Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

There were definitely programs in June this year and last year. The timing was different this year compared to June of 2010. I have dates for both year and what classs were offered printed out. I just don't have access to it at the moment since I am at work.

I had been watching and comparing dates and offerings since we plan to go in June 2012. Based on how June 2010 and 2011 compare, I am not sure what week to book a condo this far in advance. My kids will be entering their sophomore and senior year in August 2012. We hope to do the Leadership Excellence-Inside Track class. It was offered for open enrollment in 2010 but not 2011.

Can a 2/12 yr old brother tag along on the nemo class?

Bummer that the class is closed, but for future reference, your whole family can get the discounted tickets if one child is attending the program! Of course, if under 13 y/o, a parent will be attending too. I was so excited to find out about the YES individual enrollment program, it saved us about $700, almost 1/2 of going through the regular site for tickets, plus we wouldn't have done the water parks & more add-on, but since it was so affordable, why not?! My kids are really excited about DQ & the water parks, we've never done them before. Enjoy your trip and check out YES for the next one!

We got in! I checked this morning and they had opened a new class for our week. I'm SOOOO excited! My dd will be really excited. And of course we're so happy as a family of 5 to save so much money. We were able to do the water park tickets too which we would not have otherwise be able to do! The class sounds so interesting. What an assume opportunity!

So excited! I kept checking dates for October and they finally added Wild By Nature on Oct. 11!!!!! Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!
I booked it for my older 2 kids as a surprise and bought 4 day park tix. for the 5 of us. I can't wait to surprise them...they have no idea we are going to the parks. They think we are just haning out at the pool house and going to the beach.

Yay! Same for us except we're going the following week. Have you ever done this before? This is our first time doing the YES program.

We did this last year and it was GREAT! I have not read all 200 pages but I think I saw that they will not be having any classes (individual enrollment) in December. Did anyone confirm this? And has anyone put together a group? Thanks!:flower3:

I would love to do this with my DD6 on out next trip - does anyone know how far in advance they post classes? We would be doing individual enrollment... We are planning (tentatively at this point) to go around 1/21/12. :confused3 so far it looks to me like there are not any classes listed past October?

Also, how strict is Disney about the age for the class? My daughter will still be 6 when we go (turns 7 in April) and I know she would LOVE the Nature class.

TIA!

I'm impressed with your trip totals in your signature. I thought I was frugal. I don't know how you did a whole Disney trip under $1k!

Thanks! We drove, had a few days left on out no exp. park passes from a previous trip, got a $199 a week rental at Windsor Hills and ate mostly at the condo for that trip!:goodvibes

Glad to hear you got in 100AcreWood!

I'm now trying to change our class since they opened the Oct 7th Animation Class up for everyone, which I only saw because your post mentioned that classes were added, so thanks!

:disrocks:

ETA: We got into the Animation Class that we wanted! Dave rocks!

My teenage daughter and I went to this. She said she didn't regret getting up early in the morning to go!:thumbsup2 We rode Spaceship Earth and then the instructor discussed angles, light and composition. Then we went over to the Imagination Pavilion and they learned about: decisive moment, reaction, silouette, cropping, side lightning, rule of thirds, leading lines, framing, birds eye view, worms eye view, and candid shot. They had to take pictures to demonstrate these terms. Then we headed over to the International Gateway and they had to pretend to be a photojournalist. Then we headed over to China to take pictures and apply captions. It was a great class and worth the savings you get on the tickets! We will sign up for another class next year.:banana::cheer2:

Has anyone registered a preschool aged child for this program? We'd like to participate in the Homeschool Days but our oldest will only be 4 this fall. The required class says "all ages". We are a homeschooling family, just at the very start of it all. :)

Regards,
C.

We got into the Animation class too....so excited!! :yay:

We are planning to do YES in October as a family. Am I reading correctly that each group of students (which would be our two kids) can have only 1 chaperone? So my husband or I one would have to sit out? If that is the case, is there a way around that? To book one parent and one kid as a "group" and then the other pair?

Thanks.

I don't think a 4 year old would get much from the program.

For individual enrollment classes, one adult per child can attend the class. So if you have 2 children in the same class, both you and your husband can attend. When you go through the online registration, you will list all members in your party on one screen and then on another screen you will check all members attending classes. Be sure that you check all 4 boxes.

I'm sure this has been answered before, so please accept my apology re: duplication. But I've been through many of the pages and have not found the exact answer.

We have a family of 7 going in January (mom, dad, ds20, ds19, ds17, ds13, ds10), and are hoping that the three under 18 will be able to attend a YES individual enrollment class. The older 2 also want to go - and are willing to be there as the "adult" for their brothers who are actually enrolled.

The three boys attending have very different interests and will likely want to attend different classes. In January 2011, it looks like many of the classes were scheduled on the same day (Tuesday). If I have 3 kids attending 3 different classes, will I need to register them seperately on the Disney website? Or can I register a specific child for a specific class all under one family registration?

Also, can I register 4 adults and 3 children under one registration or only 3 adults and 3 children?

Thank you!
