A couple of questions....I called and they said they don't offer individual enrollment for April or May but failed to ask if you can still do it then if a class is put together It says it's offered year round so I don't know. Secondly, is anyone putting together a class for 4-28-5-2? I am interested if they are.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!! This is one of two classes we're considering for June and I was leaning towards this one due to AK having lower crowds on this particular day. Would you be so kind to give a brief overview? I think my main questions are around being in the sun or outside the entire time or were there times you went indoors and/or in shade? Going in June obviously makes it a little warm but we'd choose a morning class for sure! :thumbsup2

It also sounds like there were three of you and I wanted to know how this worked and if you had any issues. I read that it was one chaperone per child and since we only have one child we were worried one of us would have to stay back at the resort. When I called the YES office she said it wouldn't be a problem for us all three to go but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks in advance! :flower3:

We participated in the morning class, which for us was perfect. The program began around 8:30am and ended at 11:15am. The program is 100% outside with the only shade coming from the plants and trees along the trails. It is definitely alot of walking with brief stops to look at the animals and answer questions. The instructors provide each participant with a radio and headset so you can hear them without having to walk directly beside or behind them.

Marie and Mandi really made the program fun. They told jokes and played around alot together and with the kids. Participation is really required in order for you to get the full benefit from the program. Little tip: if your leader does something, you should do the same, such as, if they drink from the water fountain, you should too. (Not to give alot away, but it has to do with the program)

Our group only included us and one other family, so it was a very small group - a total of 7 people all together not including the two instructors. The program participants are provided with the headsets. However, my husband walked with us because there really was no reason why he couldn't. (We didn't go anywhere that the rest of the vacationers couldn't go) So I would say the whole family could probably walk together, just you might not all receive a headset and radio. But because the group was so small, we could hear our instructors without really needing the radio, in fact my didn't work half of the time. A tip: don't point out to the instructors that you have an extra adult and it should be no problem. They really are not supposed to allow an additional chaperone. But I really feel this is only an issue if the group is large and you are wanting to have the additional parent participate instead of just walking with you.

I hope that helps. We loved the program and can't wait to do another one.

Heather

I thought I responded yesterday to this, but I don't see it...:confused3
Yes - this helps a lot! Thanks a lot for the detailed information! :flower3:

I tried to sign my daughter up for the physics and animation classes the week of February 20th, and was not able to do so, because there wasn't enough interest in enrollment, so now I'm trying to find 13 other people who would like to do those classes, in hopes that perhaps we can get enough DIS'ers to have a DIS class.

Is there anybody else who'd like to try? We'll be there from 2/21 to 2/25.

We will be there Feb 16-22nd and would love to do a class, I was so disappointed that there are not any classes at that time. I have a 6yr old (almost 7). Please let me know if there is any other interest in these dates.

There's a lot of interest (in fact, I think we're now only short 1), but the minimum age is 8, I'm afraid :(

Queenbee- we are leaving on the 29th- but would love to join if you can arrange it for the 28th! We have 2 girls 9 and 11

Dont you think other people beside dis board members will sign up? I sure hope so feb 14th is my daughter birthday and she is looking very forward to our special morning together.

I would think other people will sign up, too. If we have four participants here in a relatively small group (compared with the numbers of people overall who go to WDW), then we should be set!

Oooohh! I haven't check this thread for awhile. I am soooo happy to see that other Disers will be with us on 2/14 in the MK. We will be bringing 5 kiddos with us and cannot wait! The kids are not thrilled that we are meeting at 7:15am but, they are soooo excited.

Is there a post on this thread somewhere that lists the prices for tix. when you buy them through the YES program? I'd like to get a general idea of what the cost is so I can budgte for them. Thanks!

You can do individual enrollment certain times of year for one or more kids. Right now they are having classes for January, February, but there are classes for June, July and August as well. They AREN'T registering for those yet, but you can see what they have through the links in previous threads.

Unfortunately, these classes are often cancelled due to low enrollment (trust me--I have a SERIOUSLY bummed-out teenager about the physics class). However, what we usually do is try to "band together" and set up a class--we are, right now, one short for the Animation class Feb 21st, and I am looking high and low for our last person. (Made much more difficult by the fact that my mobility scooter just sputtered and died. :scared1:)

If they cancel the class, you still get to keep the discounted tickets though:banana: I imagine with the money you save, you could book an awesome behind the scenes tours.

We will be visiting and scheduled programs don't begin until June 14 for individuals. I have 15 year old and 11 year old. Please PM if anyone already has room in a group or wants to form a group.

we are going May 25th thru June 3. My children are 15, 14, 14, 13, 10 (if their grades all hold up, they are my stepchildren, and their Moms won't let them go if they don't have good grades). Have they traditionally had individual enrollment during this time. I know the individual enrollment in June starts on the 14, but will they open anything up sooner than that, or later in May?

Thanks in advance
