Checking in tomorrow. Southwest boarding passes are printed and ready for our 615 am flight out of BWI. It's an early one, but it does get us to Disney in the morning. See ya soon CR!:cool1:
It's almost time to enjoy that beautiful view that johnsonet posted. I hope you'll check in with us when you get a chance.

I am debating switching to a tower room?!? what is the advantage?? I am just wondering if the longer walk to MK from the garden wing will lose what we wanted from the CR?!? are the rooms the same size?? is it worth upgrading to a tower room??
With a Tower room you are guaranteed a balcony and an unobstructed view. All STD rooms throughout CR are identical, other than the 2nd and 3rd floors of the GW do not have balconies. The difference in time in walking to the MK would only be about 5 minutes. But, the Tower views are amazing and it is more conveniently located - but not to the laundry room which is in the GW. The prices are also higher (but, we think it's worth it). Our favorite view is a a Tower BLV, like johnsonet has. In the Tower, we love stepping out of our room and looking down at the 4th floor concourse and out the huge window at the MK and monorail:cloud9:

Just got back from a 7 night stay that just ended on the 4th. Absolutely loved the CR and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Had a tower room on the 8th floor (room 4437), and the view of the fireworks each night was great. But the best part for us was just the convenience to walk to the Magic Kingdom each day whenever we liked. Just can't beat the convenience of that.

Had a car down in Disney for the first time ever and I must say, I think I'm a convert to that. It made getting to and from AK and DHS very easy, espeically on a night when we were in the DHS all day, came back to do dinner and the Hoop Dee Doo, and then drove back to DHS for a fastpass on the Aerosmith coaster.

My only complaint about the place was the small seating area in the Contempo Cafe - I had to circle the place a few times looking for a table for my family of 5 - and the maid service ran late into the afternoon. We spent one day in a park from opening to about 4PM, came back to the hotel, and the maid was only just getting to our room. We had to camp outside of the room and read books until she was finished. Seemed very late in the day to be getting to it.

But, as I said, absolutely fantastic time and based mostly on the convenience of the location of the CR - will certainly be back.
Thank you for posting your mini TR and I hope you get to book another trip soon.

We are here and it's a gorgeous day. So happy to be here!

Let me know if you have any questions or photo requests. Off to the MK!!
Great hearing from you and seeing my favorite view. I'm so glad you're finally there:hyper:. The BLV offers one great view after another: First the marina and pool area, then Bay Lake with WL in the background and even Epcot…Perfect!

See you real soon, chuckml :)
You too, trishadono.
Hi mickeynut1!!
WDWKOOK, I see why you love Bay Lake views. And little did I know we'd have an MK view as well, hehe. Right outside our door:

We had a wondrous first day. Looking forward to a second.

Walking back from MK last night:

EWP from our balcony. Loved hearing it and running out to see it

Sunrise

Hope these turn out - I can't preview my posts.

Oh- and to the person who asked about wine. I looked yesterday when I was in the little shop by Fantasia and the bottles seem to range from 12.95-$21.95.

Wanna be Ariel - enjoy the anticipation of your trip :)

Mousemommy1 - yes. Bay Lake view. No, we are not staying CL.

Johnsonet Love the pics!!! Especially the night one on the walk "home" from MK!

Don't you love to sit on the People Mover and see our resort in the back ground and think how lucky we are???:cloud9:

Have a great day:beach:

Thanks, trishadono. Yes, you're right! We are so lucky to be staying here. It's amazing how close you are to the MK here!

One more sunrise pic!

Good Morning :wave2:

Just wanted to share that we were able to switch from the King room on the 14th floor that I had originally booked over to an Atrium CL room :). And while I know know some may think I'm crazy for switching, I know I wouldn't have been happy with one of the two rooms and since they couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't get that particular room, the very nice manager I ended getting a phone call from agreed that I shouldn't leave it up to chance.

So...

Kook, could you add us to the list please? We'll now be staying in a Std. View Atrium CL room for one night, 10/18-10/19 before switching over to the YC CL. Can't wait to see the look on DH's face when he finds out we are finally staying at the one resort he's been wanting to try since our very first trip (and hoping to keep it from him until we actually check-in for ME at the airport :)). What a way to kick off our 29th wedding anniversary!!!

I think you might have convinced me to switch to a tower room!!! its only 3 nights so the difference won't be that much right? LOL….funny how we can convince ourselves of anything!

what is a good room request for lake view??

does anyone know if the CR was included in discounts last march??? fingers crossed we will get something!

Thanks I know what I booked but was hard to get it crossed to the IPO planners who insisted it was a request only. Called & still got same round around even had Disney Travel called. Still only request.

Finally I call back to travel Company (Disney) & explained again he said I getting the manager at the CR and tell them this. The woman I talked to said it is plain as the nose on your face that you paid & getting a 14th floor club level room with a king size bed. She said also it would be MK view as the Bay Lake view room were 2 queen beds. She asked if I a request for a room number which I told her & the reason why I would not take the other room. She said that was acceptable & she would see to it that I would get that room unless their were people in it that came in before we did. But if that was the problem she would assign me to a room on 12th floor and with a theme park view or not I could get a Bay lake view ( I am not against this since it is only one night.)

So now it is a waiting game. Travel company said I could use both lounges but you can't as according to her & IPO. Wasn't planning to anyhow. She said she thought te 14th floor lounge was less busy. Now the email I been getting from the planners have been very nice & said they are working on some magic so I get my room. I am still looking each day & calling every other day to see if anyone cancel. She said it is possible but maybe closer to the 45 days or up to 5 days.. I think they like to keep us on our toes lol
Maybe have cancel due to our Air Heat sytem died today & $$$$$$ to replace it. Just shoot myself :rotfl::rotfl:
But come high water I going in Sept I need a vacation with husband out of country. Happen every time he goes overseas something break and guess who get to stay from work & get it fixed >>ME :rotfl::rotfl::beach:pixiedust: WHY WHY ? lol

Hi Blue :wave2:

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with the room. I hope everything works out and you get exactly what you want :wizard:.

Also sorry about your heating system :(......I hope that doesn't cause you to have to cancel.

Glad you're having a great time. Your pics are making me even more excited to try the CR next year :goodvibes.

The CR is usually included in discounts, but sometimes the discount for tower rooms is lower (20%) than what is offered for the GW rooms (30%).

No, I haven't booked yet. My brother and SIL are planning to take my niece for her first trip next summer, so I'm waiting to book until we know for sure who is going :).

Congrats on getting the room you wanted :thumbsup2. Certain resorts/room types have to be booked far in advance as some tend to book up fast (which I have found to be the case with CR GW), so I'm glad one was available :wizard:.

johnsonet Thanks for checking in! and for posting those lovely pics...:goodvibes

I too am a long time fan of the Bay Lake view... :cloud9: Just beautiful..as is the CR all lit up at nite...

Its a Disney classic! :thumbsup2

 Hey MickeyNut I see that we are posting at the same time again!! lol...

thanks…I am going to wait for a bit to make any changes but am considering changing to a tower room?? I was going to rent points for a 1 bedroom at BLT but then I have to pay all at once and commit to dates and not sure I can do that right now…..thoughts??

do lots of people on here rent or do you book thru disney??

Yeah, that was our dilemma too. It would have been considerably less expensive to rent points, but then like you said we'd be locked in to those days, and if there's some sort of emergency and we can't go, we'd be out that money. So we decided to book through Disney using a AAA room only rate, which for our studio room (only two of us) was less than we'd have paid for our usual Bay Lake view CR Tower room, albeit the studio room is smaller than we'd normally have in the CR.

If anyone is staying CL can you post the two main hot items they serve each night?

I am tempted to rent points but I am too nervous about having to change our dates. We have elderly relatives and college kids and our plans often change last minute so I book through Disney so I can cancel up to 5 days before.
