Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Yeah, that was our dilemma too. It would have been considerably less expensive to rent points, but then like you said we'd be locked in to those days, and if there's some sort of emergency and we can't go, we'd be out that money. So we decided to book through Disney using a AAA room only rate, which for our studio room (only two of us) was less than we'd have paid for our usual Bay Lake view CR Tower room, albeit the studio room is smaller than we'd normally have in the CR.

Not necessarily. We went through Disney and ended up getting a discount that was much better than renting points would've been!

Love seeing all the pictures! We just got our "Incredible" vacation booklet for our reservation next summer. So far away...

thanks…I am going to wait for a bit to make any changes but am considering changing to a tower room?? I was going to rent points for a 1 bedroom at BLT but then I have to pay all at once and commit to dates and not sure I can do that right now…..thoughts??

do lots of people on here rent or do you book thru disney??

You could always wait to see if any discounts come out and maybe you could get a tower room for a good rate :).

We've never rented points as I don't want to be tied to dates with no ability to change, like the pp posted. I usually book the maximum number of nights for the time frame we are thinking and then modify as needed depending on flights, discounts, etc ;). Sometimes we just tweak our reservation by subtracting a night or two, but sometimes we change the dates altogether. With that said, we have friends that have rented points from the same person for the last 8 or 9 years and it has worked great for them, but it's not something that would work for us.

It's always exciting to get Disney mail no matter how far out your trip is :goodvibes. Next summer does seem far away, but it will be here before you know it ::yes::.

Amazing view! Can I ask what floor you are on?

I'm on an upper floor. I'll let you know room number once I get home. It's a great location! I will totally ask for it again.

Hi johnsonet :wave2:

Thanks for all of the great pics, love the one at night walking back from MK and the sunrise one :cloud9:. Love the MK view outside your door :thumbsup2.

Glad you're having a great time. Your pics are making me even more excited to try the CR next year :goodvibes.
...

Hey! Thank you and now more than ever I really do encourage you to come stay here. Your boys would surely love it :wizard:
Good luck with your Polynesian plans, too :hippie:

So fun! Enjoy your planning :cool1:

Cluelyss - I asked at the CR bus stop yesterday, and was told that buses for early dining start running "before 8" He said they really start coming through around 7:15/7:30. So don't worry about getting to the Polynesian (I think that's where you were going)!

Here are a few random pics from yesterday.

Johnsonet-great photos! Looks like we've been same places as you. At MK Thursday the started at DHS yesterday before we left for lunch at Epcot. Heading back to Epcot this morning. We're at ASSp still tonight. AoA tomorrow then BLT.:cool1:

Hearing about your stay and seeing all of your great pics is really getting me excited to try the CR :goodvibes. We are throwing around the idea of heading down for a short 3-4 night trip in May over Mother's Day weekend and CR is at the top of the list for that :thumbsup2.

Thanks about the Poly plans :).

Oh boy...we too booked aTower King Bed CL room for one night in October and after reading this, I went & did a little more searching and basically read that 4911 & 4912 (the two King rooms on the 14th fl) are the worst 2 rooms to get...ugh!!! For what I'm paying...umm, no thx! Going to be definitely switching.

Good that you did your research so you won't be disappointed. It never occurred to us that these rooms might be subpar, so I focused on the view only when booking. Had it not been for our very generous pin code, we would have been out of there in a flash. Have a great trip!

Hi There,

We arrive in Orlando around 11a and was planning on hitting MK after a quick bite at Contempo. Since we cannot check in to BLT until 4, I will get a 2, 3 and 4p FP+ and then plan on heading back to the CR.
Do you think we should make an early Chef Mickey ADR, like around 5p, and then check in to our room, or should we get a ressie closer to 6 check in to the room for a quick chillax and then head back out to CM. Wondering if that's a lot of unnecessary back and forth or if we should just plan on staying out and checking in to the room after CM.
THANKS!!:wave2::wave2::wave2:

Whether it is the 1st arrival or a split stay, our first trip to the room everybody wants to relax and hang around and then nobody wants to go back out.
I would try to guess whether your group will be able to be shoved back out to get to dinner, in which case I would go to the room first. If we ate and went to the room right after we would end up "in for the night." With my kids I would not let them go up to the room until we are done with whatever we want to do for the day.

You can check in as early as 6 am on your check in day. The only thing is that your room might not be ready by the time you check in, but they can text you when your room is ready. Have a great trip! pixiedust:

I haven't been on disboards for a couple of years but am now planning the next trip. Looking at staying at CR. Just wanted to check if there are any refurbs coming up during 2015 at CR. Anyone know?:confused3

Just found out we will be staying at the Contemporary in December! Now to not spill the beans to the kids too early....

I haven't heard of any CR refurbs for next year :confused3.

How exciting :yay:. Good luck keeping the secret.

johnsonet ~ Hope you had a great time at the CR and enjoy AKL tomorrow :goodvibes.

I am interested in staying in BLT again Sept 2015, but villas don't seem to be available yet on the Disney site. Does anyone know when this time frame will be released?

I believe that rates for DVC resorts won't be available until 11 months before the date that you want to go. I'm also looking into staying at BLT in December 2015 with my family, but was told that I would have to wait until January 2015 for the rates. Since you're looking at September 2015, It probably won't be out until October 2014.
