I was just curious if anyone here was signing up their child(ren) for the February 14 "How Things Move" class. I just signed up by 5 year old and my 7 year old. :goodvibes

The receipt says the class may be canceled if less than 10 children register for the class. Has anyone had experience with this? If the class gets canceled, can we still get the YES discounted tickets? TIA!

.
They would try to find a new class that fit your schedule. Even if they couldn't, you would still get to use the tickets.

We just came back from our first YES trip and it was wonderful. Mandi and Marie were wonderful instructors for the Wild By Nature program in Animal Kingdom. My son, my husband and myself loved this program. Marie and Mandi just made it so fun and entertaining. I would love to take another class especially with those two as instructors.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!! This is one of two classes we're considering for June and I was leaning towards this one due to AK having lower crowds on this particular day. Would you be so kind to give a brief overview? I think my main questions are around being in the sun or outside the entire time or were there times you went indoors and/or in shade? Going in June obviously makes it a little warm but we'd choose a morning class for sure! :thumbsup2

It also sounds like there were three of you and I wanted to know how this worked and if you had any issues. I read that it was one chaperone per child and since we only have one child we were worried one of us would have to stay back at the resort. When I called the YES office she said it wouldn't be a problem for us all three to go but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks in advance! :flower3:

Can you tell me what the valid dates on your tickets are? I have read that they're valid 7 days before and 7 days after the class date. HOWEVER, 3 of our kids did a class in March on 3/15 and the tickets said valid 03/06 to 03/26. (It said the class date was 03/16, but that's not correct, but this basically means they were valid 10 days before and 10 days after the class.) i'm wondering because we will be at WDW starting 06/05. Current departure is 06/10 and I'm trying to put together a group for that time. BUT if I can't get a group of 10 together, there is open enrollment with classes on 06/14, so we could possibly extend our stay until 06/14. But we would need to be able to use the tickets starting 06/05. If it's 10 days before and 10 days after, then that would work. But 7 days wouldn't.
Which class are you considering enrolling in? I'm looking at the morning class of Wild by Nature on June 14 for my then 15 y.o. niece and 12 y.o. nephew. Thanks!

Sorry - but I am SO confused!!!:confused3

Right now all I see "open" are dates from January & February. Right?

There is a date right on DD's b-day in August that I would like to sign her up for, but in filling the form online out it only gave me options for the 1st 2 months of the year.

When do new months open up?

Thanks!

Same for me. I tried to sign up for August 1 and couldn't. :confused3

Last year, summer open enrollment was not open for registration until the winter classes were over(or close to over). Now is a good time to look over the programs and decide which you want to do. Keep checking this thread and I am sure someone will post as soon as registration is open.

I'm curious does anyone know when they will release the dates for october? Also do I just buy my 3 kids their tix. through the program and then mine and dh's separetley?

My family will be there in October as well. We will be there October 8 - 16th. My son will be 10 and would love to be in one of the programs. If you start up a group keep me in mind.

We signed up last week and am so excited!! The savings in our park hopper ticket alone is fantastic and if the program is as wonderful as everyone says, this is one AWESOME program!!

I was so hesitant that I finally called them myself and after speaking to them, I signed my kids up for TWO classes!! They helped me get the tickets for our entire stay and the tickets for my parents that are staying with us for a portion of our time there.

Definitely call them if you have any questions. It does seem like it's too good to be true, but it all worked out fabulously in the end!!

Was the second class extra? My oldest has two classes we're hoping to get in when open enrollment rolls around for August. I am a wee bit concerned about the heat at the Animal Kingdom nature tour though. Definately hope it turns out to be a morning class. :)

If I understand it correctly, each class technically costs $26 per person. So if you are buying tickets for 5 people, and three kids are attending the class, you are paying an additional $26 for the two people NOT attending the class. But the costs of the normal park hopper tickets were WAY more than what I paid, even when adding in the costs of the class.

So if you take two classes, you pay an additional $26 per class, per child.

(The prices that they quote you for the park tickets INCLUDES one class fee. It wasn't until I saw my bill that I realized that I was paying that "additional" $26 per ticket, even for those not attending the classes. But it seriously doesn't matter because the cost of the ticket is so much cheaper anyways.)

You can't sign up for August because the registration is not open yet;). No need to start your own class if there is one listed that interests you. Give it a few weeks; they are still doing the Winter classes.

I'm looking at that same date in Florida. Which class are you looking to get into and how many kids do you have? I have four (7, 7, 10,12).

2 kids (12, 10) for the Ocean Discoveries class in Epcot.

oh, that makes me feel better... thank you!

to DaPakers- see you there!

My kids are interested in this one. What ages/grade levels were the program participants?

The Wild By Nature class involves children ages 7-15. However, the YES program does their best to group the children fairly close in age. Our group included one other family with two children, both close in age, maybe 9 and 11.

We participated in the morning class, which for us was perfect. The program began around 8:30am and ended at 11:15am. The program is 100% outside with the only shade coming from the plants and trees along the trails. It is definitely alot of walking with brief stops to look at the animals and answer questions. The instructors provide each participant with a radio and headset so you can hear them without having to walk directly beside or behind them.

Marie and Mandi really made the program fun. They told jokes and played around alot together and with the kids. Participation is really required in order for you to get the full benefit from the program. Little tip: if your leader does something, you should do the same, such as, if they drink from the water fountain, you should too. (Not to give alot away, but it has to do with the program)

Our group only included us and one other family, so it was a very small group - a total of 7 people all together not including the two instructors. The program participants are provided with the headsets. However, my husband walked with us because there really was no reason why he couldn't. (We didn't go anywhere that the rest of the vacationers couldn't go) So I would say the whole family could probably walk together, just you might not all receive a headset and radio. But because the group was so small, we could hear our instructors without really needing the radio, in fact my didn't work half of the time. A tip: don't point out to the instructors that you have an extra adult and it should be no problem. They really are not supposed to allow an additional chaperone. But I really feel this is only an issue if the group is large and you are wanting to have the additional parent participate instead of just walking with you.

I hope that helps. We loved the program and can't wait to do another one.

The individual animation and physics classes for presidents week in Disneyland were cancelled. But there is a group on the DIS looking to resurrect it (and it looks very close). PM me if interested or goto the DL threads.
