Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned this here yet but I was told by special reservations (Disney) that The Polynesian opens July 18th and the first week is full.

They have been taking reservations starting July 19 for a while now. Currently only the super pricey suite, TPV, and Lagoon View are showing availability 7/19-24.

@Dug720 I agree with your TA as of today the capacity is managed below 100% currently but Orange county has moved to the Orange level and Covid-19 restrictions have been adjusted to reduce social distancing from 6ft to 3ft.

Jackie Gailey here from WDWInfo ( part of the DIS family ) posted about the new Orange county guidelines yesterday.

By July 19th capacity levels may have increased at WDW Parks and at the resorts. They have added the BC (May 30), WL (June 6) and the BWI (July 2).

Disney has recently added additional Disney Park Pass availability for May and June as they did earlier this month for (April).

But we have yet to see what Disney will do. They are a private company and don't have to be subject to relaxations if they are not ready.

It may be that a lot of that "additional availability" was them cancelling park reservations without admission attached. We just don't know yet.

Maybe they aren't ready to relax some of their mask requirements because even more people will show up ( which they would probably love, but they aren't staffed enough yet ) Then again, they probably will wait till Juneish anyway to start that for the summer

I'm fully agreeing with you. We don't know what they are going to do yet. As a private company they can set their own rules to a degree. It will be especially interesting to see what they do because if they had a vaccinated clause for some relaxation, they would run into how do you VERIFY it because you know there are anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers who would fake vaccine cards just to not wear them. And even if they figured out how to VERIFY it, how do you indicate people who are "safe" without the anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers mimicking it? The last thing they want or need is to relax restrictions too soon and have a major outbreak traced to them.

But we're way off topic now. :) Back to the magicalness of the Poly.

You are 100% correct that Disney will forge their own path for increased capacity but as more resorts open both on and off property unless they want to go to 24 hour park operations they will need to raise capacity levels, reduce social distancing spacing, and maybe other creative ideas like Virtual Queues for other attractions.

As for the Polynesian that capacity will be some what rolling if all the buildings are not complete by July 19th.

No the additional availability happened before today when the new policy actually started to sweep for orphan Disney Park Pass reservations. And I don't think the first sweep happens until tonight.

Very excited to stay here for the first time in September! We currently have a lagoon-view room booked for a party of 4, and were considering upgrading to the 1 bedroom suite.

It seems like no info is available on the suites yet post-renovation. Would anyone who's stayed in these pre-renovation be able to comment on them vs. a standard room? Worth it?

We'll probably be in the parks most of the time, but with 4 adults a bit of extra space not to trip over each other could be nice :)

Well the 1 Br has a basic 2 QB room with an adjoining parlor that is the size of another standard room. The bathroom area extends into the parlor area where the other bathroom would be (if that makes sense). It normally would come with CL access to the King Kamehameha club and the CL service in the Hawaii building (CL services are not currently available and we don't know when it will return).

There should be a day bed in the parlor along with another real couch and a chair with ottoman. We don't know exactly how these rooms are will be configured after the Moana themed renovation. There should also be a wet bar with a mini-fridge in the parlor.

It is a lot of space but if you are going to be the parks I would not vote for this specific splurge.

Did you happen to see a bus schedule for the Goldline bus that has been running the loop of the Monorail resorts before Monorail service starts in the morning for Breakfast and after Monorail service ends in the evening for dinner options?

Dave
No. I Didn’t see that schedule. But I’ll try to look for it

We just got home from a short staycation - and our first stay at the Poly! I was able to rent points very inexpensively so we splurged and now I see why the points are so much higher than others ;)

Because we visit often, we spend a lot of time at the hotel and we really enjoyed it.

We did stop into the makeshift check-in area, even though we did online check-in, just to touch base. We were burned by the online check-in at BLT last year and now I always stop by if we haven't already gotten the room ready notification. I asked about an area to change for the pool and he pointed me to a guest room situated right there that was open for anyone to use. I hadn't seen that mentioned, and it was a bit of a surprise, but extremely convenient! So, if you want to hit the pool before your room is ready, know you can pop into a spare hotel room to change.

We arrived at 11 and got our room ready notice at 12:30. I didn't make any room requests and were given 1st floor of Tokelau. Obviously have nothing to compare it to but I loved the location and with a stroller, really love the 1st floor.

Only issue we had was a bus to AK yesterday morning. We really aren't bus people but I was trying to avoid the carseat wrestling match so we opted to take it. A big crowd was already waiting when we got there; another family said they had been there 30 minutes already before we arrived and we waited another 20! Finally, an AK bus arrived and there was really not space for everyone. Thankfully (or not, depending on your stance?), he allowed everyone to board. People were standing, sharing the seat sections, etc but we all made it! Boat, monorail, and bus to MK other times were just fine.

We dined at Captain Cooks 4000 times & Kona for breakfast. Didn't bother to eat a single meal away from the Poly and were completely happy!

Thanks for all the tips you all shared throughout the thread - I read them all! Hope we can book another stay there, soon!
