Disney World Boycott?

Boycotting Disney or Florida isn't going to change a thing.
But I hope they keep boycotting until 2015 if it means that the lines will be shorter :lmao:

I didn't create this post with the intention to cause any arguments for either side.

I apologize for not having thinking about the arguments it could cause before I posted.

It was more a question to others abut whether they have heard the same.

And if so, when the people were cancelling so I could possibly extend my stay!

Let em boycott, more room for the rest of us to go and visit!!

If someone comes up to me and starts bullying why should I have to retreat? If everyone runs from a bully all you're doing is showing them that its ok to do so. I possess a concealed carry permit that is good in about 40 states, I am a law abiding citizen and should have the right to defend myself and my family if that were to ever occur. I shouldn't have to run from a threat if I can stop it and if that ever occurs all I'm going to say is that I won't run, I will use deadly force to eliminate said threat.

Amen.

Now about that ridiculous boycott...please, all those whose media brainwashed minds think a boycott makes sense, start now! Hopefully, when we arrive in the beautiful state of Florida, you will be "occupying" a sidewalk far, far away. Just please, for the sake of anyone walking by, find a toilet when nature calls and not a bush or tree in the middle of a public area. Have fun!!!

How did I not know my state was being boycotted???! I guess that means it didn't work. ;)

Boycotting the State of Florida?? I kind of love this! Who comes up with these ridiculous ideas?

Like I posted before, Trayvon's parents live in Florida. If this boycott is about justice for him and getting SYG overturned, where do they fit in?

I'm curious to know where all of these singers live. 30+ states have some form of SYG, Castle Doctrine, etc. Do theses yo yos even know the law in the states where the reside?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_doctrine

These are the only states with no form of SYG/Castle Doctrine and as anyone can see, some of those have exceptions:

District of Columbia
Nebraska - a bill was introduced in January 2012 that allowed deadly force against a person who broke into a house or occupied vehicle or who tried to kidnap someone from a house or vehicle, however the bill was revised to include only an affirmative defense from lawsuits pertaining to justifiable use of force.

States with weak or no specific Castle Law:
New Mexico
New York - Allows for the use of "reasonable force" in self-defense against Home Invasion.
South Dakota "Homicide is justifiable if committed by any person while resisting any attempt to murder such person, or to commit any felony upon him or her, or upon or in any dwelling house in which such person is." SD Codified Laws 22-16-34 (2005).
Vermont

In my opinion, I really don't care. If I want to go somewhere, (especially WDW) I will go there unless there is some major health/safety issue there. (Ex: Malaria, Food poisoning, etc). Some court ruling is NOT going to ruin my WDW vacation. On the other hand, It's less busy! No more FPs necessary.

:thumbsup2

Boycott away! It won't even make a dent in the crowds this time of year.

:thumbsup2

Florida did their job, the jury did their job, but for some people that is not good enough. He was found not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, but there are some who do not believe the trial ended right. So someone has to be punished and everyone in the state must be held accountable.

:thumbsup2

They're 'barking up the wrong tree' if they think people will boycott Disney! :confused3 Sure won't make my plans change, and I don't think it will even cross the minds of many others that have plans to go.

Probably the only ones that will boycott are the ones that had no plans to go there anyway! :rolleyes1

New Black Panthers Use Zimmerman Bounty For Trip To Disney World

http://www.thedailyrash.com/new-black-panthers-use-bounty-money-for-trip-to-disney-world

This was written on April 11, 2012. Guess they got their trip in so it doesn't matter if nobody else goes. ;)

All the people that are going to do this you can still go to Disneyland.

California's law allows pursuit of someone you feel has threatened you.

http://blogs.kqed.org/newsfix/2013/07/22/5-things-to-know-about-stand-your-ground-in-california/

"A defendant is not required to retreat. He or she is entitled to stand his or her ground and defend himself or herself and, if reasonably necessary, to pursue an assailant until the danger of (death/great bodily injury/<insert forcible and atrocious crime>) has passed. This is so even if safety could have been achieved by retreating."

So in California, not only could you stay and fight, you can even chase your attacker if it will neutralize the threat to your life.

The whole case was silly, anyway. I don't understand why they even brought charges against him in the first place? They didn't have a case against him.

I do hope they boycott though, make the lines less long for us! But then again, the people who are "boycotting" Disney probably weren't going there anyway!! :lmao:

Trayvon was at the house where his father was staying.
He left and went back up the sidewalk to confront GZ.
SYG was not used in Zimmerman's case. The lawyers used self defense which every state and most countries in the world recognize.
The jury found Zimmerman not guilty.

SYG is a variation of self defense and 30+ states have a form of it as either SYG, the Castle Doctrine, etc. In some states, like California, it's legal to pursue the person you feel threatened you.

Basically this law is in place because in some instances, someone broke into a house and threatened or caused harm the homeowner.
The homeowner defended themselves and either hurt or killed the criminal.
The criminal or the criminal's family sued the homeowner.
The law is to prevent things like this from happening.

You missed the part where Zimmerman followed and perused Trayvon.

boycotting Florida makes NO sense whatsoever in relation to the Zimmerman trial... first off, the case was handled in a court of law and a panel of jurors... it just so happens the courthouse was in Florida. Florida tried to throw everything they could at him but there just wasn't enough evidence beyond a reasonable doubt whether we like the outcome or not... the justice system did what it was supposed to do. I didn't like the verdict in the Casey Anthony or OJ trial either, but the court system did was it was designed to do... if you can't prove it beyond a reasonable doubt...it's over.

A lot of people (including the horrible media these days) is forgetting the stand your ground law (that many people are protesting and boycotting for), wasn't even used as a defense in this case at all.... so again, none of this makes sense

if they want to boycott Florida and stop coming to Disney let 'em... shorter lines for us lol

This is about getting the SYG over turned not changing the verdict. George Zimmerman got away with pursue and killing a child because of a law on the books in Florida. Hurting a major tax payer in Florida would cause that tax payer to put pressure on the Florida government to change the law. How do you think has control over our government? It isn't the voters, it is the corporations and wealthy people who can buy their politicians.

I have considered canceling my trip. I don't know how safe I feel having my child in a state that allows a grown man to pursue and kill a child. We have decided not to cancel our trip at this point but I have thought long and hard about it. A child was murdered and the murder was protected by a law, that isn't something that sits well with me. That is something that scares me and makes me very sad.

Can we start small? Lets say a boycot of Toy story mania? Please, I really don't want to face a 70+ minute wait today. ~ok?

The whole case was silly, anyway. I don't understand why they even brought charges against him in the first place? They didn't have a case against him.
:
Charges were brought bc the state wanted to reduce the possibility of racial tension with the state.

Local said "no need for charges"
State says "screw that, arrest him, and if the jury decides not guilty then at least we can say its on them and we did what we could, don't blame us and don't riot".

Add to that the sensationalist media who ran with this and made a local tragedy, a universal story. Not to minimize a life, but these and worse happen all the time. And the media may report on some of these...the event....when was the last time you saw it to the trial?

There is opportunity to be had in dividing us

There is a classic saying in gov't "don't let a good tragedy go to waste"
