Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I hadn't noticed in previous pics but---Is that a pocket door now between vanity area and toilet/shower?

Also. is there a nightlight built-in to one of the outlets in the vanity area? Is the shower just a fixed head or is there an adjustable handheld shower?
They use to have a regular door separating the vanity area and the shower area, so glad they switched to a pocket door, so much easier.

Very excited on the new rooms! I just wanted to ask is it possible to request a king bed or is just booking a king room my best bet? It’s just unfortunately out of my budget.

If you don't book a King room, odds of you getting a King room are slim to none. Requesting them would possibly work for resorts where King isn't a bookable category, but if it's a bookable category, your request should match what you booked.

Thank you, thought that was the case!

We are staying here for the first time in December. We have a river view room booked, are there any king beds in that category that we can request? Not a big deal if not or if we don't get it, but a king room is preferred. Also, are all refurbs scheduled to be done by December?

The new rooms look gorgeous and I think it will make a better first impression on my husband. I've stayed in POR a few times, but never POFQ. And, my husband has only gone to Disney as a DVC member so he's use to staying in the villas. Hoping he'll love POFQ for it's quiet vibes!

King rooms are a separate booking category I believe.

IMO, which might be the unpopular opinion, if you want a king room, see if you can switch to a king room. There aren't balconies so it's not like you'll be missing out on sitting and enjoying your river view. All a river view really guarantees is a longer walk to the buses and main building and a shorter walk to the boat to DS.

That's a good point about not being able to sit and enjoy the view. I was just thinking about how pretty it would be but didn't really thing the whole thing through. I'll see if I can switch it to a king room instead. Thanks for the input!

There aren't any king beds in the River View category rooms. However there are some lovely river views available from some of the King Bed category rooms, which you could request. This is Magnolia Terrace first and second floor for example; the river is at the top of this plan. The dark blue rooms are sold as "River View" while the purple ones are King Bed.

Sorry if I missed it, but have they removed the shrimp and grits from the QS dining?

GF folks mentioned that Disney is doing another round of homogenizing the QS menus...

It was on the menu at FQ a few days ago. But yes, menus are becoming far too homogenised.

Thanks! I just noticed from a prior post that they typically don't list shrimp and grits on the online menus, but it makes me nervous not to see it. It's a favorite...
