1) I have converted this file to every format I can think of and burned it to a cd. I have two set top dvd players in my house and none of the formats work in either two players. I converted it to VCD, MGPEG (1&2) and HighMat WMA format. Again my DVD players will not read it. All the research I have done implies the player should read a CD. Am I doing something wrong??
2) Assuming a CD won't work and this has to be in a DVD format and assuming I find someone who has a DVD burner I can borrow, all I want to do is convert this existing file so it will play on the DVD. I don't want to have to recreate movie I did in movie maker. What steps do I take to burn the WMA file so it will play on a dvd?
Ok, you say you burned it to a cd - how are you burning that to a cd? I have a feeling you keep making data cd's - data cd's are what you can burn to so that you can back up the movie and erase it from your computer. It sounds like you are making them. If you're just dragging that content and burning it to a cd - that isn't a video that set top players can read. I bet it works in your computer by using the Windows Media Player right?
What software are you using? still moviemaker? or did you try something else? You need software that will output to a "vcd" - not just that format - it has to write it as a "vcd" - just burning an MPEG-1 won't do it. That's still a data disc. If you find someone who has a DVD burner, they probably either A. Have software that came with it for authroring DVD's - or B. Have upgraded to something else that they use for editing. All you need to do is give them one of your data cd's you've been creating and they can probably open it with their software by "exporting" the content. Then, they can burn from there to a DVD. Which they'll know how to do.
I hope that helps
