Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

I believe that rates for DVC resorts won't be available until 11 months before the date that you want to go. I'm also looking into staying at BLT in December 2015 with my family, but was told that I would have to wait until January 2015 for the rates. Since you're looking at September 2015, It probably won't be out until October 2014.

Thanks for the info!

See you real soon, chuckml :)
You too, trishadono.
Hi mickeynut1!!
WDWKOOK, I see why you love Bay Lake views. And little did I know we'd have an MK view as well, hehe. Right outside our door:

Hope these turn out - I can't preview my posts.

Oh- and to the person who asked about wine. I looked yesterday when I was in the little shop by Fantasia and the bottles seem to range from 12.95-$21.95.
We've loved seeing your photos and updates. I'm glad to hear you love your room location and you don't feel it's too close to BLT? Thank you also for posting the wine prices for the person who asked.

Johnsonet Love the pics!!! Especially the night one on the walk "home" from MK!

Don't you love to sit on the People Mover and see our resort in the back ground and think how lucky we are???:cloud9:

Have a great day:beach:
HA! You are so right, Trisha! When I'm not staying at CR, I always get sad when I'm on the train and I look off to the left and see CR. I always tell my family, "Oh, look! It's CR (not breaking news), but, we're not staying there…" And they always tell me I can stay there next time and sometimes we walk over from MK and take the Blue Flag back to WL.

Good Morning :wave2:

Just wanted to share that we were able to switch from the King room on the 14th floor that I had originally booked over to an Atrium CL room :). And while I know know some may think I'm crazy for switching, I know I wouldn't have been happy with one of the two rooms and since they couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't get that particular room, the very nice manager I ended getting a phone call from agreed that I shouldn't leave it up to chance.

So...

Kook, could you add us to the list please? We'll now be staying in a Std. View Atrium CL room for one night, 10/18-10/19 before switching over to the YC CL. Can't wait to see the look on DH's face when he finds out we are finally staying at the one resort he's been wanting to try since our very first trip (and hoping to keep it from him until we actually check-in for ME at the airport :)). What a way to kick off our 29th wedding anniversary!!!
I'll add you and at least now you've saved some money and have your guaranteed BLV. What a great surprise anniversary you're going to have. Where does DH think he's staying that one night? Just in case he doesn't want to move to YC, (yes, I may have some personal experience with this phenomenon:rolleyes1), you can always go down and speak to a Guest Services Manager and explain how much DH loves CR and doesn't want to change to YC. If there's availability, they'll make it happen - been there, done that:thumbsup2

I think you might have convinced me to switch to a tower room!!! its only 3 nights so the difference won't be that much right? LOL….funny how we can convince ourselves of anything!

what is a good room request for lake view??

does anyone know if the CR was included in discounts last march??? fingers crossed we will get something!
Pretty much all room categories/DVC are available to some extent with public discounts, with the exception of suites and Grand Villas - those are harder to apply larger discounts to.

If you aren't afraid of heights, the higher floors have more commanding views and some prefer a room away from CM. Johnsonet has a room that's far from CM, near BLT and the marina.

Chiming in......:rolleyes1

LOVE LOVE LOVE that view!!!:thumbsup2!!! AND also when ur on Splash Mountain when you first get to the higher level......ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT!! :lovestruc:lovestruc. WHAT A VIEW!!!!:lovestruc pixiedust:
Well, welcome back, stranger!

If anyone is staying CL can you post the two main hot items they serve each night?
The hot appetizers change every night. There should be one or two different hot apps. 7 days/week. I don't know what the current rotation is. There are CL menus, but they are never posted and you have to ask to see them. I only have them for WL and each resort serves different items between 5-7. I think I have some photos from last year in the CL section.

I am tempted to rent points but I am too nervous about having to change our dates. We have elderly relatives and college kids and our plans often change last minute so I book through Disney so I can cancel up to 5 days before.
We always book with the military 40% off, but there are also very good general public/AP/FL Res… rates available. I, too have to be able to make changes with impunity and fully control the reservation.

Also, is there somewhere to view the fireworks from a non-DVC BLT lake view?
Do you mean from a villa? There are some Outer North Side villas that if you look to the left from you can see some of Wishes/MK. The BLT ROOM VIEW thread is the best source for specific room numbers/views.

I haven't been on disboards for a couple of years but am now planning the next trip. Looking at staying at CR. Just wanted to check if there are any refurbs coming up during 2015 at CR. Anyone know?:confused3
Welcome back to the DIS and the CR/BLT thread.

All the rooms and suites were recently rehabbed so that would not be done again for many years. There is always ongoing resort repairs/work being done, but I'm not aware of anything major. I do check the permits every once in a while and I don't recall anything major coming up this year at CR, but that could change. The permits usually aren't filed until about 30-90 days out so I don't know about next year. I can assume though that fencing will be installed around the feature pool fairly soon. This will happen at all the resort pools that have lifeguards.

Just found out we will be staying at the Contemporary in December! Now to not spill the beans to the kids too early....
It's never too early to start anticipating a trip to WDW! Happy bean spilling and let us know how they took the GREAT news:yay:

Hi all, new to the DIS Boards. Had a couple of questions about the Contemporary:

My fiancee and I have booked our honeymoon trip for May 31 - June 7, 2015. We will be staying at the Contemporary, Garden View. I know it's not the prettiest of views there, but I couldn't afford a Tower view. My questions are:

1. The pictures of the room are what sold us on the CR. Are the rooms (interior) the same for both the Tower Views and Garden Views?

2. Is it a hassle to get from the Garden View area to the main part of the CR with the restaurants, gift shop and such?

3. How are the water sports/activities there?

Thanks for any and all help.

DH thinks we are staying at Coronado for the first night because that's one of the only places I could get with my BB discount when we decided to extend by one night. So glad I decided to keep trying :). He really is going to be shocked when he finally figures it out! And if he ends up loving it...I could sooo see him trying to stay :upsidedow.

I was trying to super-organize my ADRs. For ex if they are serving beef skewers as an app, I don't want to book my steak night for that night. Maybe I plan too much!

There is one night they have apps my kids don't won't like and that will be our GG night (AYCTE!)

I agree :goodvibes.

I think you'll have a great honeymoon at the CR :wizard:. I can help with 2 of your questions:

1. Yes, both the GW rooms and the tower rooms are the same :).

2. The GW is convenient to the tower as it takes just a few minutes to walk from there to the shops, restaurants, monorail, etc. ;).

3. We've never stayed at the CR so I can't comment on the water sports, but hopefully someone else will be able to give input on that :flower3:.

What a great surprise for your DH :goodvibes.

My kids are going to be excited and spoiled. We did two quick days at Disneyland in May, so two trips in a year! And I am super spoiled since I am running the Star Wars half in January!
I think I will tell them by having them plan our FP+ with me. I am excited to try that system and use magic bands. They weren't available last trip.
Can't wait to stay at the contemporary. I think it'll be amazing to be so close to MK! My DD is majorly princess obsessed at 3 years old, and just last night was upset she hadn't met Belle on our last trip.

Make sure you take DD to do Enchanted Tales with Belle then!!! What a great princess interaction!!'

Here is a night pic from room 4845 last night.
(Moon and stars on castle)

This morning,

They have a new thing where you can text to concierge. This morning at 7am I requested a late check out for tomorrow. Easy peasy I get a text back a few minutes later that they will check, then shortly after it was confirmed.

So much easier to do from your room vs waiting for a turn at the desk:thumbsup2

trishadono - You're staying at the Atrium CL right? How has the service been over there? I read on another thread that CL service at all of the Deluxe resorts have drastically been going downhill. I'm just wondering what I should expect when I go in Dec.

For me the desserts are not the same. They are good but before were incredible. The exception being GF's tea time! The stuff is the same as what you get at The Garden Tea Room.

I have stayed at poly, cr and gf a few times each but only since 2011. I don't know what they did before. I do know that if you ask and they can, they will.

Examples. Ask for milk, wine anytime. Asked for a way to carry my wine out to hospitality suite (garden) and they gave me a whole bottle. Asked if cereal available at 9pm he checked and had 2 available and gave me milk, bowl, and spoon.

I must like it however because I keep coming back!!!!
Awesome, thanks for the photos! We will be staying on Atrium level with TPV. :woohoo:
When doing online check in, check the box for odd numbered room or call CRO/email IPO.

Dd loved watching wishes tucked in her bed with dessert last night. Even 19 yr olds like to feel like The Princess of The Castleprincess:

This is still confusing me.

When we booked our room, we paid more money to ensure that we would have a theme park view.

Do I still have to request it on top of that? Why would they charge me more money for the view and then not give it to me?

My reservation on MDE says "Room Type: Theme Park View - Atrium Club Level"

Am I worrying too much? :crazy2:

The odd-numbered room will have you lying in bed, looking at the castle. Even-numbered room face away from the castle. You will still have a TPV!

77 pages is a bit daunting, so forgive me if this has been asked. What kind of coffee machine is in the 2BR Bay Lake View room? Ordering from gardengrocer and wasn't sure if it was pods or regular grinds.
