Disney's PhotoMovie

Thanks for the information. I have two follow up questions:

1) I have converted this file to every format I can think of and burned it to a cd. I have two set top dvd players in my house and none of the formats work in either two players. I converted it to VCD, MGPEG (1&2) and HighMat WMA format. Again my DVD players will not read it. All the research I have done implies the player should read a CD. Am I doing something wrong??

2) Assuming a CD won't work and this has to be in a DVD format and assuming I find someone who has a DVD burner I can borrow, all I want to do is convert this existing file so it will play on the DVD. I don't want to have to recreate movie I did in movie maker. What steps do I take to burn the WMA file so it will play on a dvd?

Ok, you say you burned it to a cd - how are you burning that to a cd? I have a feeling you keep making data cd's - data cd's are what you can burn to so that you can back up the movie and erase it from your computer. It sounds like you are making them. If you're just dragging that content and burning it to a cd - that isn't a video that set top players can read. I bet it works in your computer by using the Windows Media Player right?

What software are you using? still moviemaker? or did you try something else? You need software that will output to a "vcd" - not just that format - it has to write it as a "vcd" - just burning an MPEG-1 won't do it. That's still a data disc. If you find someone who has a DVD burner, they probably either A. Have software that came with it for authroring DVD's - or B. Have upgraded to something else that they use for editing. All you need to do is give them one of your data cd's you've been creating and they can probably open it with their software by "exporting" the content. Then, they can burn from there to a DVD. Which they'll know how to do.

I hope that helps :wizard:

You are absolutely right. I was burning data discs. I found a software that allows burning in VCD mode and that works fine although the audio is all choppy. But thanks for getting me on the right path!!

glad I could help. What software did you get for burning the VCD? The audio is choppy? hmm...how is the picture quality on your TV? *just curious*

Something you might not want to hear - but you could try to recreate the slideshow with this new software you downloaded (or purchased) - Something must have happend during the import process. Does it sound choppy after it's imported - can you preview it before the burn? Maybe you could just turn down the volume of the music completely in the timeline of the slideshow (if there's an editing area) and redo the music only - if you have good software, you can do that.

if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask

Thank you so much for your help I appreciate it. I had previously converted the wma file to mpeg using a different software. When I converted it again using this software (Blaze media which I dowloaded for 15 day free trial) it was fine. The sound is perfect. Unfortunately the VCD picture quality is not very good and for this, obviously the picture quality is most important. But I guess that is why VCD format is not all that popular.

Again thanks for all your help. Total moral victory getting it to work. I guess I could probably try tweaking some of the settings to get a more clear picture but I most likely will just have a friend burn it onto a DVD for me.

By the way, in case anyone else is following the thread...The Disney PhotoMovie is awesome!! I waited until Xmas to actually watch it with the family. Everyone loves it. Definitely worth the $$ although it would be nice if more pics could get in there...

I received my Disney Photomovie today. I just love it. We had so many Photo Pass pictures (about 100), and I was able to use all the ones I really wanted in my movie.
