn't want to set up a room and then move a few days later. We were assigned building 6 and while I enjoyed the scenery of the walk to the bus and food court, it is a little further away than I like. Building 4 and 5 near the food court will always be my preference for convenience. The pool was great and never too crowded like it sometimes is in the summer. The week after Labor Day seemed to be a great week to visit the parks. This was our 4th stay at this resort.

There aren't any king beds in the River View category rooms. However there are some lovely river views available from some of the King Bed category rooms, which you could request. This is Magnolia Terrace first and second floor for example; the river is at the top of this plan. The dark blue rooms are sold as "River View" while the purple ones are King Bed.

That's for Riverside though. In FQ, there are King beds that are on the river. Three of our five times in a King room we have been on the river.
