Disney Wonder - Galveston to San Jaun - January 20, 2017

Thanks Tink! You provide sooo much info. Most appreciated.

Question for the pin traders!
Never done it before and was going to pick up a starter set for the 3 year old. I think she would reallllly dig it.
How many pins do you think I should buy to start her out with.
Most starter lanyards come with 5 pins.
That is a good number to start with. That gives them a chance to see what kinds of pins are available for trading, and gives them a chance to experience trading.
At 3, I think her attention span will be long enough to ooh and aah over the pins, but not so long that she becomes fixated on finding that perfect pin (unlike older teens ). I bet she will enjoy the interaction with the cast members. They do a good job making the kids feel special. They've even been known to create a bit of magic.

P.S. I am glad the information has been helpful!

That was what I was thinking. Just the starter pack. Thanks. I didn't want to spend gobs on a bunch but do want her to have enough. 5 it is!

Hello all, and Happy (almost) new year. Now that we are a mere 20 days out, are we considering the FE lists (even the late, late one) closed? I want to start to get everything together, but wanted to make sure I don't leave anyone out.

I think we decided on 3 weeks out. Let's give it until the end of today, and then we will be closed.
If anyone knows of cabins that are thinking about joining the FE, please let them know that today is there last chance to join.

WOW! The group really livened up! You guys are keeping me busy today! :faint:
Here are a few things you may have missed.
  1. Harbor House meets - discussion on when and where. I have tried to make sure if you are signed up for the meet, that you are on the conversation list. MNgirl80, I was not able to add you to the group. If you don't have 10 posts, I can not message you. If you would like, I can try to keep you up to date with everything. Please just let me know. If you want to be part of the Harbor House meet, and you have not gotten a group message, let me know so that you can be included.
  2. Mixology - It looks like we are going to exceed the allowed 40. I have asked the shore side planner if we can split in to 2 groups, and if so about either at the same time or putting a second group on the 2nd sea day. Please let me know if you would be able to do the second sea day if that is approved. We will need 20 of our current participants to switch to the other time to be able to have that group (again if approved).
  3. Final call for FE's. Today is the last day to join the FE. If you know of anyone wanting to take part that has not already signed up, please let them know that today is the last day they will be able to do so.
I think that is it for know. If I have anything else pop up, I will let you know.

Happy Monday everyone!!!!! After today, there will only be 2 more Forget me Nots :hourglass. This week and next will be fun reminders, and the last Monday before we leave, I will give a check list of what you absolutely need to have out and ready at the port, and a generic packing list for you to do a quick check with.

Today's Forget Me Nots is your Disney Side. :jester:

For many, a cruise vacation gives the image of an older, more serious type of crowd (that is unless you are sailing on one of the competitors "party" ships, and that is not really a kid friendly environment). You may envision dinners with everyone all dressed up, or on board activities that do not require to much involvement such as auctions or reading rooms (possibly a room dedicated to board games). Well, that is not what you will find on Disney.
From the moment you board, you will find fun activities for kids of all ages. At the sail away party, you will be encouraged to dance with the characters party:. Through out the cruise, you will have opportunities to meet and celebrate with the characters ::yes::. There will be a night that we will be taken over by pirates pirate:, and you are encouraged to dress in your full pirate garb, and join in. Nightly activities encourage the kid in all of us to take part in game shows:yay:, and dancing:dancer:. Which reminds me, there are a few dance parties for you to take part in as well:cool1::dogdance:. For those pin traders out there, the officers will invite you to take part in a pin trading event, along with the pin trading that you can do in all of the shops.
If you are not already planning to, I encourage you to dress like your favorite character in formal on formal night (yes I have heard there may not be a formal night, but that doesn't stop you from having one of your own). Our family is planning one full formal night, and then a black and white dress up night. Another opportunity to dress up for, is pictures with the characters:smickey:. If you have a favorite character, watch the Navigator for their appearance so that you can make sure to capture that photo opportunity.
Who out there is a princess lover . You don't have to be a kid to love the princessesprincess:. And when you are cruising with Disney, no one will judge you (the big kids at heart) for wanting to meet, hug, and get the autograph of your favorite princess or character.
Basically (as you may hear Peter Pan say), from the minute you leave dry land until you return back to reality, commit to leaving all adult things behind, and to seeing this adventure through the eyes of the kid inside. There is fun and adventure around every turn when you sail with Disney pixiedust:, all you have to do is be open to the fun.
So, while you are packing, save room for your Disney Side. :earsgirl::earsboy::earboy2::stitch::simba:pluto::figment::ccat::tinker::maleficen:tigger::dumbo::donald:

Have a great week.

So - we are STILL waiting for a cabin assignment , never seen it this late before. We're going to plan to deliver our gifts in the first day or so and will include a "where you can find us" note in our gifts. Sorry for holding you all up , but I'm sure you want to get things packed and ready. IF we hear soon, we will update you in this space, but we will also include the note with our gifts just in case folks havent had time to check before they leave. ThANKS to all for letting us join so late, and for your patience with out GTY cabin!

That is a great idea to add your cabin number to your gifts!
Someone had asked me how to notify others of a cabin change if they decide to upgrade at the port. This is a possible solution to add to the list of options I suggested.
Also, MassDisLovers, or anyone else that may have any changes, you can let me know and I will post notes, changes, group messages, etc (basically anything that you may want to get word out about) on a dry erase board on my cabin door (7131). So, make sure to check my door if you are having trouble locating one of your group members.
Speaking of my cabin, even if you are not part of the FE, I invite you to make a trip back to my cabin at some time during the trip and leave a quick note on the board. I will be taking pictures of the board every night for my youtube channel and for a photo diary. It would be fun to collect little notes and howdy's like a yearbook to keep as a memento of this cruise.
We are just a little over 2 weeks out!!!!! YEAHHHHHH!!!!!!

The Wonder is in port today. Here is the webcam link if you want to check her out or see the sail away:
http://www.galvestoncruises.com/webcams/cruisevideocam
The current feel like temp is 31.
The current forcast for Thur. the 19th is high 68 and low 59. Partly cloudy, with 8 to 10 mph winds.
The forcast for Fri. is high of 69 and a low of 56, partly cloudy with 10 to 11 mph winds

We have a cabin assignment~! #2060 pixiedust: Thanks for your patience, FE friends! Brooke, Karen and Jackie

The Wonder is getting ready to sail out. I hope our weather is better in 2 weeks. The water is choppy, and the temps are nippy.
If you have time, the ropes haven't dropped yet. You can still hop on and watch her sail away.
Only 2 more trips out of Texas this year.

Hey there! How can we be added to the FE group? It's been a couple years since we have been on a cruise and I forget how this works.
Hello! My family is cruising on the 20th! We have never been involved with Disney before and I have NO idea how all this works! HELP!

Hello!
We will be cruising on the Wonder on the 20th. How can we be part of the FE's, is it too late?
We have never cruised with Disney before, excited, but have no idea how everything works.
Please help!!

Hellow CiccFamily!! First let me say welcome to the group!
:welcome::welcome::welcome:
Unfortunately, our last FE group did close one week ago. :worried:
I will ask all the participants if anyone would have the time and supplies to adopt your cabin. I can not promise anything though. If you happen to miss the opportunity, I know you will still have a great time. There is always something to keep you busy on board. On our first Disney cruise, I did not even know FE's existed. Yet I walked off the boat asking 'Okay, when are we leaving for our next one!'
If we do have cabins offer to adopt your cabin, we are going to need to find somethings out about your cabin. I prefer to use the boards messaging feature for that. So, in order for me to send you a message, you are going to need to have made 10 posts. You have currently made 2, so only 8 more to go. You said this is your first Disney cruise, so I am sure you have lots of questions. You can quickly make 8 posts asking anything that you may want to know about the cruise.
I have one question to get you started. This is something that cabins considering adopting your cabin may ask.
How many kids and adults are in your cabin?
