Also in case no one else has described the class Everyday Chemistry (ages 9-15 I beleive), here is a summary on it. We met at 8:45 by the Will Call at Epcot, my son is 9 and daughter 12. There were SEVERAL groups being formed as we walked up. The lady with the master roll list got our names, looked around at the groups and put us with Perry's group that ended up having about 13 kids who were mostly around my daughter's age. Perry is from New Orleans and a very fun guy to meet. He has minors in engineering, math, and theater (also told us that in addition to teaching YES classes he performs at HS Beauty and Beast). After getting our name tags, Perry did an intro to Chemistry with kids with an experiment to introduce polymers. All his equipment was kept in his bookbag, and all the experiments were outside just in case anyone was mistaken like I was and thought they would be inside (my son was expecting a lab for chemistry so he was a little disappointed). However the experiments were good and Perry enthusiastically encouraged the kids to respond to his answers without worrying about if they were wrong, to think outside the box if you will. Anyway, after the first experiment and discussion we all went through Epcot ticket gate together and got lots of smiles from the folks working the gate wishing us a fun learning time. We did another experiment and then rode Ellen's Energy Ride (not sure of official ride name) and it is a 40 min ride/movie if you have never been to that attraction. Very interesting though and on a hot day nice to get air conditioning. We did stop 2 times for a bathroom break too. After riding Energy ride was the 2nd bathroom break and we were beside Test Track so daughter couldn't resist slipping over to get a fast pass (she was back in 2 min, well before the group was finished as there was no line to wait in and a couple of other kids slipped over too and were back in plenty of time) and then we did a good bit more of experiments and discussions in the corner area near Test Track. It was HOT so bring water. And guess what? After learning about tire experiments, won't get into it to much to ruin a surprise lesson from the class, we all got to ride Test Track. Perry took us through the fast pass line, said he was our human fast pass, and we got on the ride in 5 min. After the ride we met him by the photos of Test Track to laugh at each other and then went outside. It was about 11:45 by this time and HOT!!! We stopped by the coke mister where they have tables and did a wrap-up of the days learning and were done in about 10 min, so finished exactly at 11:55 for a day of fun at Epcot if you want. I know this summary jumped around but this is general idea of what to expect. VERY age-appropriate class and Perry did a great job of using scientific terms to explain lessons and findings which I really appreciated.
