Disney's PhotoMovie

We ordered ours on Wednesday and it was shipped on Thursday! :Pinkbounc FAST! We keep watching the preview and are so excited for the real one to arrive. Actually, we ordered a copy for us and each of our adult children who made our trip in March so special. The grandkids love watching the preview and will be so excited when they see the "surprises" that come on the real video. :bounce: Right now Disney is reducing the price by $20 during the introduction stage. Yes, with my software I could have made a slideshow with music, with my own digi pics but there's no way I could have had the backgrounds and characters come to life. I now consider DisneyMovie just one more souvenir of our wonderful times at Disney! :wizard:

Wow. I can't wait until our next trip in April 2006. I think the DVD is a great idea for a special keepsake. I will definately be doing this. It says you can add up to 68 photos. I love this idea.

You can add 68 pictures to the DVD HOWEVER, at the end of the DVD is a slide show of all of the pictures that you uploaded (up to 120 pictures). These are set to music also. In those 120 are the original 68 so be sure to upload the other 52 that you want included at the end. :wizard:

I can't WAIT to do this! I know, I know... I already said that. But I keep watching the sample and reading about it. I hope it's still "on sale" when we return.... I don't want to pay $60!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to hear from those of you that have ordered already!!

Thank you so much shannon1219, I have just seen the preview I shall definatley purchase one :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc - wow, cant wait to get snapping this holiday - 2 days and counting !

The link for movies doesn't help for the book format. Anyone have the book link? Is it available on internet, too? Anyone try this version?

Anyone get theirs yet? I'm back, and extremely interested in hearing about the quality!

I do this exact thing at the end of every trip using iMovie and iDVD on my Mac. If I want to get more complex, I use Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro. Obviously not everyone has those skills or programs available, but it's really fun to do if you know how. I grab all the photos from the photo pass site, all of my digital photos and video that I shoot and create a DVD scrapbook for everyone that has joined our trip.

I seriously contemplated posting and offereing to do them for others for a small fee (especially seeing how much Disney is charging for this service - yikes). I have "stock" footage of icons, parades, shows, etc, so I don't have to tape each of them for every group. I figured I might get into trouble with copyrights or something, but since it's all personal footage and photos, I'm not sure where that lies. I know it's okay that I'm doing it for myself, and I would think it'd be okay to do for others considering the only service I'm being paid for is editing and burning content you already own. Any legal eagles out there care to weigh in?

Hi Jennifer :wave2:

We did get ours. It came very fast, in less than a week. It was actually shipped the day after we created it on line. The quality is very nice. The pictures are very clear, at least as clear as the pictures are that you submit. Our grandsons loved it! The "surprises" are very nice and really add to the movie. My only disappointment was that we had downloaded 120 pictures knowing that 68 would be used in the movie production and the rest of them would be used in a slideshow. The website stated that this was to be the case. When we received the DVD it only had the 68 pictures in the movie and the same pictures in a slideshow. (A nice slideshow at that). I called Disney on it and asked about the other pics that were supposed to be used and they stated that it was in BETA which by our conversation meant that it was still in a test mode of sorts.

Overall I  the DVD. We are planning on going to WDW again in March and will definitely look forward to creating a new movie. BTW, when creating the movie, use pictures that are close ups. The far away shots just aren't defined enough in the movie.

Good luck and have fun making those Disney memories!

Thank you for getting back with me! I'm getting all of our pics onto the computer now to see if it's something I want to do!

I am soooo excited to be able to take advantage of this when we go next year!!!!!

Well, I just ordered my copies! I also did express shipping, as it is a perfect Christmas gift.... I'll let you all know how it turns out!

I got it for my bf for a two year anniversary present and we both love it!...It gives you those Disney tingles when you watch it! Just to warn you though...I had the same problem as a previous poster mentioned...I uploaded between 80-90 photos so there would be extras in addition to the 68 that were in the movie....but when I watched it it was only the first 68 from the movie. I didnt bother to call bc the ones in the movie were my favorite ones anyway, but I guess that "up to 100 photos for the slide show" is not a sure thing. But I am looking forward to see how Disney develops it further! I hope it takes off, its a great idea!!

Before I left, the website did say what you and the other poster are saying, that there would be a 'bonus slideshow' of all the pics you uploaded. However, when I did my own last night, it said you could uplad up to 120 in the photo movie builder, but several places it said that there would be a slideshow of the pics used in your movie. I guess they changed it :confused3 Still VERY excited, though!

Hi!! I order a photomovie but I have sooooooo many picutes that I am also doing my own movie. Where did you get the "stock" pictures/videos/music?? I am especially interested in the music. Is there anyplace I can download it? Do you have yours posted somewhere so I can pull it down??? Thanks!!

There are stock houses that sell that stuff, but it's not official Disney stock (they don't license that for commercial use). I just have general shots I've taken around the parks, of the icons and such, video I've personally taken of parades, rides and shows, and CDs of music I've purchased at the parks. Using those to create my own personal DVDs (and copies for family) is fine under the fair use guidelines.

The tricky part comes when and if I were to decide to charge for my services. I still think the stills and video I've taken personally would be fine to use, but the music may very well not be. I think I could get around that by having the recipient purchase the music as well. In that case, I'd be doing the same thing I'm doing for myself (using your own personal content) but would just get paid for my editing and DVD creation services.
